Good grief! Give it a rest! You people are really confused.

So, we have a pervert who is not actually transexual and not actually even gay hanging around naked, changing in front of little girls and watching them change - and the issue somehow becomes about how uptight I am? Wow!
-
This is a better article; I've taken an expert out as somewhat of an example because i know some here will not even bother reading past the idea of "transgender". If you really want this pervert in a changeroom with your children, you're sicker than this douchebag. https://gendertrender.wordpress.com/tag/evergreen-state-college/ Before Title IX, female sports teams were shuttered off into small unequal locker rooms and sports facilities. Olympic WA school officials have reinstituted this illegal policy by punishing teenage girls and their families for keeping their children safe. Applying contact with this man, who merely two years ago described himself as a male fetishistic cross-dresser, as a condition of equal rights under Federal Title IX is discriminatory and illegal. https://gendertrender.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/colleen-francis-2010.jpg?w=480 Colleen Francis 2010 Colleen Francis is a 45 year old man who retired from the US Army after 20 years as a supply sergeant. Married three times, he has three adult children and two daughters aged 7 and 5. His cross-sex hormones are provided by VA Medical, as well as a cocktail of psychiatric meds, lithium and antabuse prescribed for a troubling history that he details at length on a blog at the Transgender Lesbian Spaceof the puddygirl dating site for women. He says he is known as Fae Raven (not to be confused with the UK fetish model of the same name) in the BDSM Community and describes himself as: I am polyamorous, bisexual (I very much favor women though, and my therapist calls me a lesbianmakes me smile) and kinky. Colleen Brenna means Raven Girl in Irish Gaelic. A former rodeo rider, he is an avid hunter and competitive handgun shooter. He started wearing a low-dose estrogen patch two years ago and has written that he has no intention of ever getting sex reassignment surgery, stating Yes, I still have those parts too, although they arent disgusting for me. Ive never hated then. I saw LONG ago, in childhood that those were what I was given, and beung the very, very sexual creature that I was/am, I used them. Enthusiastically. I decided not to be robbed of the blessing of sexuality simply because I came wrapped in the wrong package. [sic] He describes his VA funded estrogen treatments as making him tired and very horny The VA also funds his education at Olympia WA Evergreen State College. Francis performed in the university presentation of Eve Enslers The Vagina Monologues, an experience he describes on his wordpress blog thusly: I suddenly find myself in a community of Cunts. He lists his life interests as: drawing, cooking, transgender issues, polyamory, witchcraft, nature, fishing, art, poetry, ocean, women, sex, sexuality, emotions, magic, magick, goddess, reading, erotica, pornography, nudity, crafting, leatherwork, firearms, knives, swords, paganism, wicca, LGBT issues, beauty, gender issues, kink, spirituality, guns, makeup, shoes, boots, corsets, selkies [sic] and describes himself as at once a teen girl and a woman wise beyond her years. He says the first thing people notice about him is I obviously stand out as the one who is not a genetic female. Colleens fae_raven.livejournal bdsm account has been purged.

I can't bring up the form for some reason. Not sure if it's just me, but maybe try to redo the link.

http://www.wnd.com/2012/11/aaack-girls-getting-eyeful-in-locker-room/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2227562/Colleen-Francis-Outrage-transgendered-woman-permitted-use-college-womens-locker-room-exposing-himself.html http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/11/transgender-student-in-womens-locker-room-raises-uproar/ http://komonews.com/archive/controversy-swirls-around-local-transgender-college-student You see Kimmy, this sick douchebag is given the chance to use the women's locker room and sauna and what does he do? Instead of being discreet and respectful of others, he chooses to let his dick swing around in front of girls as young as 6 years old. You see, now to ensure this sick fak gets his equality, dozens of young girls are compromised, and dozens of their families now have a concern that this guy is seeing their children naked and vice versa. You may think is a great and wonderful step forward for humanity, but you might think differently once your 6 YO girl has some sicko exposing himself in her presence. Go ahead, be as sarcastic as you want, paint me as the bad man, but please stop being so naive.

This is a pretty good example of how this will play out in real life. http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/college-allows-transgender-man-to-expose-himself-to-young-girls.html

Thanks for that Captain Obvious!

Oh, stop! The law is about the whole thing and i've argued against the showers, change room aspect as well as the bathroom. Unfortunately, people like you and Jacee want to only reference the bathroom idea - because that's good for your argument. All sorts of things can happen when men (gays, tranny's etc) are allowed where women shit, shower or change - and most of those things aren't positive. It's a great thought to have everybody shower together, but human nature dictates that problems will arise. Rape? Maybe, maybe not! As BC said voyeurs and exhibitionists is a strong possibility too. Sorry, if I don't want some dude watching my teen age daughters shower - maybe I'm weird that way.

...don't forget change rooms and showers too.

