  1. No animal's life is worth a human's life.
  2. They should get more than that AFAIC - And sponsors should give them more for appearances and TV spots too. CBC (or whoever) should pay them for interviews. I think our athletes gets exploited by Canadian TV and their sponsors. In the US, they say that a gold medal is worth a $million dollars to an athelete.
  3. Why would I (or anybody) report a post with where they are called a racist if you're just going to assume that some people (can't imagine who) don't mind the tag. You're clearly giving an out to those people who choose to hurl insults while making it impossible for us to defend ourselves. Good grief! I saw one person make a one word post - simply "bigot", I waited about an hour before saying the post was F*(Kd up and within 2 minutes (no exaggeration) MH had given me a 31 day suspension. Now I get it, you mods don't care about trolls, just people responding to trolls. I think maybe I'll just start hurling "Feminizi" and "loonie lefties" every time I disagree with a post because hey, agitating is acceptable behaviour.
  4. Another cop out. If I say something about a topic, all one has to do to insult or troll me is say "you people are racist" instead of "you're a racist" and all is good? That's laughable!
  5. Well, maybe we should clear up the misunderstandings by naming who those people are. We can also ask all the posters who self identify with being homophobes and misogynysts too. I'm gonna say right here, I feel offended and attacked when i'm called racist, homophobe, bigot or misogynyst.
  6. WCR sarcastically called herself a "man hating feminist nazi" just the other day, can I call her that from now until the end of time or would I get an inflation for using that term against her? I would bet that if I called her that name, I'd be taking a month off from this site.
  7. "Not everybody is insulted by being called a racist. Calling somebody racist does not automatically spell the derailment of a discussion." What? Huh? Really? I had to read this a couple times jus to be sure I wasn't missing something. If the moderators don't feel that having someone tell them that they are racist is insulting, it's no wonder there is so much chaos here. If calling someone racist is not insulting, then calling them bigot, homophobe and misogynist can't really be insulting either - because they are all hatred of a certain group for no logical reason. What we're left with is a forum where people on the right can say something and be freely shouted down as being "racist" or any other of the above words without repercussion. In fact, we have a system that when/if we do respond to those insults (yes, I'll call them insults) by suggesting that person is trolling, it's us that gets the infraction. Nice job, Mods!
  8. Well, I have seen it, can't say I've seen it often, but I have seen men compared to the Williams sisters. Cite? No, I won't do that because it really doesn't matter. So, you're issue is that women get compared to their male counterparts - and this is a problem! Would the alternative be to not bother comparing them and simply writing off women in sports as being inferior? The women's 100m sprint is nearly a second slower than the men's and I would suggest nearly every (if not every world record in track, swimming, biking etc) world record is held by a man. All the world records in swimming are held by men. The best hockey player, golfer, basketball player, tennis player etc etc are all men. We know that men and women compete on different levels. The best female swimmer wouldn't even medal if she was competing with men, so we can either compliment a woman by comparing her to her male counterpart or we can say "she's very good - for a girl", which I would find insulting. I think that there would be outrage if we said "yeah, you can compare her to other women, but please don't compare her to Michael Phelps and there would be outrage (as we see) when we do compare her to Michael Phelps - essentially, WCR just wants to stir it up. I like watching many women's sports more than men's sports, and I think it's great what our women are doing in this olympics.
  9. I sense that it's a shout down, or at least that BG is hitting the keys pretty hard while typing.
  10. Of course that was/is your intent. You can't shout down everybody and every topic with the word racist and say that wasn't your intent - there can be no other intent than to attack. It's as if you believe that the word "racist" is the nuclear bomb of arguments and if you use it, it's an automatic win.
  11. Women have issues...or is it you that has issues with these comments? First off, as I said, this olympic games is all women - all the time. Almost all the features , interviews and even commercials on CBC are female centric. You'd be hard pressed to even know there were Canadian men at the olympics by watching CBC. As for mens coverage, I hear the Name Michael Phelps a lot, but beyond that, there is very little. Second, Comparing Katie Ledecky (an american swimming star) to Michael Phelps ( an american swimming star) is not as nefarious as you'd like to believe. I would bet anything that she has no issues with the comparison. I think it's you (or your imagination) that has this issue. Kadinka Hosszu - Coaches in swimming as in gymnastics and figure skating get featured in these competitions - always! You're issue is that this particular coach is a man and also her *gasp* husband - and lets face it, crediting a husband for the success of the wife just won't do. That's the real issue, isn't it?. Simone Biles - Well, Is it really so horrible that some commentator is suggesting that this woman could compete equally with the men? Mike Fisher - I've heard commentators refer to Mike Fisher as Mr. Underwood - many times, and with no outrage. The issues really are yours and how you're viewing this. You could choose to be happy and proud of our women athletes, but you're choosing to scratch around for some injustice - it's sad actually.
  12. Calling Katie Ledecky 'the female Michael phelps'. Wtf! WTF indeed, It's an undeserved compliment. But is comparing her to the most successful swimmer in history really so terrible. BTW, they've also compared Phelps to some female gymnast. On Simone Biles: she may go higher then the men. Why the need to compare to men. Another compliment - speaking to her strength. Crediting the gold medal Hungarian swimmer to her husband. He didn't swim! Some would say - her coach! Coaches get credit all the time regardless of gender. Commenting on a competitors leotards. Seriously? I have no idea what this comment was - or was about. Our women are doing great and here you are complaining about very minor comments - and they are minor. You're angry, you hate men, i get it, but why not relax and try to enjoy the success of our Canadian women - you're wasting what should be a great moment.
  13. Maybe you are hearing certain comments, but the coverage of female athletes has been far superior to the men. In Canada, it's all about the women - lots of girl power references and interviews. I know the girls have got all the medals so far and are deserving of the accolades, but you're way off if you have any issues with the female coverage. As for the other countries, I see Michael Phelps a lot (and for obvious reasons), but most of the coverage and features are of women, from the Chinese and Hungarian swimmers to the women wearing hijabs.
  14. That's the culture of their chosen sport. I watched it for a few hours, noticed a major wrist injury....but, I think i'll be fine
  15. Remember in 2008 when Hillary suggested that she wouldn't drop out of the presidential race because Obama could still be shot.

