Let's start with Trudeau's press conference yesterday, at which he lied and said Canada had no ability to produce vaccine. Canada does, in fact, have that ability. It has a number of large pharmaceutical production companies here, as well as a government lab in Montreal all capable of producing at the very least the Astrozeneca vaccine. Why aren't they? We have no answer and can only speculate that the government never bothered to make any arrangements for them to do so. Australia, for example, paid the company to manufacture this vaccine and has been producing it now for weeks, on spec, in anticipation of good test results. Other countries have been doing the same. Then again, other countries signed their agreements to buy vaccine from multiple developers a months ago. Trudeau has bragged repeatedly about how we've bought massive amounts of vaccines from a variety of producers. What he never mentions is the timeline for when we'll get them. Another thing he never mentions is that Canada was the last country in the western world to sign agreements with these producers. Everyone else beat us to it. Think maybe that has something to do with why Australia will start vaccinating people in December, along with the US, UK and others, while Canada won't start until some vaguely defined period 'in the early months" of next year? This is from August's MacLeans Assuming those phase 3 trials pan out, reckon on rolling up your sleeve in the first half of 2021. But also reckon that the vaccine is coming to Canada late: probably months later than the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the 27 European Union countries. Why? Because the Trudeau government dithered. When our closest allies put their money down and placed orders for over a billion vaccine doses, our government failed to keep up. The dithering went on so long that there is only one country left in North America or Western Europe that has not confirmed its order—and that’s Canada. Staking out the back of the queue means that we might beg for a little vaccine in a hurry for our health care workers or most vulnerable, but come to ordinary Canadians, expect to wait. https://www.macleans.ca/opinion/how-the-liberals-are-bungling-the-vaccine-endgame/1 point

The state has already certified the election, and this will be immediately overturned by the Pennsylvania supreme court. The law allowing for mail-in votes was passed by the GOP controlled legislature more than a year ago and has been used in two elections since without anyone complaining. Like usual, Republican extremists only want to find things unfair when they lose. McCullough, a Republican, said the GOP was likely to succeed in establishing that the procedure by which Pennsylvania’s GOP-controlled legislature instituted new mail-in voting methods as part of the 2019 Act 77 violated the state’s constitution. The judge didn’t say whether she thinks that means that any votes cast by mail-in ballot must be disqualified. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-11-28/pennsylvania-judge-backs-trump-claim-in-case-over-mail-voting1 point

Okay, it looks like the video above that I linked, jumped the gun a little bit. The judge in question was responding with an opinion only, saying that the Republicans who filed the lawsuit(seeking that the state's certification of the election results be set aside) would probably win it. Here's further analysis of the situation. Pennsylvania Commonwealth Judge Patricia McCullough made the assessment as part of an opinion explaining her rationale for blocking Pennsylvania’s election certification. A group of Republican lawmakers and candidates sued the Keystone State earlier this week, arguing that the state legislature’s mail-in voting law—Act 77—violated the commonwealth’s constitution.1 point

True, society is just a bunch of children that need to be told, then forced to do the right thing. Love www.amazon.com/vaccines, that is funny .1 point

Okay, this story just happened last night, and at this point I can't find much on it with google. I'm not sure why, it's pretty big news. A Pennsylvania Judge ruled last night that the election as it was conducted violated their State Constitution. Mailing out ballots en mass is the issue. The PA State Constitution is very specific on why a person is allowed to use a mail in ballot. So the Judge, Patricia McCullough, has ruled that the Pennsylvania election was unconstitutional. She is giving the State legislature the power to choose the electors. The legislature is controlled by the Republicans.1 point

I'm happy to bow to your superior knowledge on this; I'm not being sarcastic, either, I'm not very versed in economic systems and you've always struck me as someone who is. So will you provide your definition of capitalism?1 point

That's opinion based on feelings, not supported by fact. JT is not a great leader and he's accomplished little of note that I can see, but that could be said of many leaders. Yes, there've been scandals, just like there've been scandals for virtually every PM that I can remember. He's pretty average, really, but he's not a disaster by any stretch.1 point

With Christmas just around the corner, here you are disparaging snowflakes. I might suspect that you are a big fan of the Grinch. Driving on the wrong side of the road is not all that good of an idea, but it might prevent you from getting covid. Wearing a mask however will not. We have been told since the beginning of the crisis that the measures are meant to flatten the curve, put simply this means spreading the same number of infections over a longer period of time. You may think that you can hide from the virus forever, but viruses have been doing their job for millions of years, and are better at finding you than you are at hiding from them. With all the things that enrich ones life being taken away, the lockdowns might seem like forever though. We are told that the measures are to prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed, but there are on average less than 2 covid patients per hospital in Canada. Perhaps closing the hospitals at a time when there were months long waiting lists for essential procedures is partly to blame for their plight. We have had eight months of restrictions, what is your target, 10, 12 maybe 20 months? For some reason people are happy to wait it out, and aren't concerned that Trudeau has borrowed another 300 billion dollars adding to an accumulated federal debt of 900 billion (1.4 trillion when you throw in provincials debts). Of course with revenues drastically reduced at the same time it becomes a much larger problem. Time is not a luxury that we enjoy. Ignoring this problem and waiting to see how it plays out is kind of like playing on the railway tracks, and trying to ignore that annoying sound of a horn that keeps getting louder, and louder. This is also an effective way of preventing oneself from contacting the virus. Maybe it is time to get back to living responsibly, enjoy life again, and not leave our children a legacy of debt that will last for generations.1 point

The quotes are always about "new infections" and never about the deaths of young, healthy people. At the height of covid we still had more Fentanyl deaths than C19 (suspected) deaths and the god-damned Libelars still aren't doing anything about Fentanyl. We've pushed hundreds of billions of dollars into C19 now, through CERB and all the business losses/shrunken tax base. This is madness.1 point

Amir Attaran, a professor at the University of Ottawa with the School of Public Health and Faculty of Law, said the Prime Minister’s comments are “beyond preposterous” and that while Canada doesn’t have the ability to mass-produce a vaccine, it could make enough for vulnerable populations and health care workers. “We’re going to end up being months later getting the vaccine to Canada in large part because the federal government failed to do the obvious thing, to license it as other countries have,” said Prof. Attaran, an immunologist by training. He pointed out that even though the AstraZeneca vaccine hasn’t yet been approved, India and Australia are already producing it in order to have stockpiles in place for when it is approved. The different vaccines under development require different technology to produce, and while Canada doesn’t have the equipment needed for all of the possible vaccines, it does have the technology to manufacture the vaccine proposed by AstraZeneca, Prof. Attaran said. That vaccine, developed in partnership with Oxford University, is also among the least complicated to roll-out, because unlike the other vaccines, this one can be stored and transported at normal fridge temperatures. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-canada-will-get-covid-19-vaccines-after-other-countries-due-to-lack-of/1 point

The Trudeau government chose to partner with China for vaccine development, testing, and manufacture early on (CanSino), but that didn't work out. This is one of the reasons that Canada was late to the game for procurement of vaccine doses from other sources.1 point

This is inexcusable. People should be asking for his resignation at every press conference he holds going forward.1 point

We did have the debt from World War 2 close to being paid off, but then we were burdened by our first Trudeau. Pierre was Prime minister from most of 1968 until 1984. During that time he presided over a 738% increase in our national debt. The difference with this Trudeau is that while he is writing cheques that we have no hope of covering he is encouraging his premiers to destroy the tax base. If you think that unprecedented spending and fiscal irresponsibility will save people from homelessness and hunger, you might want to revisit that thought.1 point
