On the contrary. This discussion is about whether such a thing as Islamophobia even exists.2 points

What are you talking about? We had a neighbor who harassed his non-white neighbors, and made death threats. He was charged, and was given a restraining order, which meant he had to move. This really has nothing to do with you. Geez.2 points

You are still trying to incite and wilfully promote hatred against an identifiable group in Canada.2 points

You misunderstand. If you earn little, you pay nothing. Also, if you earn more, but you have family deductions, like children, say, or unmarried spouse, or other expenses, you pay nothing. That means others must pay much more in order to provide you with the services you and your family require but which you don't pay for. I am not saying someone earning over $70k pays 90% of his income, I'm saying the population which earns more than $70k are almost entirely responsible for funding this government. Those who earn less largely get a free ride. For example, this Wall Street Journal report shows the top 25% of income earners in the US pay 84% of income taxes. This article is from 2013. We know that income taxes on 'the rich' have increased multiple times since then, so the figures here will actually be low. They say: this progressivity can help us understand why the top 1% of income earners paid a staggering 21.2% of the total federal and provincial taxes in 2010. The top 10% paid 54.8% of all taxes while the bottom 50% of Canadian income earners contributed 4% towards the collective personal tax bill. So four years ago, the lower 50% of income earners only paid 4% of income taxes. I'd wager it's down to 2 or 3% by now, and the amount paid by higher wage earners, of course, has risen. I wager you would have to search long and hard among that lower tier of Canadians to find anyone grateful to higher income earners for paying for all their health care, education and other services, though.1 point

I'm not pretending it didn't happen. Found guilty of well founded mischief laws that have been around for a very very long time. Not found guilty for violation of the non-existent M103. It is you that is pretending. Not I.1 point

So using a Jewish voice in text to talk is anti-semetic? What lengths WONT you go to accuse someone of anti-semitism. Hmm, maybe the voice of Sarah Silverman would be more appropriate for your posts.1 point

I guess my issue with this Islamophobia study/motion is that if you're going to go out looking for Islamophobia in Canada, you're going to find it. We alreay know that. The same as if you go out looking for prejudice against Natives, you're going to find it. The same as if you're going to go looking for anti-Semitism, you're going to find it. The same as if you are going to go looking for prejudice against blacks, you're going to find it. We already know there are Islamophobes in Canada. We already know there's prejudice and discrimination against all these groups, which is why we have hate crime laws. So what is the "study" going to show? That there's Islamophobia in Canada? Great. My concern is what is the solution to all these phobias and prejudices? Of course Muslims don't want anyone pointing out the backwardness of their religion. I get that. So do we want a law saying no one can discuss the problems in Islam? Trudeau came out today in his UN speech about Natives in Canada and said this: I doubt the study will make any kind of recommendations FOR MUSLIMS to rethink how they "represent and organize themselves". Obviously there will be recommendations on how Canada approaches Muslims, but will there be any recommendations on how Muslims approach Canada? My fear is that it will do nothing but absolve Muslims of any repsonsibility they have to integrate with Canadians. It will not address "Infidelophobia", which I see as contributing factor to Islamophobia.1 point

This is merely someone's opinion. Facts provided by the police and news media tell us that Islamophobia is real and it has resulted in people dying.1 point

The title and the original post say the discussion is about Islamaphobia in Canada. Neither raise the question of whether it exists; 19 wounded and 6 dead Muslims demonstrate that it does, never mind the fact that reported hate crimes against Muslims has risen over 250% in 4 years.1 point

Now back to Islamophobia. Robert Fulford has a column today on the subject. Every era has special words that ignite resentful arguments and reveal difficult emotions. There’s no doubt that Islamophobia is our word, a painful term that’s hard to avoid. It functions as a rhetorical weapon. Whoever uses it (and many do) is trying to convict someone else of chauvinism and a thoughtless prejudice against Muslims and Islam. It’s a protective word, a shield against Muslims being damaged by criticism and argument. http://nationalpost.com/opinion/robert-fulford-a-history-of-islamophobia-a-word-of-dubious-value1 point

I was referring to the fact that she keeps popping up here to use the motion to accuse people here of violating the law by inciting hatred against Muslims by engaging in this conversation. While at the same time saying that Muslims should not be allowed to question their own religious beliefs because if they joined a religion that limits their free speech, it's their own tough luck. Which is why I asked her why she's not reporting this conversation to the RCMP if she feels this conversation is a violation of the law, due to the motion.1 point

You are a coward and a compulsive liar rue.... You specifically said I hate all saudis and your proof means jack shit...It's like saying zionism is a racist movement doesn't mean I hate jews you shmuck! Hating wahabism and the despicable regime in the SA is different from hating all saudi you muppet. Seriously how much more idiotic can you get....There really is no hope for you.1 point

But there's that "Merry Christmas" thing Dialamah pointed out... People (I'm not calling them 'snowflakes') get offended by that. People get mad at a MOTION condemning oppression of an identifiable group. These same people somehow think that Sharia law is going to be swept in.1 point

Good tune. Ohhhh ... Aaaaaaarrrrrrrguuusss ... You are the complainingest person around here. Sing it to your mirror. Funny you didn't mention the people entitled to complain: 6 Muslims shot dead by a white fanatic in Montreal ... for being Muslims. And a protester against fascists mowed down dead by a wannabe Nazi. Get over it?1 point

Of course the irony here is that Jacee is doing exactly what many have said - the motion will be used by idiots to stifle any discussion about Islam.1 point

Omigod. Could you be any more obtuse?! Ya I'm a 250 year old orange troll. The motion, known as M-103, became a matter of acrimonious debate, with opponents painting it as a slippery slope towards limiting freedom of speech and even bringing in Sharia law So ... How's it working so far? Is your freedom of speech somehow limited, beyond the current criminal laws? Is Sharia law affecting you personally somehow? Eg, Are you divorcing a Muslim woman?1 point

I don't know how other MPs handle their finances but that's not the point. The PM is calling small businesses tax cheats while at the same time enjoying loopholes for the rich, therefore avoiding taxes he wants other people to pay, many with lesser income. It's about Trudeau and Morneau standing behind their privileges while trying to remove them from others as PM Trudeau receives dividend payments from a private corporation as part of his family fortune, yet, it turns out that Trudeau has admitted he will not be impacted by the tax hikes he’s bringing in. So, it seems his corporations and others among his 1 %er friends, are exempt from the increases he’s imposing on others. It's about hypocrisy and not being the open transparent gov't he promised, and, some big fish are allready moving their money out of Canada. Meanwhile, back at the trough, Top Trudeau aides Butts, and Telford managed to expense over $200,000 for moving homes - what was that again about the Senate !1 point
