Promoting good things would be an effective counter to extremism, on both sides. For every media an equal and opposite media. Certainly forgiveness is a Christian virtue, central tenet to our culture and laws. Not sure if the same can be said, for Islam. Seems they like their punishments.

Certainly, there is a push. Look at the new Dems in America under president Trump and what they are selling. But they are just proposing ideas. In practice, there is a push to improve wealth distribution within the US capitalist system, but not by giving handouts, but in terms of tax breaks and creating incentives to work. So not government mandated redistribution. Corporate tax breaks make a difference. The income level of workers has increased in AUPT, by giving raises. This is a different model than draining the workers who earn their income by increasing tax coffers, and giving handouts to a growing base of welfare recipients.
