Trump was not on his game...for certain. Which was too bad as this was his chance to be the reasonable one to a bunch of new people. Nobody was reasonable last night...moderator included. That it has come to this...me supporting Trump...it shows how far they've gone left on the Democrat side. I can not and will not endorse Communism in America...even if it is disguised as an old fool with Mao's Red Guard behind him pulling the strings. It doesn't sell well to this cowboy. Unlike the kids all riled-up on the streets, I can recall WHY my neighbors are Hungarian and Czech.

The biggest failure of the night was the moderator, IMO. He should have anticipated this. You don't open the debate the way he did, with these guys. You lay out the law right at the beginning, and then you enforce it.

Trump vs Moderator

The government in response to a viral infection locked down the Canadian population. The idea was to lessen the amount of contact, thereby lessening the amount of infections. Most of the infections though were not happening in people with the most contacts, for example children in schools, transit users, or waitresses and others in the service industry. Most of the infections were happening in long term care facilities where the victims of the virus had limited contacts. I am not saying that the number of contacts one has is not a significant risk factor, but that is possible. The government shut down schools, small businesses, live concerts, sporting events and social events such as weddings etc.. This caused massive unemployment, the failure of multiple thousands of small, and several large businesses while doing little to protect the most vulnerable, who largely were confined to bed. I am not saying that the government measures were misguided and ineffective in controlling the disease, but it is possible. Am I saying that our government sabotaged our economy, caused the largest economic contraction in history, attacked our social fabric, compromised the education of our children and diminished our quality of life for almost no benefit to anyone at all. I am not saying that, but it is possible. The number of infections spiked early, and has been decreasing steadily since then. I am not saying that this is what would happen if there was a small percentage of the population that were susceptible to the disease and most of them have now have had it, but that is possible. Am I not saying that this is the worst government in the history of Canada, that they completely dropped the ball and have saddled multi generational debt for no reason at all, I am not, but it is possible.

Note that DHS also says that Canadians are the biggest threat for visa overstays in the U.S., and one just tried to assassinate the president and law enforcement officials in Texas. Trump should denounce this....

The Times of London probably put it best. "The clearest loser from the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden was America. This was not a debate in any meaningful sense but rather an ill-tempered and at times incomprehensible squabble between two angry septuagenarians who palpably loathe each other". Second place to the Times of India "The US embarrassed itself before the world for 100 minutes."

Here's my round-one scorecard. Trump and Biden both exchanged some heavy blows, and landed some dirty shots too. Trump seemed frustrated throughout the first round. He didn't get to land much cleanly. Biden held his ground well, and was able to get his message across a number of times. Biden 10, Trump 9 (in the ten-point must system...)

Me too. It's almost as bad as the Canadian debates where you have 4 or 5 people all talking over eachotther.

Joe needs all the help he can get. Wow was he unhinged.

I noticed this several times as well. Did Chris Wallace think he was doing an interview, or something? He really blew it, man!

When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled?

Brave Canada sent some tweets, then deleted them and bravely ran away.

I watched for a while, then had to shut it off. Watched cartoons instead.

He was running out of steam in the end - sometimes he could hardly get the whole sentence out - like he's running out of breath. Likely the meds losing its effect. He confused his son Beau with Hunter! He went on and on praising the achievements of his son, until Trump asked him, "which son are you talking about?" he answered, "Beau!" "I'm not talking about Beau!" said Trump. Lol, how can he mistake it for Beau when they're talking about the questionable $3 million? Also the moderator had to remind Biden, "we're talking about taxes." Trump handled himself pretty well, even when they both dumped on his tax issue. He hammered Biden with Law and Order - which really will resonate among voters! 300+ judges plus 3 in the Supreme Court. Trump's legacy has been cemented, win or lose! That's what I like about him first and foremost (because it could impact RvW). He's already delivered what's been on my wish list.....plus more. Lol. What's with Biden and that saccharine talking point aimed at viewers about racism? Running along the lines of...."we're in this together! Together we can fight this!" Lol - it's like the talking point for Covid - such an abused line it's beginning to sound ridiculous! GET REAL! Trump looked like he's really angry at something. Boy, I could almost see wisps of smoke coming out of his ears. To those who are unbiased, overall - Trump came out sort of stubbornly unruly but quite robust (quick too)......and, Biden came out looking frail and weak. Looking at Biden's weakness - to those concerned about the radical left in the Dem Party - Trump's warning to Biden sounds so realistic: "They'll dominate you! They'll overthrow you!" You can easily see Biden being putty among the radical left! That's a powerful imagery Trump had shown which is underscored by all the violence from left-wing protests happening all over the USA. Biden may look like he'd make a wonderful grandfather. But the people aren't looking for a granpa. They want a strong leader in TODAY'S world.

OK, but I abandoned the television view early on because it was a farce, and retired to the garage with NPR radio instead so I could at least get something useful done at the same time (flaring and installing new nickel copper hydraulic brake lines). Both sides will claim victory...and Biden is just happy he did not have a bad senior moment.

The biggest moment was Joe throwing the Squad under the bus.

For discerning viewers like you and me maybe, but my point is that doesn't affect the already high enthusiasm of Trump voters but it would be discouraging for Biden's. I'm thinking that makes Trump the winner.

It was a complete waste of time.

I thought it was fun. Joe came on looking white and sickly. By the end he looked like a bleached ghost.

This debate didn't change anything. Biden did better than I thought he would but from here on it will likely get even tougher on Trump from the moderators.

These things are probably very difficult to spot without getting up close and personal. If Biden delays for a few seconds after being asked a question then questions will be raised.It would simply look like he's waiting to be told what to say .
