  1. Well, we vote in one person (or party) and are fine to let them make all the big decisions for us - what could go wrong? We don'' have referendums in Canada - not really, and most Canadians are fine with that system. Just refer to the gay marriage thread. Special interest groups have been calling the shots regarding policy for years - screw the majority, lets appease the minorities.
  2. Yes! and...Really, you need a cite to know that...really?
  3. Not all democracies are created equal.
  4. Well, you did take a male health issue and find a way of making women out to be victims of this issue. But, maybe if that's the way we sell it to the government and public, we'll see some policy change.
  5. It's a good idea, maybe something that a PAC club or something can arrange. Teachers won't do it, so it has to a volunteer group.
  6. No, you're right. I suppose their are a few forward thinking Arab countries who give money to certain groups. I should've separated my post by paragraphs because government and people are 2 different areas.
  7. I don't give a good god damn what the UN thinks our government should be doing. We give $billions of dollars directly around the world. But, Canada and Canadians are not just government. Canadians as citizens give, quite liberally, i'll add to every nation that needs our help. Tsunamis, Earthquakes whatever...Canadians are first in line to help out. I know people who travel as a group to these disaster areas. Oddly, they never seem to encounter Arabs in their journeys...Americans, Israelis, Brits, Aussies, Germans, Dutch and even some Russians - but never Arabs.
  8. Whew! good thing you found something somewhere from someone else to back-up a ridiculous statement. I was beginning to think you were just trolling.
  9. Did i miss a post where someone (obviously fat) complained about donating...well anything?
  10. Canada did vote on releasing Quebec. As for all the other things, Clifford Olson and whatnot does not directly concern the public - that's what courts are for. Courts should not decide on public policy any more than religion should - that should be left to the people. For example; A politician shouldn't be allowed to pay for a new sports facility without a vote from the people. A government should manage our money, create jobs and tend to infrastructure, not decide our moral compass for us. Our government wanted to put forth Harmonized sales tax, the people voted against it - that's democracy. Cretien was called "the crazy king of Canada" because he walked around saying "I make the decisions for all Canadians".
  11. WTF! You've made no point, and you obviously can't read.
  12. Canada is always donating money, food, rescue workers, doctors...whatever, every time there is a problem or disaster in the world. Why? Because we are a great country. What is your point?
  13. The point is; you're ok giving one person absolute power - I am not. What if the PM in Ireland (I know he was a yes vote), said "No, I won't allow it"?
  14. Like a ruler or a king! Not me, If the majority says OK to gay marriage (or guns or abortion etc.) - then so be it, that's democracy at it's best.
  15. Everything should be based on referendum. Democracy is the idea that the people make the rules. Majority rule...or at least they should. It's shameful that the people can vote one way on an issue, only to have one single judge (sometimes a couple more, I suppose) overturn the wishes of the people.
  16. I agree, but the lefties seem to have the philosophy that choosing or preferring one thing over another is in all cases "discriminatory". To be patriotic, is equal to discriminating against every other country. Any preference to one thing is equal to discriminating against the opposite and that's exactly what the left fights so hard against doing.
  17. Have you taken the quote out of context? If not, do you mind explaining further?
  18. OK - A Priest, Rabbi and KKK member get on a plane...Aw forget it!
  19. The police may not have been able to stop the bikers from going in, but why on earth would they allow ordinary citizens to enter the restaurant? If I was in there and the police later said they were outside because they knew something would happen, Id be infuriated at the police.
  20. Oh, those kooky Muslims - we love 'em anyway. Right girls?
  21. Ok, so here we have a situation; Corey Perry is just doing his job and he is getting harassed by the fans - 20,000 of them. You might think it's just harmless fun or you might think it's just a bunch of idiots - and knowing they're Winnipeggers, who would blame you...but wait! What we have here is a clear case of sexual harassment. I know this because Ive read every post in this thread. Here is a person at his workplace being harassed by people in the crowd - Calling him "Katy Perry" and it's offensive. Wilbur may not agree, but then again as long as someone finds offence - that's good enough for a harassment charge. It is also said that if a sexist component is added (as Wilbur and Jacee attest), then it should be noted that by referring to him as the female pop star "Katy Perry" the crowd is making a clear statement challenging his sexuality - WoW! Now we have a clear case of sexism and sexual harassment. Now, I wasn't sure if this was a strong enough case but, like WCR suggests, it comes down to the victim impacts. On the video you can clearly see that the crowd is directing their abuse and violence toward him and he is bothered - maybe even threatened, uncomfortable, mortified and humiliated. This isn't harmless, this is abusive behaviour by 20,000 Winnipeggers - WCR won't understand because she's a woman, but i'm a man and know full well how this person must feel.
  22. Ok, the big question on my mind is; Are Latinos white? It seems they change between white and brown depending what argument is being made. Dems always say that the Repubs don't like Latinos because they're brown, then proceed to claim them as white, when it benefits their white crime stats.
  23. I think he is talking about the idiots harassing Corey Perry, but being from Winnipeg, you already knew that, didn't you?
  24. I'm mostly guessing, but considering the math; 9 dead and at least 4 of those by the hands of police, leaves about 5 dead bikers. there were 5 different gangs, but mostly Bandidos and Cossacks. Assuming some amount of equality (and keeping the other gangs in the back pocket), logic would say that the police killed more bikers than any particular gang did (unless all the dead were either Cossacks or Bandidos - which I'd consider highly unlikely). But yeah, just a logic based guess!
