Ottawa creating ‘inventory’ of racial minorities to fill senior public service posts. Oh just what we need. The federal government apparently doesn't feel there's enough racism and is looking to create more by encouraging resentment towards racial minorities. Now every time a senior public servant is non-white everyone will simply assume they've got the job solely due to skin colour. Way to go, brainiacs. By the way, the great majority of these 'racialized' candidates will be immigrants. Somehow or other we have to make it up to them for not hiring their parents - who never lived in Canada! Because according to Statistics Canada 68.8% of visible minorities are immigrants and most of the rest (27%) are their kids, who are likely too young for senior positions in government. Of course, the list will also include indigenous Canadians. After all, only 4% of senior positions are held by indigenous Canadians even though they make up 4% of Canada's population. The Liberal government wants to create an “inventory” of Black, Indigenous and other racialized people who could play high-ranking roles in the federal public service. It is looking for an executive search firm to create and maintain the list of candidates from minority groups, as well as people with disabilities, who could be considered for deputy minister and assistant deputy minister positions. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-ottawa-creating-inventory-of-racial-minorities-to-fill-senior-public/#comments2 points

Any position or job should be merit based.2 points

When was the last time a minority person or a person with disabilities served in these roles? I don't know and not going to look it up right now, but if the answer is never, I'd ask if its true that there has never been an individual from these groups who didn't have the requisite skills and experience. This announcement certainly will fire up a certain group of people who think they're hard done by, regardless of facts. On the other hand, it would be a much better world if such appointments happened because people were really judged on their merits, and not have a leg-up because they're white, or be filling some kind of "quota" of not-normally-considered people.1 point

Maybe this news will cheer you up. Coronavirus: Reassuring study of children's 'tiny' risk Aug 28 2020 The children will live on. Let them have their normal lives back as much as possible. They should not have to wear masks. In my opinion, it is better to mandate they are not to wear them at all in schools. Schools should not be saying they encourage it at all, because it makes the fear-stricken parents load the kid up like he is Neil Armstrong about to take one giant leap for mankind.1 point

One good meathead deserves another. But thank you blessed jesus, Ive finally made the list. Dont know why it was over just that, but whatever works. I guess its no fun when you cant come back with more than just these “what if” suppositions if we didnt do something. I cant disprove what didnt happen- thats where youre coming from. Not much I can do with that. Classic Marxist-Leninist propaganda techniques.1 point

You would have to have 500 people in the room before there is a 50% chance that one of them has the virus.1 point

If we'd carried on as usual from March to June, those people's health could have been equally or more at risk because of Covid - hospitals full, people off work sick for weeks or sometimes months, many more deaths. People believe that there is a high risk of getting covid, but don't look at the numbers for themselves. Here they are. Covid cases 5,372, one tenth of one percent of B.C.'s population Deaths 204 one two hundred fiftyth of one percent Hospitalizations 22, one 4 thousand four hundredth of one percent. source http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/data. Is our health care system in danger of being overwhelmed by the 22 people hospitalized, I think not. Is the infection rate low because there are no contacts? Not really, people think that they are socially distancing if the middle seat of an airplane is vacant. They will be sitting 18 inches from another person for 4 to 6 hours breathing the same recirculated air, and feeling safe. Traffic that was a fraction of it's pre covid volume in mid March, now it is the same as ever. People are squeezing oranges, and handling produce that someone else will buy. People a crowding onto rapid transit and jostling each other. There are lots of contacts, but few infections so it seems harder to get covid than we are led to believe. The damage to society and our children's education is very real though.1 point

Are you a teenage girl that cries about everything being the end of the world? I know that you don’t care about the things that enrich the quality of life, so why should I be surprised to discover that you are a misogynist? Here is a thought. Where will a government that is spending billions of dollars fighting covid, while at the same time crippling it’s revenue producers' get the money to operate our hospitals and schools. Won’t the hospitals be overwhelmed if there is no money to pay our care providers? What if you need a hospital and there is no one there?1 point

LMAO. That was so wrong on so many levels it defies description. If you said Pro Golf you may have had a point about "rich men', not necessarily white btw, but people of all colours and classes watch sports MH. Women included.1 point