      2 Kings 14:6

"The fathers shall not be put to death for the sons, nor the sons be put to death for the fathers; but each shall be put to death for his own sin."

      Why blame parents?

  18. Have we not learned from ..well, everybody involved that if something is said enough that people will believe it.
  19. I can only hope he doesn't apologize by saying "he got carried away", because that's an obvious admission of rape now.
  20. But, what you don't "get" is that most people are saying they should have the same treatment as the rest of us. You people who fight to the bitter end that everything be equal - from sexes, transgender, race and religion. However, when it comes to accommodating muslims, it's all "hey man, lets just let them do whatever they want, because to have them live by Canadian rules is racist".
  21. Bull! Government policies are changed all the time and for the most part were not even informed. They can make a policy to bring in refugees in about a week. It takes one person with a pen and ability to change a birth certificate form.
  22. So, those people who are saying that people of all races and sexes should swim together are actually camouflaging the fact that they don't want to associate with immigrants? Is that your position? As for the rest of this post....Well, it's got crazy all through it. I would love to see the response if a Christian group "suggested" that Chistians have a separate time where muslims aren't allowed.
  23. A good portion of houses bought in Vancouver...and by people of Chinese decent are listed as students or housewives. A child can own a house - one of these toddlers can actually have their name on a million dollar house in Vancouver - or Toronto (as is also a problem). If anyone can't connect the dots , they're obviously pretty thick.
  24. I see, it's about accommodating and respecting ones religious beliefs. I thought we did away with that sort of thing when christians argued over bathroom and change room laws and were told to "just get over it".
  25. It'll save court time (and money) if we just believe the woman is telling the truth and the man is clearly lying - I mean, a woman would never lie. So, no need to bother with trials.
