Canadian "visible minority" term is racist
Canuck E Stan replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The "silly-ass term" was coined in 1984 by Judge Rosalie Abella who released a Commission's report and used the term. ...for the purposes of employment equity, "members of visible minorities". -
“visibly minority” is racist term-UN Time to stop being racist my fellow Canadians, politically correctness says they are "Racialized persons or groups". If that term applies to race, colour, descent or national or ethnic origin, what then is a person of a religious group like Muslims or a Jews supposed to be called?

The Liberals have their own "Stockwell Day" his name is Stephane Dion. Stephane Dion has no clue Stephane Dion?, maybe they should change his name to Celine Dion. -

For a force twice the size of the one now? Considering the population has doubled in the last 60 years, and presently Canada has only 64,000 soldiers protecting some 36 million people, even doubling doesn't seem enough. Canada's population history -
The Conservative Spending Spree

So first you accuse me of being totally in favour of the spendings, now you say I haven't said anything about the spendings. An apology should be in order for these accusations. In my posts(if you would actually read them with some thought) I said that this spending business was started by Trudeau, and subsequently has been done by every PM since. Since Trudeau made it part of the constitution, and abused it to the point of putting Canada deep in debt for the next couple of centuries, and it is allowable without Parliament"s input, why are you making issue over and over again with Harper using a tool the constitution has given PM's? You've made your point..... once is enough, or as I asked before,do you think people here on the forum are too stupid to get your point and you have to repeat it over and over. -

Firstly, I would suggest you don't make statements of what I approve of, and what I don't. Where did I state I approved of all the spending? Secondly I have asked you some questions in regards to the topic of this thread in my previous posts, that you (if you want to discuss this topic) have ignored. Instead you prefer to rant about how you don't like the announcements. I like a good discussion, reading your rants with the same view offers nothing to any type discussion. Your viewpoint has been stated and restated, once is enough. Do you think people are that stupid on this forum that they need to read your repeated view point multiple times on the same thread? As for this thread, it doesn't offend me, having to read your repeated message over and over within it does, as does your suggesting I find another thread. -

........and said it and said and said it. Maybe if you can't add anything new to the discussion except for announcing the announcements, you should give it a break. -

So why is your beef with only Harper? You should have a beef about spending power that has special meaning in the constitution, the one that the Liberal leader, Trudeau started. Although the optics appears wrong, every PM has used and abused this special spending power since Trudeau. And all of them have used this tactic after sessions, during election campaigns or any time they wanted to. Your endeavor to make it sound like this is something only Harper is doing is totally erroneous and is purposely done in a attempt to mislead. -
I doubt it,you're a Liberal, and Liberals are known to lie. This forum has you hooked, you'll be back.

The Conservative Spending Spree
Canuck E Stan replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Something brought to you by P.E. Trudeau,a specialized meaning of government spending. Canadian federalism and the Spending Power of the Canadian Parliament Trudeau never made any announcements,he just did it.I'll take the announcement of spending any day, over the unannounced legacy of spending that Trudeau left us. Eric Margolis, October 8,2000 And you're complaining about announced spending? -

How far back in Canadian political history does one have to go to where thoughts of Parliament were involved in all the government announcements? -
Who are "all the people who are leaving"? You keep saying you're leaving........but the truth is,you just can't do it.

The same Ontario high school graduates are building Canadian made Toyotas and obviously not fast enough. Toyota is building a new plant to increase production. So ask yourself why one plant less than a hundred miles away from the other is laying off while the other is working overtime. The answer is of course in the product they are selling, nothing to do with China, nothing to do with unions, just all to do with the product they make and sell. Is it the responsibility of government to bail out a company that made a wrong judgement on what product they make? Who's fault is it that someone with a high school education has no skills except the skill of putting nuts and bolts on autos? Should they not take responsibility for themselves? Do we owe these people a guarantee of a high paying non skilled job? Automobiles are a consumer item and like any consumer items the consumer picks what they want. If a consumer isn't convinced a product is worth purchasing, the manufacturer has two choices, get out of the business or make a product the consumer will buy.

Would the BIG-3 pull out of NA
Canuck E Stan replied to Topaz's topic in Canada / United States Relations
I'm with you on your choices of vehicles. You're right about North American cars, repairs are usually run of the mill and most shops can do the work. I was given a Jetta by a friends, my first import valued at about $5,000. Milage, 154,000 km. Local VW dealer had told them it needs a new transmission....cost $8,000 for a rebuilt, $12,000 for a new transmission,a bump in front wheel for curb damage(winter slide) $4500(replacing everything that's attached to the wheel, whether it needs to or not). VW dealers policy is to not repair, but to replace. Transmission only required a speed sensor, less than $85.But I did have to purchase a special VW tool to remove the single VW screw holding it down,I replace the special (why?)VW screw with a regular socket head cap screw. Bump damage required rim, tire and control arm, final cost $150. This is how good imports are when repairs are required by their dealers. A mechanic friend told me that before a person buys a car they should ask questions about repairing the car. Things like how much to replace a timing belt, cost of replacing a front headlight, how much for an oil change. The answers to these questions may shock some. No thanks,I'll stick to my North American built autos. My 1985 Chevette,is now 22 years old and Crappy Tire can fix what I can't. As to how much does a timing belt cost to replace in my car,$185,a headlight-$10.00,an oil change $22.00. How do these prices compare with the imports of the same year or newer? -
Jobs disappear and re-appear, that's been this way since the 60's.Toyota workers presently earn more than the CAW workers producing cars. I don't see Toyota saying they are going to pull out, just the opposite, they're building more plants to accommodate the demand. The unions might be in trouble but those companies that know the customer demand will always survive. The Big Three blew it by being over zealous about the big vehicles, now they're paying the price, but I believe they will come back in a big way and surprise everyone. Chrysler is already getting involved in some innovative research that could have a big impact on future vehicles. Other companies will also come here to build because this is a very profitable market for auto companies.

Laibar Singh-Scheduled to be deported to India

More bleeding hearts looking for sympathy for Singh. Refugee issue riddled with misinformation An article "Special to the Vancouver Sun" by Harsha Walia- is with No One is Illegal, a human and refugee rights organization. Easiest way to get into Canada, is to just arrive. It's your right as a illegal refugee with false documents. Why bother with legal methods. Added: Singh-Abbotsford News -

Why even have the post numbers at all? It doesn't mean anything relative to arguing or discussing on the forum. The date of joining is sufficient as is the member's number. Being able to post day and night 24/7/365 doesn't mean anything on this forum. Also placing a tag on levels of senoirity based on anything is juvenile and should be discarded altogether. Kimmy and RB are right.
