NAFTA negotiations.
Thinkinoutsidethebox replied to Thinkinoutsidethebox's topic in Canada / United States Relations
And the masses eat it up hook, line and sinker. It is said computers will become more intelligent then all of mankind in the near future, if they are programmed to think logically its not hard to imagine. Humankind are sheep, they need something to follow, maybe IA will save mankind... Or it'll have to eliminate mankind if programmed to save the planet. -
NAFTA negotiations.
Thinkinoutsidethebox replied to Thinkinoutsidethebox's topic in Canada / United States Relations
One small example of the most intelligent life form on the planet doing something so stupid it defies imagination. Economists; We are selling crude oil at discounted prices only to import it again at world prices (plus refining, logististics and transportation costs). How does contributing to foreign entities profits improve our economic well being? Environmentalists; We are trying to push crude oil the longest possible distance across the continent only to import refined oil from the longest possible distances again. You're happy to protest the expansion of pumping product out of the country but don't say peep about importing it again. This may come as a shocker but reducing the distance a substance must travel will considerably reduce its environmental footprint. Is this being done just to keep as many people as possible busy? Is this why we absolutely have to have "free trade"? What is the logic behind this? -
NAFTA negotiations.
Thinkinoutsidethebox replied to Thinkinoutsidethebox's topic in Canada / United States Relations
So the negotiators are busy floundering around in the mud hole we call NAFTA, a petty announcement every so often... Trump looming in the background... I wonder if he's letting this fumble along until the midterm elections? Could be some leverage there... I haven't seen a political cartoon to this effect yet -
Keep it public... Health care should be right not a luxury. Each and every person should have equal access. It bugs me some believe those who are lucky enough to be wealthy should have better access to healthcare than others that aren't. As I've stated I think our healthcare system is top notch, maybe it could use tuning and streamlining but we need to keep it. As for wait times those that bitch the loudest are the same ones that whine about street cleaning nor being fast enough, high municipal taxes, no meals on domestic flights, the cost of domestic flights, long lines at DMVs, the cost of getting a driver's licence, hot weather, cold weather, wind, rain, sunshine etc., Here's a suggestion, maybe stop complaining and appreciate what we actually have. Expecting a doctor on your doorstep the second you have the sniffles is way over the top.

Canada's Third World Health Care System
Thinkinoutsidethebox replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think I'm the only one that is completely happy with our healthcare system. I don't have allot of experience but have been to emergency maybe ten times for myself and family members over the course of my life. I've found the wait times very reasonable, the people very personable and patient, the buildings and equipment clean and in good repair. We've been bumped for more urgent situations and that is totally reasonable in my opinion, I think I've also been slipped in front of someone else at least once. I'm sure hospitals and doctors offices go through busy times and slow times just like any other profession (I believe most emergency medical situations are not scheduled). I honestly don't know if we are wasting money on our health care system, we probably could eliminate several inefficiencies but there are so many other places we are hemorrhaging money that should be cleaned up first. At least most health care spending is staying within Canada. Our healthcare system to me is exactly as it should be, you go in, you get fixed up, you go home, everyone has a right to the same service regardless of wealth or stature, simple as that. PS, to all you health care people out there, I am truly grateful for everything you do for us, you are top notch and easily among some of the best people I've met in my life. Thank you -

This was fun but it's getting old, I'm hoping you're just leading me on. All the best to you and yours Taxme -
From the ducks point of view what she did was perfectly legitimate. It'll be interesting to see how self driving vehicles will be programmed to interpret ducks crossing a road. Will the vehicles slow and possibly stop to let the creatures safely cross? On a road with one hundred percent autonomous vehicles communicating with each other with will be a perfectly safe maneuver. Mix in a bunch of human piloted vehicles and this could get very interesting... Or will these vehicles consider these small animate objects insignificant road hazards and continue unimpeded? The people designing and programming these vehicles have allot to consider.

You're afraid to write it? White, American and male? These should be the rulers of the world? Might want to open your eyes, even you have stated they are the cause of most of the world's problems. -

Taxme's criteria appears to be tighter than yours CITIZEN_2015, he eludes to this "superior race" which he's afraid to name but seems to be white, American and possibly male. -
Concerning Rape Case Ruling

Could it be argued this judge had a bias due to the books he coauthored regarding women and the law? Especially one titled "The Law Is Not For Women". Just curious. -

It would be hilarious if DNA tests proved them to be more caucasian than yourself Once we determine this "superior race" someone is hiding from us we can use DNA to work from there. -

Brief concept of Geomocracy.
Thinkinoutsidethebox replied to Anthony's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Interesting concept. Seems like possibly a viable concept on the surface but... The public is far too flakey and immature to make this work, we have some serious growing up to do first. Think about it, some rock star decides this is his/her stance they could sway half the population. I am in favor of more free votes in parliament, it would be nice for MPs to actually represent their constituents instead of just the party. I also think there could be national referendums on certain issues instead of using them as political footballs. Capital punishment, abortion, maybe immigration and even the burka/niqab issue could be resolved this way. It would be a way to tell the people of the world how the Canadian population actually feels about these subjects. The campaign could run 28 days, day one the subject is introduced, three weeks for the opposing sides to argue their case, one week contemplation by the public (polls would be banned during this period) then on day 28 we vote and the results are binding for a fixed period, (maybe ten years or so) then the process starts again. -
School girls detained for wearing sexy trousers
Thinkinoutsidethebox replied to Altai's topic in The Rest of the World
Maybe not so illogical, the story also states the school requires the students to dress in "professional attire". Are tight pants considered professional attire in england? Sexually distracted is actually not mentioned in the story. I wouldn't be surprised the school and faculty are being chastised by their peers for their lax uniform policy. The policy itself is not really backward in my opinion, if the school is trying to maintain a professional image allowing people to look like they're from the local trailer park could be distracting. Being lax about it and then cracking down mid season is backwards, yes. -

I guess you're right in most school settings. We definitely can't afford more rooms but even within a room it would be good to divide boys and girls occasionally, we did that when I was in school a few times. It was good fun and I think we learned a few things about how the sexes approach problems and think differently. I think it's a yin/yang thing and we should embrace it
