  1. As to Canada being at war, Canadian Forces are deployed to Iraq and Iran presents a mortal threat to them, so perhaps not war, but certainly in harms way. The IRGC Quds Force is a formidable opponent, neither America nor her military allies can afford not to contain them while in theater. If you are want to go over the trace on your Iranian passport, that is your prerogative, but you're on your own there when you do, good luck to you. There is risk inherent to all military operations, the Quds Force is a clear and present threat throughout the theater at all times, deterrence must be maintained Those traveling into this war zone need be advised, operations are ongoing, immediate actions may occur without notice, you are not assured safe passage. General Soleimani was an adversary conducting unlawful hostilities against Canadian Forces, at the strategic level, America their only protector. I do not begrudge America's stalwart defense against the IRGC, I thank her for her service.

  2. Hijabs and buraqas are not Canadian outfits. They are traditional outfits from the middle east worn defiantly by people proclaiming they are different and have no intention of adapting.

  3. 1 Insults betray a lack of valid, intelligent response. 2 Show us the data for "Let's just say it certainly appears there would be far less violent crime and shootings in my city if there were no Muslims here." Sounds like just more of your white supremacist racist lies and smears to me. 3 Insults again betray a lack of valid, intelligent response.

  5. 6. The average American soldier knows who this guy is, with all the military grade tech and supplies he has been bringing into Iraq and Afghanistan, they know...like detailed plans and supplies on how to make copper lined shaped charges, that blew holes in both sides of thick armored plating and suck everything out of the veh from the other side... A regular humanitarian he was.

  7. Not actually true. Refugees have sued for their Charter Rights and the judiciary have consistently ruled in their favour. The criteria which the government uses to screen is entirely subject to the Charter.

  8. It bothers anyone sensible who cares about the future of this country and does not want to grow an intractable, hostile foreign ethnic/religious group here that will not integrate and rejects our beliefs and values. That is what happened in many European countries and they are just starting to pay the price for it now. Of course, those who hate Canada, ie, progressives, love the thought of destroying what's left of its traditions and values and flooding it with foreign values and cultures.

  9. The charter or rights does not protect foreigners not in Canada from discrimination by the Canadian government. We are perfectly free to screen applicants for immigration, to interview them, to determine how adaptable they are as well as how firmly they believe in social values and customs which run entirely contrary to ours. And if they are firm in their belief that women are worth one quarter the value of a man, that they must cover their faces/hair, and never touch an unrelated male, then we're perfectly free to say "No thank you."

  10. C'mon, they didn't even miss the deadline for giving them money. Just because money was approved, doesn't mean it needed to be released that day.

  13. Brits will make up all sorts of nonsense to malign an American marrying into the Royal Family. It's not a race thing, it's an Anti-American thing. If she was born in Alabama and was 100% white, they would say she's a redneck with KKK connections, or some such silliness.

  14. You are bringing such perspective here as to threaten to ruin the fun for the many people who think that complaining about individuals from groups that they don't like constitutes political discussion.

  20. I can understand the arguments made for constitutional monarchy against republic but I just can't understand why should anyone be remotely interested in the lives of the royals. I must be in the minority with my view because if nobody was interested in them the tabloids wouldn't go to the lengths as they do to make stories about the royals.

  21. Really old news, too, from 2015. This particular discussion has already happened on MLW. But it's amusing to watch Canadian bigots complain about bigotry among some other group.

  22. I don't have any evidence that it is was an intentional shoot down, and as a military man, I would say these sorts of incidents are rather common, in war zones. Moreover, with the sort of air defenses the Iranians deploy, which is point defense rather than an integrated system, it's quite easy for them to make these sorts of mistakes. In terms of protocol, there is no protocol in Iran, if you want protocol, it's best to remain inside the North Atlantic Security Zone where the air policing is run by NATO. Again, Tehran is an inherently dangerous place, 176 people killed ? The regime just shot over 1500 innocent protestors to death in November. They kidnap and torture people with abandon, they slaughter people indiscriminately by terrorist attack, they hang people from cranes in public executions. It certainly is tragic, misadventure generally is, but you are not protected by Canada nor America when you travel to Iran You are choosing to enter an active war zone, and it has been active for some time, so claiming that you were not aware is not credible. Iran is inciting a war against Israel, from Iranian territory, all the way across Iraq and the Levant to south Lebanon. This is why the IRGC calls its elite formation the Quds Force. "Quds" is the Arabic name of Jerusalem. It's the 'Jerusalem Force', because Jerusalem is their target objective. So this war zone is across that entire area, if you're concerned about being caught in the crossfire, stay away. I don't know whose relatives in Iran are telling them to come and visit, but if it was me, I would have told them to stay home, because Iran is very dangerous. This is not to say that these people deserved their fate, but they were none the less responsible for it, as going back and forth from Tehran is high risk.

  23. The Canadian media is in overdrive trying to convince me that this was like a bunch of Quebecois being shot down by America over New Brunswick Reality check, Iranians who are dual citizens travel back to Iran at their own risk.

  24. Trump has already shamed the NATO deadbeats like Canada into increasing defence spending....Canada will scream and bitch about it...but you have to pay to play. Trudeau and SNC Lavalin really want to keep those big fat juicy oil services contracts in Iraq.

  25. Did you even look at the link? Canada wide "wanted" is mostly "white" faces/names for sexual offenses and murder. Ottawa, according to Argus, is mostly not. (Alberta, for anyone who cares, has a lot of indigenuous on their list). But for some reason that only Argus knows, Ottawa stats "prove" that a certain subset of society is more prone to criminal behavior. If you rely on certain media for your news, thats undoubtedly true. If you dig deeper, you'll find stories of non-Pakistani gangs running child sex rings and child porn rings all around the world. Even in Canada. Never mind all the Western and European "sex tourists" who travel to countries where they can find children in brothels, or all the "white" guys featured on creep catcher's videos. Nope, not gonna do the work of finding stories featuring white guys for you. Your pattern of rejecting any evidence that contradicts your racist and Islamophobic views is too well established. Sexual exploitation of children is an horrific crime, regardless of who is doing it. Trying to prove a group of people of whom you personally disaprove is "worse" than your own group is just run-of-the-mill racism.

  26. edited Let's get real. The point of this thread is a shmuck is a shmuck unless of course he/she is a refugee shmuck then it means we can use that shmuckiness to make negative assumptions about the entire refugee determination system and other refugees. I can see deficiencies in how refugees are defined and/or processed. Yes I get it. The refugee system should screen out terrorists, criminals, human rights violators, false claimants I get that...but do you want to tell me how the subjective shmuck qualities of the people you mentioned create characteristics that can be screened out? If so how? NO ONE HAS. If all anyone has are subjective anecdotes of a few shmucks acting like shmucks , what do you want me to say? How does that establish a basis to shut down or LIMIT the entire system because of these shmucks? Please explain. Does anyone have anything to offer other than to point out negative qualities about specific refugees and then automatically conclude it means other refugees neeed to be limited?

  27. You can point to what ever policy you want, It does not mean that the moral high ground is following north Korea , and the terrorist state of Palestine, the majority of the west is following a different path..

  28. Why? You're the one who can't seem to follow the discussion. Well, we were only talking about us not selling them fossil fuels but the only impact we could have on their emissions would be to purchase less stuff from them. We should be doing that anyway on humanitarian grounds, never mind climate change.
