Fair enough but the NDP Mantra of "MAKE THE RICH PAY" does have a tendency to make the rich leave. Free will and all that stuff. The NDP winning was a protest vote and rightfully so after that arrogance and mismanagement second only to Ontario but now they have too govern and I think they will will find it is not that easy. The Alberta NDP need the oil that will earn them the money that I am sure will fill the coffers of every union in the province but what will happen when the oil companies don't want to play anymore? Yes there is only one Alberta but it is not going anywhere and neither is the oil ,what business can do when they do not wish to play and they have proven that with Ontario during the nightmare that was Bob Rae is just shut down and wait. If Notley does not play nice the oil companies may just stall with court cases and such to wait for a new government.
-
But you did prove the point that the rest of Canada cannot survive without manufacturing jobs. Plus considering the fact the NDP hate all that is oil .

Congrads. That is something too be very proud of. Her and your family should be very proud of such an accomplishment. I wish her the very best.

The NDP deserve a chance after the way the P.C party treated the voters of Alberta. I am not a fan of the NDP political stance but I will say the P.C party needed a good whopping. Prentice leaving his seat shows how petty the party has become and it needs a complete rebuild before they can pick up whatever is left after the next four years. Wonder what Quebec will do without Alberta's money?
-
I think in four years Alberta will not be able too afford a lot of things. The Bob Rae years are not a stereotype. It was really a case of government killing business and over spending. These are facts. Every curses the Mike Harris years but the last Ontario election Hudak blew it. Nobody ever gave serious thought to giving the NDP a chance B.C. ran from what should have been an NDP land slide last election because of the memories of the past. You watch history repeat itself in Alberta

I do not think Alberta has enough money to come out unscathed from an NDP government. They are a great social conscience but not at forming government
-
My prediction is NDP Majority.2015 in 2019 a complete whip out of the NDP in Alberta.

I agree with your point about people. But we have seen that businesses have no such emotional attachment. We pay a percentage of our income. Most of us pay a provincial sales tax, We all pay the GST. At what point does it become obvious that the people cannot pay any more? We are all basically giving up half our pay for social services that are getting more expensive. Health care and education of course are a necessity and would never dream of ending it. But what is bothering me is that I am wondering if any government in Canada will ever see that there is only one tax payer and we are doing are share. When will our elected officials do theirs?

I am in that boat as well but JT say's I am wealthy. I beg too differ. Not a big deal. A Liberal would never get my vote that praised the Ontario Liberals
-
End of the day I think you are all giving Wynne too much credit. The Liberals have spent too much and want a new tax. They cannot add a new tax so she is creating a new cap and trade policy which will raise money. A carbon tax would make the most sense and may actually reduce emissions but to do that the pressure would be to make it revenue neutral by cutting income taxes. That is not the Liberal way. A cap and trade is a way too get money and if prices go up she can blame the industries for polluting. I voted for Hudak. I really did not like him or hi campaign but to vote Liberal was betraying everything that has to do with common sense.

I never thought I would agree with something that said a postivie thing about Bob Rae's time as premier but His government was not nearly as corrupt. It is an even money bet on incompetence.
-
We all short change purchases like the F35.s, senate expenses, MP's salaries and pensions and of course gas plants not being built and such. I do not lose much sleep over ripping off the government. They have been ripping me off since I was born
-
Might turn into what happened in Ontario with the NDP. Tried it once and we learned our lesson. Bob Rae has done more for the other two parties in Ontario than any one person in history.
-
Could not agree more. Like a corporation or businesses union leaders will complain about a politician but rally around them to get bigger piece of the pie when the contracts come around. I personally have no respect for Liberals. They are either NDP light or Conservative light which ever will get them the job they are after. I may not agree with the NDP but I respect the fact they take a stance.

That would start to make for a boring forum.

Usually these riots are young in age. Early twenties and younger. University kids and such. They graduate and go find jobs.
-
That will not help. We will all get called sexist for not taking part.
-
History shows that the protesters start wanting bigger tv's so they shower and go find a job. Usually with a corporation.
-
I know...... But people would be complaining he did not use submissions from random talent.
-
So you want them to be paid? That is capitalism.
-
Worried about people reading your posts on a public forum......... If that bothers you why not just go on Facebook and control your sharing. Why is this an issue?
-
You are absolutely right. Every system needs challenged or it cannot not be controlled. Protesting capitalism, governments, for rights. These protests can start change and there are times when change is desperately needed. I do agree that destroying property is a stupid plan when protesting capitalism when it will be the workers that suffer. Time lost and such. But harsher measures than tear gas and riot police is over kill. These things can be replaced. A human life cannot. What bothers me about this is what magical system do the protesters think will replace capitalism? Governments are just as corrupt. CEO's will be replaced by party hacks that have kissed the right babies than will abuse the power. Montreal is ripe with it as is history. I wish for nobody to be starving in the streets or left for dead in a gutter but how many of us depend on those "nasty corporations" for our pay checks.

But unlike in China we can debate the pro's and con's of our government and its decisions. I place no respect for the monarchy and question why we as a nation pay homage. That is my right. Try that in North Korea. The wonderful prison camps where generations of your children can grow up there.

It actually is the best budget that the Ontario Liberals have come up with since first elected. But it is like being valedictorian of summer school.

Snow Removal is a Core Service right?
Ash74 replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The Ontario Liberals have made a lot of use out of the Wakerton water scandal that killed seven people. We will never know how many have died because The Liberals have yet again failed to do the job that the people of Ontario elected them to do. Is there any dept that the liberals have not made a disaster in at some point since McGuinty was elected?
