  1. That is not really true. Brampton had one of the highest paid mayors in the country and she was caught with expense account charges that make Duffy blush. http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2013/03/26/bramptons_susan_fennell_highest_paid_mayor_in_canada.html http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/brampton-mayor-susan-fennell-s-spending-to-be-reviewed-by-police-1.2728742 Look how much some of the first nations chiefs get paid for their troubles. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/salary-tracker-explore-the-earnings-of-first-nations-chiefs-across-canada/article20070005/ Look at the issues on the Rez's with spending abuses http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/52-first-nations-could-lose-funding-for-failing-to-report-finances-1.2122557 Just because you promise a good salary does not mean you will get talent.
  2. http://thechive.com/2015/04/29/there-are-teachers-and-then-there-are-educators-13-photos/ I believe that teaching is a noble profession and I do agree that they have the right for a fair wage. I would not say they are " wealthy" but are given many incentives too become a teacher. A pension that is the envy of any profession, excellent benefits and a very good amount of time off. I could never claim that I could be a teacher and have nothing but respect for the ones I deal with regularly.
  3. It was only a few weeks ago you chanted about how wonderful Wynne is. She can do no wrong and now here we are. You talked about how professionalism with teachers was absolute and yet you throw a bunch under the bus. The teachers union is fighting a battle for seniority overriding talent. The union is fighting for the students but the same union is trying to get teachers like "The Napper" a full time job whether he is the most qualified or not. So these same people that for you walked on water a very short time ago and you claimed would never text in class are now just padding their nests Ok let us say you are a teacher. With the ridiculous number of teachers waiting for a full time position how did you walk into one so quickly after graduating? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/hypocrite Now if you will excuse me I must sleep. Some of us work for a living and I cannot nap at work
  4. It looks to me like an election budget. Not for Wynne but a budget that does not send the rage of the voters to Harper like McGuinty did so many times. The cap and trade maney grab not with standing but that is just hiding the tax behind the businesses that will raise the prices.
  5. Still..........caught napping
  6. GIMME A RAISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WORK HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.thestar.com/yourtoronto/education/2015/04/28/toronto-supply-teacher-caught-on-twitter-sleeping-on-the-job.html Poor guy. Likely was not feeling well. But it is really funny and the timing is perfect.
  7. I could not agree more. I will not be taking part in the TFSA anytime soon. University is not cheap. Wealthy is when your money works for you not when you work for your money
  8. Why? So I can pay more taxes and bring less home? Would cost me more in daycare and other expenses. This allows me to save for my kids education and my retirement. I have learned the Kijiji and other small places that deal only in cash allow me to purchase without taxes and recycling fee's many products. You gotta be nuts to pay retail. No, I will continue my one man crusade and find ways to avoid donating to such products as F35's,the senate, Non built gas plants, cap and trade. This budget allows me to do just that
  9. But if I made 50 grand and my wife made 40 grand would I still be considered rich? Of course not.
  10. In general so am I. But the burden is shifting and the cost of living is getting higher and higher. I have the same issues where there is more month than money and I see that this is becoming an issue with more and more people. I am bitter over being classified as rich when I am trying to find the money to pay for braces or getting my car fixed. Such is life. But having JT on the radio saying only the wealthy benefit form this tax cut is yet another reason I would never vote Liberal (I admit if I had a gun to my head I would still have a hard time voting for the lying thieves)
  11. Ok. Using those statistics that is still for an individual. Yes I am the sole source of income in my household but it is what supports my family. The income splitting and child credit helps pay the bills. Where you a child that went to school? So you did use that service....... My orginal point was that this tax cut is not only for the wealthy despite what the Federal Liberals claim
  12. http://www.workopolis.com/content/advice/article/how-much-money-are-we-earning-the-average-canadian-wages-right-now/ Not quite double and that covers my wife not having o work. Her choice. We have that luxury. But JT claims I am rich. I beg to differ
  13. How am I wealthy? I gross in a little over 90 grand a year and work six days a week. My wife is a stay at home Mom who also helps out other parents and my kids school. You ask why should I get a tax break. Ok I ask why should I pay taxes for services I do not use? I have never collected welfare? Why should they get my money? I never take transit in Toronto so why should I be paying for that? I do not live in Oakville yet I am paying for gas plants there. I never mail anything and all my bills are electronic so why am I helping out Canada post? I do not watch the CBC yet I pay for that? This was a nice break and one that I could use. Not a wealthy guy just one that is tired of my earnings going to something else. This was a small victory but I will take it.
