Fermi himself didn't understand it.

He understood it just fine

The term wasn't even coined until he was dead for 40 years.

But he had already asked the question. It is the question we are talking about not the term

I either case both are now up against the reality of the Great Silence and whatever Great Filter might account for that silence.

Neither are up against the reality of anything. The question of "where is everybody" was a response to, not something being challenged by, the fact we haven't seen anyone else yet.  And there are MANY equally accepted possible solutions.

You were probably supposed to delete that before pasting from whatever website you found it on when you realized you were wrong and looking stupid again :)

You very clearly have no idea about this issue other than what you read in the 10 seconds you scanned your google search results.

Nope.  Not that kind.

Yes you did.

The last time you provided a link to that site I pointed out after going through everything there that there wasn't a single thing that supported your argument.

Everything there equals 1.7 petabytes.

No it isn't, it's about the Great Silence and Filter. Please try to keep up. You're not really stupid you're just really stubborn.

One of which is already firmly in our grasp, thermonuclear war, and we're pressing the pedal to the metal on another, climate change.

No, I should've highlighted them for you.

It's where I go to follow up on articles and news about astronomy that I've been interested in since I owned a telescope when I was like 13 or something.

I have no idea how much you don't know about anything, it's probably beyond the observable universe.

Yup. That kind.

SETI researchers can and do use data from the Owens Valley Long Wavelength Array (OVRO-LWA). While it is not a dedicated SETI instrument like the Allen Telescope Array, its unique capabilities make it a powerful tool for searching for "technosignatures" (signs of alien technology

Unlike traditional telescopes that look at one spot, the OVRO-LWA can image the entire visible sky simultaneously. This allows SETI researchers to look for transient or "bursty" signals that might be missed by narrow-field telescopes.

No you made that claim because you knew that you were wrong and couldn't argue with what I said so as is your standard practice you made up something I didn't say and then argued with that.

And we know you're lying because if you weren't you'd be able to produce that document and say here you go it exists. Hahaha

But you can't. Because it doesn't. Because you're lying

Climate change is not a crisis. It's mildly serious but you don't take it seriously, there's no evidence for it being an urgent or crisis situation, and there's no serious research as to show that anything we could do would actually make a substantial difference

Complete hoax

That sounds like what AI is for

But what you seem to be saying is that in all of that data there isn't a single thing you can point to that makes your case

That pretty much proves you're wrong

No it isn't and this is starting to get sad.

IT's literally

"Where is everybody?" Given the universe's age and billions of stars, it suggests intelligent life should be common, yet we have found no contact.

That is precisely what for me asked and what he proposed. He never mentioned any great filter when he put the question out there and people began to work on it. Nor is it a primary component in today's thinking of it, the idea of there being a filter is definitely something that is one of the possible solutions but there are millions of others including we were wrong in our calculations and we are the only intelligent life. Or we are one of the first to make it to this level of technology and everyone else simply hasn't evolved that far. And even that Interstellar travel is impossible or undesirable for that they have visited us, took one look and decided they never ever wanted to talk to us and have taken steps to make sure we don't realize they exist

The idea of there being a great filter is a teeny tiny part of a huge body of answers

You obviously are Googling this on the fly and have never ever actually heard the term or looked into it prior.

You had any idea what you sound like to somebody who actually has it would shrivel up and die of embarrassment. Well, if lefties had such a thing as embarrassment anyway

The Great Silence scientists are literally calling it.

That's right, it was another concept that came decades after he died.

Nobody claims climate science was a lie. We can't, you haven't shown us any.

But we're claiming is that there is no scientific studies that demonstrate the climate change isn't a crisis more than anything we can do will have a meaningful impact.

And you know that's true. Which is why you had to pretend we were arguing something different

Whenever you're backed into a corner, your default is to lie

I have no idea what that's supposed to say....  do you?

Anyway, keep on doing what you do and don't worry about the climate.  It will correct itself regardless of what we throw at it.

I have no reason to worry.

You probably don't.  If you choose do nothing about it, just leave it for future generations to deal with.  Easier that way.

Who said I wanted to do nothing? I said I am not worried.

I support reasonable mitigation and adaptation.

Says the guy who's just fine with Carney's hundred billion dollar deficits.

At least we can prove the deficits are real

One of the more well known climate/population alarmists died, Paul Ehrlich. He made some bold predictions, none of which came true when he said they would.

Meanwhile, this clown is still alive:

David Suzuki is turning 90. Environmentalists may have 'lost, big time,' but he still has hope

He failed in his life goal to destroy Canada's economy due to "evil sky fairies", but hey, Carney will take up the mantle and keep the bad fight going until everyone in Canada is unemployed.

As Democrat and Liberal governments fall, Republicans and Conservatives come to the rescue.