Selective Abortions: They're Happening in Canada

OK, forcing is a strong word, lets just say "persuading". Because really, lets not kid ourselves, that's what's happening. -
Selective Abortions: They're Happening in Canada

I wonder if the conversation would change if the headline was "Indian men forcing their wives into aborting female fetuses". -
My bad, I thought revelations was old testament.
-
Look, I get the idea that allowing men, questioning, homos, and tranny's into female washrooms, change rooms and showers falls right in line with the "forward thinking", "inclusion", non-discriminatory" crowd. But lets face it, allowing dicks to swing free in the women's shower is just asking for trouble. I know some women think it's a great idea on the surface, but I can't imagine too many really want a guy in the shower with them. Jacee can play whatever game she wants, but i guarantee that if I walked into her shower at the gym, she'd be calling for security immediately.
-
It's always a little awkward when talking about Jesus Christ and people start quoting old testament stuff. Anyway, i guarantee that 90% of what you (and all western atheists) consider "common sense", are thoughts and ideas given to you through christianity.
-
I know women that won't sit on the toilets and prefer to hover above to do their thing. Just ask anyone who cleans bars, clubs and gas station bathrooms what they think of women's bathrooms.
-
BTW - We're talking about locker rooms and showers too. Do you, Jacee want a guy like me in the shower with you? I would bet most women aren't comfortable with a man showering with them.
-
Clearly there are a lot of women who support this position. So, when you say "we'll decide", who are you referring to? If I walked into your bathroom, I guarantee you'd recognize me as a man - but it wouldn't matter if I told you I don't believe in gender roles - right? And, why should I butt out, this affects me too.
-
WoW! you're hostile. As I said, I couldn't care less, but I can see why some women would care. You guys want to claim the "all men want is sex" and some feminists say "All men are potential rapists". But, a man can put on a dress and that all changes - now they're normal! I doubt it. I don't wear a dress, but if I claim that I don't believe in gender roles, would you be OK with me being in a public washroom with you? Does it all come down to dress code? Seems like it! And if so, what would be acceptable attire for me to use the women's washroom with you?
-
Of course atheists have a superior stance, just listen to any of them talk, they'll tell that to anybody who'll listen and especially those who don't want to hear it. However, western world atheists have derived their common sense stances directly from christian teachings. I guarantee that most of your common sense beliefs are exactly the same as what Jesus Christ preached 2000 years ago - or what early christians wrote about 1500-2000 years ago. Common sense tells me that men and women are equal human beings, but in some groups common sense will tell us that it's obvious that women are inferior, other societies will tell us that women is the giver of life, therefore common sense says that women are more valuable. Look at the thread about abortions, it seems common sense that people of a different faith are aborting girl babies more than boy babies, whereas I find that morally wrong. Common sense in regards to morals, laws or ethics aren't common, they change. If they were common, we'd all get along better.
-
On a personal level, i couldn't care less, but i can see why some women would care. It'll be all good, until some perv strolls into a bathroom and rapes (or worse) a woman. I know that can happen anyway, but people usually notice a dude walking into a woman's washroom. Sometimes separating men from women is good for the safety of women. One could argue that the problems in universities can be tracked down to co-ed dorms, co-ed bathrooms and generally a reluctance to keep men and women separate in certain situations.
-
Morals, ethics, laws and even common sense vary widely depending on the predominate religion in the area (or even with those who reject religion on the whole). In some areas of the world, its common sense to cut of the hand of a thief, in our culture, it would be morally reprehensible and common sense would be to give a warning and possibly a fine. Some cultures would have a healing circle for offences while others would be put to death for the same crime. Some religions or cultures believe that sex with a child is morally acceptable. Christians believe certain moral things that seem reprehensible to others - including athiests, yet muslims believe certain ideas that are reprehensible to christians. Sure, there might be some commonality in some places, but laws, morals and even common sense change depending on whether you are Christian, atheist, buddhist, muslim, jewish...whatever. Morals are taught - and generally through religious belief, they haven't come via evolution.
-
I don't know if its that easy. Maybe there is a large majority of women who aren't comfortable with a dude strolling in and out of their bathroom. A year ago, you might not want Bruce Jenner in your washroom, today he is taking estrogen and grown his hair and all all of the sudden, women are ok with it? I don't know, just my opinion, but i think it opens the door to sickos (who may or may not be trans) going into womens washrooms to get their jollies or worse, maybe inflict harm on women. Not every rule/law is about accepting or rejecting gays, some are about the protection and comfort of straights too.

Morality, ethics and law are not based on reason or logic, they're almost always based on religion.

Selective Abortions: They're Happening in Canada
Hal 9000 replied to Boges's topic in Sex and Gender Issues
Frankly, I'm just happy that there is still some culture in Canada that appreciates males. The new generation of Caucasian girls don't want male babies anymore so we'll soon see where that goes. -
Behavior Contracts Not For Sexual Assault
Hal 9000 replied to Big Guy's topic in Sex and Gender Issues
I haven't actually made any claims. That's simply your "goto" comment, along with asking for a cite or dismissing common sense based on "anecdotal evidence". I'm suggesting quite the opposite, that we really don't know anything about the stats and especially don't know anything about the situation mentioned in the article. You seem to reject the actions of the university without knowing a single fact or even what the original complaint was.
