https://nationalpost.com/opinion/rex-murphy-apparently-world-savers-dont-need-to-worry-about-the-little-people#comments-area Rex Murphy wrote an article (linked above) vilifying Elizabeth May as a 21st century Stalinist/prohibitionist. IMV, he entirely missed the point. ==== Green voters view themselves as people (circa 1960) opposed to smoking/littering. Everyone now knows that smoking cigarettes causes cancer. Littering is now frowned, it faces serious fines - and few people do it. IOW, in the mind of Green voters, their progressive ideas were successful. Fewer people now smoke cigarettes and fewer people litter. Greens wish to limit CO2 emissions in the same way that we now have fewer people smoking cigarettes and arguably less litter.2 points

Climate cultists have lost their freakin' minds - there's no way I'm giving up meat... Had a great T-bone tonite..1 point

IMO the Green Party is just an illegitimate joke of a political party as long as they have E May at the helm. If it came down to her or Trudeau for PM again I'd vote for Trudeau in a heartbeat and Trudeau has already proven himself to be an utter failure at every level. He's getting about 25% on every test, but that's still better than straight zeros. May aside, the Greens seem to completely lack the foresight necessary for a major political party. Their naive, kindergarten-esque world view is the epitome of what you don't want in leadership.1 point

Yeah, well Michael Moore says alternative energy solutions like wind, solar, and electric vehicles is a complete sham that's been perpetrated on weak minds for profit, so I guess it's apparently back to the drawing board. Only took him 15 years to figure out what some of us have known pretty much all along. At least he figured it out...some unfortunate individuals are still convinced it's our salvation.1 point

Well, they don't care as much when school children and bystanders are killed every day as well. "Mass shootings" scream for attention like airliner crashes, and news media are more than happy to oblige. I think New Zealand recognized this linkage and refused to give the shooter his 15 minutes of fame as best they could. More guns are owned per capita in the U.S., but gun homicide rates are at 30 year lows...news media won't report that much, but the NRA will.1 point

Agreed, but the mass shootings are tragic when they involve school children and/or random people at a county fair. No one gives a crap when they involve mafiosos, Bloods, Cripps, Hell's Angels, Rock Machine, Bandidos, MS-13 etc.1 point

What a crock of shit. I've watched dozens of videos of "police abuse" and the one thing that they always have in common is aggressive morons who are disrespectful to the police. Anyone who has the attitude that "cops are just racist bullies with no right to ask me any questions, and I'm going to let them know about it" is just an incident waiting to happen. Police have tough jobs, mostly because of people like you GH. You're a huge part of the problem and the biggest obstacle to the solution.1 point

We are a diverse group of greedy bastards, and you expect us to get together and cooperate? And quickly as well? Let's be realistic for a moment... that is just not going to happen. Call me a prophet but I say there is no way at all that we are going to pull this off and reach any sort of targets. No sir. The opposite will happen. We are all going up, up up.1 point

It's nice to see you're not a completely incorrigible monster after all! But you are wrong once again, BubberMiley. No one here is saying we want to be irresponsible. We need to do something, but not just anything. People cannot be persuaded to give up their wealth and happiness to accomplish nothing. Some of these proposals do that, accomplish nothing. Yet the do benefit certain groups over others, in terms of where the money goes. I say that is a threat to achieving the goal of addressing climate change as well. Climate change scammers.1 point

And they could. What is the purpose or logic behind mass shootings... many factors are behind it. It is typically a reaction to something, done because of something. Question is, what. There are different motivations in different instances, so there is not a single purpose or logic. Safe to say malevolence is deeply ingrained in our human nature. It cannot be completely eliminated, nor understood.1 point

Climate change is being used to manipulate people for fun and profit. If you can make a case that your business is essential for dealing with climate change, it's practically a guaranteed win.1 point

They just nibble at the edges of C02 emissions. They do whatever they can to avoid having to address the China/India issue.1 point

Something tells me that if Twitter mostly only censored left leaning individuals, while giving right leaning individuals a pass for the same behavior, you would not tell lefties complaining about it to get over it already.1 point

Indeed, blaming the inanimate object makes no sense. If some people who own Honda Civics start running over crowds of people, banning Honda Civics won't solve the problem.1 point

The evil of statistics. There are too many contributing factors, to look at it from one perspective alone.1 point

Let's hope that the progressive SJW's do not try to stop Chick from opening up in Canada. Chick can be seen as being a Trump supporting outlet and that is a no-no in America and in Canada today. Why some Canadians go bonkers over what Trump says and does is beyond me but yet comrade Trudeau gets a pass with them? Canadians??????1 point

From that article: So the top 5 countries in the world in gun ownership are in the top 15 in mass shooters per capita.... Top 5 are in the top 15.... So there are ten countries in the top 15 that aren't in the top 5. Where do they rank? TBH, at the root of this, is the acknowledgement that something bad is happening. Shootings, and mass shootings. For those who think that getting rid of all guns is the answer, look how many people a terrorist can kill with a rental van. Think of how many people are killed with knives and other things. How long will it take to end the problem of criminals with guns? Criminals will still have guns long after all the law-abiding citizens ditch them. Think of whether or not people's homes will be less safe in general when it becomes widely known that no one has guns anymore. Would you like to live in the country, 30 minutes from law enforcement, and be forbidden to have a gun, while knowing that plenty of gang bangers own them?1 point

Right ... you aren't one for supporting your arguments, I momentarily forgot. Basically not worth paying attention to.1 point

I did the research, I already know the answer, I just don't care enough to re-look it up right now, especially when you will just claim that more guns is the bigger factor, no matter what evidence is presented.1 point

I think you misconstrued my post. I personally don't care about what religious inclinations a restaurant has. I'm more concerned with value and the quality of food.1 point
