Are humans really responsible for climate change?
OftenWrong replied to Canuck100's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Environmentalism has been marketed as "for profit", with the intent to make it attractive to investors. Thus it becomes an industry. That is all I said and it is by and large true. I never mentioned conspiracy, that is not in my view realistic. By theft I presume you mean fraud. That is quite possible, and likely, whenever there is really big money involved. Feel free to ruminate on this, and the grievous error you have made, and draw whatever moral conclusions you wish. -

Nope. Your persistent need to descend into partisanship in every discussion is disingenuous. It's not as simple as just "left" vs. "right". But China being practically a vanguard of the left, I'd assume leftists such as yourself were well pleased. -

I said no such thing. You have deliberately misquoted me, and also personally called me out in a thread, without linking to my user name. Learn to write in this forum without attacking posters, and you will not be reported. -

Really would like to know what I have published that you consider to be a lie. -

Yeah you hit that one right on the head. Western economies, markets essentially exploit the fact that environmental regulations are quite lacking in third world countries. That is one reason they manufacture goods much cheaper than they can be made here. Outright ban might not be tenable but I could see a good reason to apply tariffs. Their ability to circumvent regulations gives them an unfair advantage. Make their goods more expensive to buy, unless they meet certain standards. But none of our current leaders have the guts to do anything like this, and we all know why. -
Is God’s plan on track? Were we created to be sinners?

Don't know about stats, never was much for numbers. All that math stuff sounds like a bit of a flim-flam, to me. But the mass extinction of species happening today, that doesn't sound good. Surely the Dawkins guy whom you've linked here would have known about that, him being a biologist, and thus supporter of the global industrialists, the so-called progressive technocratic elite. -

From crumby plans one can make crumb-cake. Which is my favourite, by the way! Mom always made it good. -
I think Trump did remarkably well during the first two years, given the huge animosity he faced in the media, intense partisanship, and problems with politicized courts among other things. Interestingly, he could have done more but for the fact that republicans didn't have their own show together enough to take advantage of the power they held. The 2018 election loss by Republicans was not that severe. Really it says that Trump is just a normal president. There is no national crisis as far as voters are concerned, and perhaps all of this media turmoil is just mere show and tell. The fact that the GOP didn't completely tank in the face of intense criticism from mainstream media outlets is actually quite surprising! CNN has been foreshadowing Trump's demise for years. "Rumours of my death... " etc. Way I see it, the crap CNN is selling is getting cold, and the more shrill they get, the more ridiculous they, and thus the left, look. Moving forward, this can only help Trump. So Dems would be wise to tread a bit more softly, show that they can govern and get things done, by making use of the president. It's a bit of a fine line to walk, and the problem is, they've portrayed themselves at complete odds with anything Trump is involved in. So, expect to hear some double-talk around that issue.

Conservatives Silent on Homosexuality
OftenWrong replied to Robert Greene's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Nonsense. Many conservatives have gay family members, and they are not hated. Dick Cheney is perhaps a "celebrity" example. Hint: Conservative is not a unified culture. There is not a unified set or morals, code of ethics nor official position on "hating gays". -

Well it sure looks like this shit is pretty screwed up down here, if you know what I mean. Apparently big mistakes are allowed. -

"Conservatives" being criticized for not speaking out against homosexuality? Such rubbish. -
CBC: "Right now, just over 1100 km of the US-Mexico border has a wall. More than 2000 km does not."
Thank you. So, not a radical idea by a madman then.

America under President Trump

Noted. Might I say, you are also rather magnanimous, at times... j/k -
Alas, I think we're doomed and that's what's going to happen. Justin is still riding the polls and all he has to do is lay low for a while, and keep scoring cheap points. Even if he screws up, the alternatives are looking pretty grim. They really aren't alternatives at all. Yet, had Bernier taken the CPC leadership I feel they would have had a fighting chance. Choosing smiling Andy Scheer as their leader only helped little Justin. Funny how that works, eh?
