  1. You're partner is a man, so WCR, do you consider yourself a heterosexual? If not...or if yes, please explain.
  2. There's nothing wrong with the term "homo", it's short for homosexual just as "hetero" is short for heterosexual.
  3. FFS - really! We accept homos - fair enough, everybody knows it. Why would we have to do this? And, let me guess, if any politician says no, they'll have the wrath of the gays thrust upon them. Even if it wasn't in honor of our queer friends, rainbow colors are just ugly. I have no issue with gays, I've said it before, but man, it's gotta stop somewhere. How about flag s or colors of all nations welcoming people to Canada? How about FN colors or designs? I know there would lots of opposition for paining it red and white (y'know Canada's colors), but good grief, there has to something better than rainbow. I can't wait for all the nicknames for the bridge to start rolling in.
  4. We're clearly in a catch-22 situation with the FN's people. I have seen first hand what the reserves are all about, there is every possible addiction, abuse and dependancy rampant. There is also serious illness and illness brought on directly from addiction. Throwing more money at the reserves doesn't work - never has worked and never will. They don't want white people interfering either. I think the best option is to bring these people in to the bigger towns or cities. I believe that they can keep their culture intact while living in a town that can actually address their issues - in fact, as Smallc said, they would probably be better able to keep their culture with assistance from us. But, too many people buy into the idea that they have to be living in squalor in the middle of butt fk nowhere to have a culture and for us as a society to interfere with that is equivalent to genocide. I think it's genocide to allow it to continue in the 21st century. The fact is; left to their own devices, the FN people wouldn't survive more than a couple generations on the remote reserves. We can throw blame until the cows come home, but that'll never solve the issue.
  5. I didn't say women's work - I said primarily women. Have you been to a bank lately? P.S - OK, I'll take the infraction/suspension and outright call you a troll, A forum facilitator is trolling me - great!
  6. I agree that the scum media should get a grip, but Lebron showing his junk during a televised event is not in the same realm as hacking private photos.
  7. So, what do you recommend canadians or Canada do, Jacee?
  8. I don't know what would be more likely, but in his opinion chasing a wrong lead because you don't want to tell your mate they're wrong does seem to happen. I think that there are times when couples can be a benefit. I would think that in jobs where creativity or production is the goal, couples can be beneficial - or at least not a detriment, however, Ive seen teachers who work together and it's good for them - bad for everyone else. My father owned a business (service industry) and loved having couples; they tried to do a good job, helped each other and were basically bound to the company. In my job (about 90% men), the guys work harder when there is a woman on the crew, but also complain to me that they're given the harder tasks - and question why the women don't do as risky of work but get paid the same. And, Ill add, it's not just about women in a certain workplace. You can throw a man into a primarily women's job and cause the same issues. Eg. teaching, nursing, banking etc.
  9. I think by shouting down everybody who disagrees with her as being a racist, Jacee has come off the rails a little bit. I'm not a big fan of reporting, so, Ill also ask Jacee to please tone it down a bit.
  10. I think Cyber is in the wrong thread.
  11. I think what he is getting at is the dynamics of the work environment when 2 people start to bring extra emotions into their work. Most places don't matter, but some do. And, it's his opinion that in the world of science where every decision must be based on factual evidence, this can become a problem. We all know (or should know) that couples in the workplace sometimes causes problems in the decision making process, and most times it's little more than an uncomfortable situation and people for the most part can get over it. When one of those people is the boss, it can lead to decisions based solely on personal reasons rather than business reasons. We can extend that thought process to any sort of nepotism as well.
  12. And, I'll get to that. I'm just waiting for WCR to watch the above video and give her thoughts. I'm going to Jurassic World later though.
  13. I don't give a shit about the science world, i'm asking if a woman has ever been forced into an apology or out of a job for sexist remarks toward a man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muuFygvXPAM Ok, watch the video and tell me what you think - it's not a trick, I seriously want your opinion.
  14. That's kinda the point! Women can say or do anything they want and it'll never be sexism. In fact, some will argue that women "can't" be sexist. It's all around us - yet, it'll never make the news - let alone force an apology. You've seen the video posted showing Sharon Osbourne and her little feminist group laughing about the dude who had his dick cut off. Do you think that's sexist?
  15. The answer is...No! There aren't any cases that I know of where a female has been held to task for her sexism. That's the point! You want to deal with sexism, fair enough, make it a 2 way street. Until you can address female to male sexism as well, you'll be rid of it. But, you're not and have never been against "sexism", you're against male to female sexism - in short, you're against men.
  16. Are you actually asking for a citation to prove that sometimes people lie for personal gain?
  17. Of course sexism is alive. Now, considering that you believe in equality, why don't you find 3 cases of sexism towards men that have gone international and resulted in women losing their jobs and then we can really have a discussion.
  18. If what you say is true; they must have been asleep if hockey was a secondary story! Whaaaat?
  19. My only hope is that the NDP get radical enough in Alberta that the rest of the country opens their eyes before the federal election. And...It seems that maybe they're doing just that. Sorry Alberta, you've chosen to jump on the grenade.
  20. No they're not...and you know it. Society makes it easier every day for single mothers and that trend is not going to change. Even the suggestion of holding them accountable sent WCR into an outrage.
  21. Shady made a sarcastic remark, WCR got outraged and made a thread in an attempt to lure someone into something. Don't worry about it; the only thing to "get" is that one member trolled and another bit down hard.
  22. Listening to people who you disagree with can be a valuable learning experience too. Do you ever wonder why Charles Manson, David Duke or Caitlyn Jenner think the way they do? Do you ever wonder why blacks are at odds with police, why blacks are killing blacks at an alarming rate? I do, and would love to listen to their world views - does it mean that I'd agree with them? No, but I'm sure i'd learn something new. The second you heard that something negative was said about a females, you shut down, don't care to know context and simply wish the offender into a cornfield. That's the way many of your ilk operate - not me. BTW - It's also noteworthy that geniuses like this dude aren't the most socially savvy people in the world.
  23. This dude that all you women are hating on has been a major player in the fight against breast cancer. But, who cares, he's just an old mysogonistic bastard...right? In the early 1980s, Tim Hunt discovered the first cyclin molecule. He made use of another organism in his experiments, Arbacia, a sea urchin. In his experiments, he found strange bands with a basic behavior of strange disappearance which turned out to occur about 10 minutes before each cellular division. He called these bands cyclins because the levels of these proteins vary periodically during the cell cycle. Cyclins are proteins that are formed and then degraded during each cell cycle. This explains their varying levels. The cyclins bind to the CDK molecules, thereby regulating the CDK activity and selecting the proteins to be phosphorylated. Cyclins have no catalytic activity and CDKs are inactive in the absence of its partner cyclin. When a CDK is activated by its partner cyclin, it activates or deactivates proteins that in turn control the entry of cells into the next phase of the cell cycle This discovery has great impact in cancer research. Chromosome alterations can be caused by faulty cell cycle control, defective S phase or uncontrolled cyclin-CDK activation. These chromosomal abnormalities are directly related to the development of cancer cells. Developments in the field of cancer diagnosis via this discovery include the fact that detecting increased levels of CDK-molecules and cyclins are sometimes found in human tumors like breast cancer and brain tumor. In the field of cancer therapy, inhibitors of CDK-molecules are now being tested for its effects in cancer treatment.
