Serious only in placing too much importance to what they think, that it requires spending so much time blogging their opinions all day long on this forum.

Calgary Stampede v. Hajj Stampedes
Canuck E Stan replied to jbg's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
From what I understand, there are some similarities between the two cultural events, but the body count is extrememy low in Calgary's Stampede, if non existant. The Calgary stampedes occur mainly on the site that is exclusive for this event, usually at western(as in Cowboy)watering holes, here the crowds form in lines to get into these places, even into the dead of night, and they just do not want to leave. Much mind altering beverages are served and ritualistic line dances are performed and where the natives of Stampede culture dress in costumes that resemble the ones their ancestors wore. Some ride wild domestic animals in arenas, where crowds gather to view and applaude.Others ride in mechanical devices that cause them to scream in fear, but yet desire for more of the same. This bizarre event occurs for some 10 days in the summer months and has for almost a century. As you can see there are a lot of similarities. Hope this was helpful. -
Editing Function / Post Edited Line

No don't change it. The old way enabled the poster to actually go back and reword his post without anyone knowing, this way, if a poster tries to change his remarks, everyone will know there was a change made to the original remarks which may influence the presentation of an arguement argument . This includes changing spelling mistakes. I like it. -
Harper Announces Six Arctic Patrol Boats
Canuck E Stan replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Sadly, you are correct. The policy of not having heavy ice breakers is a bad one. We are an Arctic nation. We can't assert ourselves part-time in the area. CTV.ca What the Liberal Defence critic says........ .......which doesn't say anything about anything, especially how the Liberals would do it. Maybe Dion's plan of building more national parks is part of the "more domestic arctic strategy" Speaking of Dion, where are his comments on this defence plan? The Navy people think it's a good deal, getting more ships to cover more area. Rob Huebert, associate director of the University of Calgary's Centre for Military and Strategic Studies: And since the days of Dief the Chief, we've had a lot of Prime Ministers.About time for real defence action for the Arctic. By the way,do the Liberals have a Defence plan? -

From Dion speech in Edmonton on August 28 2006. Dion: We Must Assert our Arctic Sovereignty by Caring I wonder if Dion's "caring" Arctic defence plan will also "change"? -

TEACHERS are entitled to EI benefits?
Canuck E Stan replied to mikedavid00's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
People make choices in life, you have made yours. Maturity can be found in at any age, and I know many young people that are more mature than old people. A dream world is just that a dream.Today's world is one where you set goals for yourself, get an education, save your money and spend it wisely. This is achieveable by anyone who has the desire to work for those goals,it's rewards were not given to them, they earned it. No one needs to "try that sometimes". I could question all the choices you made in your life, but I won't. You made them and you have to live with them. This is a political forum, and your mistakes, choices, and personal issues that has formed your life has no interset to me and I'm sure anyone else.I would suggest if you want to keep discussing your life that you find another forum for that purpose. -

Alberta PCs in trouble?
Canuck E Stan replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I don't know where you got your "plenty of non-PC votes" numbers from, but in this provincial election 97,690 people vote in the first round. The deciding factor in this election was all the other candidates who placed below these top three throwing their support to Stelmach. The second round saw this support go to Stelmach and eliminate Morton(made Minister of Sustainable Resource Development). Morton in turn also gave his support to Stelmach, and in the third round it paid off for Stelmach in a win. * Lyle Oberg:11.9% (made Minister of Finance) * Dave Hancock:7.8% (made Minister of Health and Wellness, Government House Leader) * Mark Norris, 6.9% * Victor Doerksen:0.9% * Gary McPherson:0.8% Alberta PC election Much like the Federal Liberal vote that the media said was a fight between Rae and Iggy, the PC vote was a battle between Morton and Dining. And the results are not much different than Kennedy giving Dion his support, and the Rae people hating Iggy enough to send their votes to Dion too. Your so called "plenty of non-PC vote" was virually non-existant and had nothing to do with Stelmach's win. -

Private Healthcare? Why Not?

Define rich, and why can't all of them or anyone else for that matter, stay home and be in private hospitals and clinics, like those already in BC, Toronto or Quebec? -

So a two tier system is ok if we don't call it a two tier system then? It's good for rich folks to get paid for care, as long as it's not here? What ridiculous logic! Agreed. -

I suggest you get your head out of the sand and stop this two tier, venturing to the states crap. Take a look at some of the health care systems that are better than ours, and find out why and how they are better. Are you afraid of "better"? 'best in world' -

You are denying me the right to be close to my home and with my family during these agonizing times. You are denying me the right to dispense with my pain. Or to not have to wait for a surgery that will take two years before it happens. Thanks for nothing. -

Not to get off topic, but, this has me questioning.... Is the financial savings so great for these dresses that it pays to rent a car from Toronto and go to Buffalo and return, just to look at bridesmaid dresses?