  14. One of the sticking points in negotiations is substitutes seniority over who the principal will feel is a good fit in his or her school http://www.pressreader.com/canada/the-sun-times/20150428/281556584376001/TextView this is where the union proves it cares not about the students but the members that pay the dues
  15. http://www.torontosun.com/2015/04/28/students-shocked-by-sleeping-tdsb-supply-teacher Well at least he was not texting.
  16. Nope. It was the way you disrespected teachers that taught people like myself and my generation. You called them lazy. I do not pick on grammar or spelling cause yes mine is very much sh!t and I am honest enough to admit it. But have at it if that is all you got. When you argue facts I read with interest and before you go off on a social justice rant you generally make good points lately. I will say you have even improved by actually using facts. But in this case. The province be broke. Teachers and unions are using the students as leverage to get more money. That would be called greed. Of course Wynne could raise taxes yet again to cover this but that would just be taking back the money given to the teachers. Nasty cycle.
  17. You dig ditches. Good for you. Bout time you admitted you are not a teacher. It has been made very clear that it is about the wages. That is why the strikes are happening now so it will hurt the most people.
  18. Gost and I busted him for copy and paste a point on live chat.......He ran pretty quick when caught
  19. Ok. Yes an English teacher is teaching a different course but are still teachers. What does that have to do with anything? But whatever..... Please explain how teachers not getting a raise is hurting the children unless you factor in the strikes that go on and school missed. As somebody pointed out we all work jobs that pays what the market sets for that job. The market for teachers are the taxpayer and in this case the people of Ontario. Both the people and the government that represents the people are broke. How can we justify giving a raise for one social service and not another? Now some would argue that teachers have a more important job than say a police officer or a nurse but those groups are not allowed to strike and yet here we are discussing striking teachers. My last post was showing also how money that could be spent on the students was given away so the union could look good.
  20. Top of my head. Those that stay and help students that are falling behind. Perhaps ones that coach sports or other school activities. Going by grades is just asking for trouble I do agree with you on that point. I have also stated I have no real issue with teachers pay my issue is that the union is claiming it is everything but. I would much rather see a teacher get a raise than say the union receiving gift cards http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2012/06/27/tdsb_workers_given_253000_in_gift_cards_by_union.html Older issue but if you think these games have stopped I have a gas plant that will not be built and will not cost a thing.
  21. Your not a teacher. That just shows how corrupt people are. This is why socialism does not work but that is another thread. Having a system that rewards the lazy the same as the ambitious is not a very good system either but unions hate ambition and would never give up their hold.
  22. I do agree it would not be easy. That being said we all have had teachers that go above and beyond for their students and ones that are waiting out the clock. Why should the ones that are just doing enough to get by be given the same raises than the ones that are doing more?
  23. Mine are based on performance. I would love to see teachers live with that
  24. But that i not what is being toted by the union. They say it is for bargaining rights and better education. Not that they all want a raise. So off they strike going into the end of the year taking education away from the students and yet you are telling me it is for better education. Gonna have to give a big ole "NOPE". This is greed.
  25. But this is not about "educating the youth" this is about teachers pay. How is teachers getting more money going to help students learn. (For the record I actually have no problem with teachers getting paid well I just am against them saying it is for any other reason than they want more money) We in Ontario are about too get hit even harder buying just about anything all in the name of a cap and trade that will do nothing to stop emissions. All of us are going to be a lot poorer this time next year. Wynne has put us all into a socialist dream and that is shared poverty
