  1. The US has enough checks and balances in its system to guard against a President taking actions against the best interests of their country. You may now get out from under the bed, no harm will come to you.

  2. I know, right ? Some of them just can't help it....will the real Canadians please stand up ?

  3. Training courses on what? How they are going to make Ontario a sanctuary province even though the city of Toronto is already having a housing crises to try and find places for all the criminal illegals to live in. Or about how to tax more to be able to create a more bigger socialist government? If the NDP had a clue as to how to really run a country it would be a bloody miracle. Their aim is more like how to drive a country into the swamp. Socialist/communist radicalism is not what Ontario needs. What it needs is more freedom, less taxes and less government, not more.

  4. And I'm reminded again that some Canadians can't debate Canadian politics without resorting to comparisons with the US.

  5. Well, it is very much in keeping with past Canadian behaviour....drawing similarities to anything American or American "style" is a mainstay in Canadian political conflicts. Trump just continues this Canadian tradition and value.

  6. This seems more realistic, conservatives create massive deficits through massive spending programs and tax cuts, then claim we have a debt problem, which they created and of course, only conservatism can stop. It is a pretty clever plan when you think about it. Create a problem, then claim you are the only solution to the problem you made. That would be like a tire store owner who also owns a sprinkler/security company slashing tires at night and burning down other tire shops to get business and the only solution of course is to hand him your money.

  7. Ford will increase spending like Harris and Eves. The debt will increase no matter who wins.

  8. People who think Horwath cannot win don't get it. There are 3 parties who get 95% of the vote. The conservative vote is 40%, which is basically their ceiling. The rest of the voters are left wing. Now that they see Wynne cannot win, the 20% of liberal supporters will abandon ship and vote NDP, which is why they are now tied at 37% with cons now. Expect a NDP landslaide as liberals abandon ship and try to block Ford.

  9. Good to see so many despondent posters jump back into the fray. I think the last poll by Forum was an outlier with the NDP at 47% - but there's no doubt it's a real horse race. It appears neck and neck right now. The PCs tend to have a very good ground game to get the vote out so that might give them a bit of an advantage. All told, who the heck knows what's going to happen? This is Ontario - home of the self-flagellating masochists. The interesting side show is that in order to actually win, the NDP would have to pummel/destroy/annihilate the Liberal vote - which more than likely would cause them to lose party status.

  10. Tony Soprano was a very popular character in Canada....consuming HBO's series in biggly numbers. America has the labels you need to fight it out in a provincial election.

  11. Actually, it was not right before the election, but two and a half years ago, before Ford was PC leader. Nevertheless the allegation by the Liberals are serious and should be looked into by the authorities. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/doug-ford-pc-memberships-audio-recording-kinga-surma-1.4675893

  12. Nevertheless, his point is valid. Those who pay no income tax aren't going to care much about how high income taxes must rise in order to give them ever more government goodies and funding. This represents a block of people who will always vote for whichever party promises them more stuff, without regard to costs. After all, they aren't the ones who'll be paying for that stuff. And as the size of this block of citizens grows, politicians will do more and more to cater to their desires for more programs and 'stuff' to make them happy. This is basic human behaviour.

  13. Then legalize prostitution and sex robots. Problem solved. With respect to having kids, legalize the sale of sperm, eggs, surrogacy services and artificial wombs. Problem solved. Canada needs more freedom in general.

  14. What's sensible thinking....is of course, "bigotry" to some, which usually are the ones who are bigots themselves. They're called, "anti-semites," to be precised. A lot of Jews are......liberals! No surprise there. And I think....there's some kinda psychology in it. I think too that, liberal Jews mistakenly think they'd be spared by anti-semitism just because they are "anti-semite" themselves. That'll kinda be like a gay who tries to justify Islamic terrorism and saying the west deserves what it gets - mistakenly thinking the islamists wouldn't want him dead for being gay!

  15. He is a perfect example of Trumpism. A fake grassroots populist without an actual platform utilizing my-team-versus-your-team politics to eke out a win by convincing idiots that voting for him is a vote against "libruls".

  17. I applaud the Prime Minister for his restraint in this matter. I suppose the real story is they couldn't afford the royalties to get the rights to Khadr's image.
