What has happened in this election is we have a "new" media. The bloggers. They have filled the void of reporters who have virtually given up on "investigative" reporting and have taken the easy route to their stories. Whether this is from budget cuts or laziness I don't know,but they seem to have lost their interest in going the one step further in a story. They have basically just fed of each other for information. Any story of relevance is usually found by columnists that do go a little further in the presentation. I'm amazed at the information that the bloggers have come up with in their own investigations. These bloggers have now become a source even for the media. They have also become the watchdog of the media disputing or correcting misinformation.

I also heard Shirley talk about the "only 3% profit". This bothers me,is she trying to say if it's low profit it's okay to have private healthcare? I always thought the NDP were against private healthcare, or are they now going to say it's okay as long as the profits are low? Odd stance to take if you're totally against private healthcare.

Melanie, Yes you're right it is the Churchill(a large and spread out riding I may add) race that I give to Bev Desjarlais as an independent and former NDP MP. She had this position for 8 years,so I would think she did a good job for the constituents there. Her opponents Actress Tina Keeper is running for the Liberals(first time) and newcomer Niki Ashton, 23 daughter of provincial NDP cabinet minister Steve Ashton representing the NDP. Nezir Ahmad, current city councillor and former mayor of the northeastern community of Flin Flon is representing the Conservatives. Lot of good choices for Churchill,and the race should be tight,but I think Desjarlais will win because of her experience as a past MP. I don't think her stand on SSM will be an issue and may get her votes for taking a stand against forced NDP party line voting. -CES

Let me add my two cents too. Eureka, As you always appear to advocate for the homeless what has your party of choice done in the last 12 years(10 of those as a majority) to REDUCE homelessness in this country,other than having a leader who claimed his best friend was homeless and always talked to him. What have the Liberals of social conscience done for these people with their surpluses and phoney social concerns. Your answer of Mulroney being the root cause is not an answer. It's been a decade that change could have been made and the numbers of homeless just get higher and higher. What have the Liberals done to help the aboriginals improve their living standards over their mandate? Aboriginal living conditions are worse today than they ever have been. Nothing has changed. Billions have been spent but nothing has improved. And you feel you should support this party to continue this kind of phoney social conscience? Shame on you for believing that the pseudo social Liberals havethe ability to solve Canada's problems.

Good question to ask Martin, as he shows Quebecers marshall law/anti-military ads, but doesn't show them in English Canada. Great message to send to Canadians for the federalist cause. Pick one: Seeing Paul Martin for what he really is. Marketing is better than the Liberals. A better brainwashing technique. Receiving Better booze on the campaign trail. Talking to Harper. Evolution. Realisation that they were wrong about Harper.

CBC It's still running in Quebec. So Martin's answer to Unity and being Captain Canada is to make sure Quebec sees the army in the streets ad and remind them of the FLQ crisis and how Trudeau really put the army out into the streets. And at the same time try not to offend English Canada, but offend all the soldiers we have. Sounds like a really smart Unity idea. What moron is running their campaign?
