America under President Trump
OftenWrong replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Apparently Chinese technology comes with spyware already written right into the BIOS. That's why Trump has banned use of technology by Huawei within the US. I'm fine with Canada doing likewise, if our government has the guts. But we don't. Chinese technology? To the devil with you I say! -

Good, I hate that shit. So does everyone else I know. Not only is it the cheapest of crap that can be made, it's made by some poor, uneducated sad sack. Production cost, 10 cents, because they don't need to dispose of the waste in a responsible manner. Neither do they need safety standards for their employees. So now, you go on and tell me why I should want to buy that crap, and keep them in business. Go on... Very doubtful and there is no indication of hostility or threats. No need to lose sleep over it. Per your own post, To me that sounds like they had a good meeting and now just need to go home for a while, and talk it over with the big boss. They'll be right back. -

Wippee. Considering the alternatives between these two, trade war sounds pretty darn good to me. -

And like I said, we don't need to. Conservatives are now running things; this is only the beginning. Trump's gonna win, and he knows it. I predict the next US president after Trump will also be Republican, and In Canada, Doug Ford will soon be the PM. Conservatism is on the rise across this great nation. There is no need for us to fire a shot, when we have the authority, and the legal POWER to make sure you people never get the chance to get back in like that again. -
Are humans really responsible for climate change?
OftenWrong replied to Canuck100's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The narrative from the left is hopeless. They're not even sure what's more important to decreasing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Total CO2 production, or CO2 production per capita? -
Well thanks but the point was about skin colour in that discussion. It's not a valid point to the thread. It detracts from the wonderful quality of this debate... lmao You mentioned the conflict is between alt-right terrorism and Islamic terrorism. Interesting point. Islamists are winning. They are more organized, have an army of followers, and have a decent amount of funding. We discussed the funding earlier. There's evidence that certain rogue nations like Iran are providing funding for Islamic terrorist operations against the west. Alt-right groups also have funding, but the alt-right terrorist is a loner. He is a lunatic fringe. No one that I know of applauds his evils acts. Yet we have seen in the blessed and helpful media, footage of Muslims cheering while watching news of some massacre. I'm sorry that the public perception sees this as the general attitude. To the media it made for good airplay.

We right wingers are far more cool than that. But feel free to elucidate on how you'd like to lash out violently towards us in a spitting, screaming, rage. -

Exactly. Time for a distraction while we quietly move along... -

The guy who fixed my roof last summer was wearing one. I asked him where he got it, said he bought it when he was in Florida. I'll tell you something else too that you ain't seen yet, many people in my little town actually LIKE Donald Trump, and are happy to see he won the US election versus Hillary. But then here in eastern ON there are many farmers, people not connected to the urban areas. Unlike big-city liberals such as yourself. Maybe you should get out a little more. -

So people like you don't have a heart attack. -
I'm perfectly ok with that which opposes Islamist terrorism... remembering that Islam is not a skin colour.

Why cite, surely you agree the media is often controlled in high profile legal cases. Are there no publication bans? It did seem like information about the Danforth one was being kept out of public view, though we are not always told why. What are we talking about? Whether or not people care more if the shooter was white? A rather macabre and stupid discussion. The poster who raised that question exposed that they judge through these base assertions. I would never even consider it. I assert that most Canadians do not judge such situations by the shooter's skin colour, and will still be just as upset if a little girl is killed, regardless of her skin.

The question was specific, and I gave a specific answer. It was about the public's attitude toward white shooters. My first thought was about the Vegas shooting. Is the public responsible for what the media covers, or the extent to which they do it? For example, the Danforth shooter was also covered "less", and people wanted to know more about it. On the other hand, the shooting in Las Vegas had lots of coverage. Doesn't seem like media air-time alone is a useful rule, as in some cases it is being controlled.

Yes that's correct... he has to say something specifically racist, for it to be racist. -
Garlic Festival Shooter. . .

How sad that people here tried to make a political issue out of it, without even knowing the details. I guess the left will do anything just to fling crap on people. -

What implication? So what if a Dem called Alabama rat-infested. Since when is being a Dem or Republican a race. You people have stopped making sense entirely. -

I read what he said about Baltimore, but don't know why it was raised. Trump tends to fire back at people who take a shot at him so I wouldn't be surprised if there was some back-and-forth going on before this came up. I read what Trump said, but I don't see any actual racism in the words he used. Please someone explain the parts he said that imply racism. -
Yes, we do.

I only use ignore for complete idiots, not regular members. Dog has answered you well enough, and you can also see what I wrote to MH about this. All those things you listed are nice stories. I don't doubt that individual good deeds and personal accomplishments are being done daily, but there has to be more done to promote reform of Islam. Muslims should be the first ones to stand up and denounce religious terror, but when something happens we see many of them do not. In order for that attitude to change, Islam has to rediscover itself within the context of the modern world and let go of those old patriarchal ideas, for example any that justify domestic violence.