Once you accept the existence of "systemic racism" you can't win. Anything can be an example of it and any contradiction gets shouted down by the "Whose streets? Our Streets!" minority. For them it's us versus them. But you can't accept that and shout back because if you do you're the bad guy. There's a third side. The wishy washy middle. They can't accept the idea that there is a conflict. Although they're shy to admit it too loud they've bought into the lie of the victimized racial minority. They don't want to be seen as the bad guy so they just say there is no battle and attack anybody noticing that there actually is one as being combative and the cause of the conflict. I think those of us who know there is a conflict need to take our eyes away from the cause for a bit and deal with what think of themselves as moderates. We need to clarify the enemy for them so even they can recognize the obvious conflict with an obvious enemy. And the enemy isn't 'people of colour." It's what call themselves "Progressives" through socialists to the admittedly communists. Or as I like to call them, the 'Prog->comms.' Progcomms invented this 'systemic racism' lie to cause division. We need to clarify the enemy and shout back. Once they realize that we've identified the real enemy and object to the nonsense they are creating they'll back away like they always do. For awhile after FDR, "Progressive" became a slur and they backed away. We need to make it one again. Without the Progs the Comms are no threat. With them they are. The comms create the term 'systemic racism.' When they get the progs to start believing in it, that's when you've got a problem.1 point

No one has been able to demonstrate to me that 'systemic racism' even exists today. Usually when you ask they get angry and give you specific instances where someone allegedly did or said something racist. At best, they mention the Indian Act, but nobody likes the Indian Act and we'd love to get rid of it if we could get the indians to agree.1 point

I myself come from the school of psychology/psychiatry that believes we should leave children physically alone until after their bodies have fully matured and that until then altering their bodies is premature. I am not sure how much of being gay or wanting to be another gender is inherent in the child and how much is projected on to them by adults. Its tricky. Children should feel free not to have to worry about their gender. However we have forced them as soon as they can use a cell phone or t.v. or internet to define their gender which to me is bullshit. We have hyper-sexualized the identity of pre-pubescent children. The innocence of children has been taken away. I have worked with so many abused youth and children. They never heard from me what they "should" be, only what they "can" be if they so choose. All I ever did or said, we make your decisions based on positive ideals, not negative reactions. That is as far as I went. The rest was listening. Children and youth need to know they do NOT have to decide anything and they have a right to simply be what they are as they are without judgement. I have had my share of pedophiles, hebephiles, rapists, sadists. I have seen every kind of evil form of sexual behaviour and its consequences in the legal system. It taught me people who you think are totally destroyed can make it and come back from the unimaginable. It also taught me there are some truly absolutely evil people who will never ever be "cured" and are floating though the legal system repeating their crimes. All most of us can try to be are non judgmental and assure those looking to us for advice that they have the gift to make positive choices all the time and that comes from first believing in themselves which comes from accepting themselves.1 point

What disturbs me is when the medical system or the dominant culture takes the lead in "recommending" biologically intrusive interventions with long lasting consequences in children and teenagers.... Children and teenagers are very easily influenced by cultural factors.... and the culture is broadcasting these forms of medical interventions as the solution to a certain form of unhappiness. Add to this the cultural bias that we as parents are charged with our children's happiness and that if they are unhappy WE have done something wrong... parents are pressured to "solve" the unhappiness.... DO SOMETHING! These interventions fit the bill and the waitlists for them are getting long. We are in bizarre territory.1 point

From what I understand, most cases of gender dysphoria in youths and children wind up going away, or transitioning into them realizing they're gay. In those case I imagine patience is the best solution. This is an individual problem and really no one else's business. BUT... when we read stories of teenage girls being told they must change with male-bodied 'girls' there, even in swimming change rooms, or when we have male-bodied 'women' sent to womens prisons, or competing with women in sports events I think we've passed the limits of societal acceptance and that this sort of thing will only engender resentment if not outright hatred.1 point

1. I guess you are trying to say that playoffs being cancelled to due to boycotts isn't news. Ok. 2. Wealthy Americans, especially white ones just LOVE sports. Your Soviet take on the 'importance' of things is noted, but doesn't figure into the capitalist entertainment industry.0 points
