When he was campaigning in 2024, Trump said he would defeat inflation and make America affordable again.

Now, he says of affordability, “It doesn’t mean anything to anybody…The word affordability is a con job by the Democrats.”

The only con is him. His administration is locking up the economic data while he builds a shiny new ballroom – not a winning message.

His decadence and indifference to the plight of the American people will spell his doom. “It’s the economy, stupid.”

The video at the link below is a good example of his cluelessness.

Too soon to call it.Economic data is inconclusive . The top 20 percent of the top earner is keeping everything afloat right now.

True. At this point it's a mixed bag. Inflation pressure is up is it feds can't reduce interest. But the job market is strong and investment is coming back into the economy in decent amounts and GDP growth is strong.

it's going to take a little longer to see if the arrow straightens out and flies true, or if he was wrong,

The challenge is that midterms are coming up and people are indeed grumbling about affordability already

He's going to have to deliver more than just some dead drug dealers to keep the public happy, so we'll see

Im not installing Instagram just to watch whiney trash. I seem to remember Trump saying the economy would take time to turn. And it is turning. Enough now that it's beginning to show. This scares the b'jeebers out of the Libbies.

On its current trajectory, the US economy will be in great shape the summer before the mid-terms. All you'll have left will be to scold the electorate for voting for prosperity.

Good luck with that...

This is a 2 day old talking point circling the left wing.

Try giving us the whole quote from his speech in context.

He goes on to talk about what his administration has been doing to make things more affordable.

His point was that to Democrats the word didn’t mean anything, it was their con job to sit here talking about it now.

I have some funds that are up over 24% this year. The economy is fine.

What is happening is the restoration of jobs numbers that the Biden admin faked. It looks like Trump lost jobs because they restored the true numbers, which were far less than the fake numbers that Biden put forth.

Gas is down

Cost of eggs are down

Cost of housing is down

Cost of cars is down

All the tariffs had zero effect on price to consumer and the government has billions more in tax revenue than anticipated

Less than 1 year in, and the trash that Biden produced is getting cleaned up.

If it wasn't the American consumer, exactly who was it then that paid America this revenue?

Prices did not increase so they did not pass it on. The importers ate the cost because the market would not allow for a price increase.

What is hilarious here is that people like you demanded that we make the rich pay more in taxes and this effectively did that and y'all are still bìtching.

The rich ate every penny instead of increasing everyone's prices? What's there to bitçh about again?

So the rich have always been able to afford to pay their fair share after all. I knew it! I knew it all along.

They don't mind paying tariffs but just don't call it a tax or there's hell to pay.  Weird but whatever.

You do not even have a basic understanding of how pricing works.

Well why don't you explain it in terms of the rich paying Trump billions more in taxes...sorry I mean tariffs. Especially in light of Trump's talk of tariff dividends for taxpayers or even this brain fart he tooted or tweeted about the other day.

Trump has said tariff revenue may allow Americans to stop paying income taxes. PBS says the math doesn’t add up

I imagine that since you've actually climbed inside Trump's ass, it's created a real echo chamber.

A. Despite firing the labor statistics chief and appointing someone new--and asking them to stop reporting monthly numbers--the methodology is currently unchanged. He's explicitly trying to cook the books, but hasn't yet succeeded, so the jobs numbers are apples to apples.

B. The economy is not the stock market.

C. The idea that an economy that literally cannot bear price increases is somehow healthy is insane.

D. Yes, prices absolutely have gone up as a result of the tariffs. Categories exposed to import sourcing are climbing rapidly. You're saying insane shit here, and your Chinese manufactured crazy pills are gonna get more expensive.

Tax Foundation

"To assess the impacts of the tariffs on retail prices of both domestic and imported goods, a team of Harvard economists has been tracking retail prices using real-time barcode data. The latest data through early October show that tariffs have raised retail prices on average by about 4.9 percentage points relative to the pre-tariff trend, 6.0 percentage points for imported goods and 4.3 percentage points for domestic goods. Several goods have experienced notably large price increases, including apparel (8.99 percentage points), coffee and tea (7.5 percentage points), cameras (7.5 percentage points), household textiles (6.2 percentage points), and furniture (6.5 percentage points)."

E. Trump tariffs actually *reversed* falling price trends from 2024

F. Car prices are absolutely NOT down. They've also reduced a post-COVID falling trend to spike back up under Trump. FED CPI data

F. Trump has as much control over the price of eggs and gas as Biden did, which is to say virtually none. Did he cure avian flu? Did he subsidize egg farmers? Did he somehow isolate US gas and oil from the global market? No? Then what's he doing to inspire all your fawning?

You ought to poke your head out from time to time and ingest some real news.

Your usual lies I see.

What you did is take a blown  up view with only a few months before trump took over and you FAKE making it look like trump was reversing a trend.

Here's an ACTUAL graph of the CPI.

TRUMP ISN"T REVERSING ANYTHING YOU LYING SACK OF CRAP.

Trump is still vastly lower than biden, you took the last 'dip' just before he took over and tried to PRETEND that was a 'trend'.

You do this every single time you present numbers, then you run away crying when people show you the truth and come back with the same lies the next week.

You're truly a pathetic sack of crap.  Can't you be honest for FIVE minutes?

Every accusation is really an admission with you people:

Fox Business:

"From March 2024 to March 2025—a period mostly covering the final year of the Biden administration — BLS overestimated job numbers by 911,000. In other words, for that period, the nation added a stunning 911,000 fewer jobs than were originally reported, the largest such error on record.

But it's a lot worse than that. Over the last three years, the BLS has overcounted nearly 3 million jobs that didn't exist.

These aren't random errors when every revision skews in the same direction."

So who's ass is your head up?

No. The stock market is an indicator of the economy. Do you know what an indicator is?

Oh, ffs. Here: https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/033115/how-does-law-supply-and-demand-affect-prices.asp

That will explain that pricing is based on supply and demand.

According to you a healthy economy can absorb higher prices. Does that mean you think higher prices means the economy is healthy? Your consistency is nonexistent here. CDN disproved the rest of your b.s. I am done with you.

Ok, have it your way...

Going back to June, three months after Trump's April 2 “Liberation Day” tariff bombshell, most of the tariff cost, 64%, was being borne by U.S. importers. Only 14% of the cost was being eaten by foreign exporters in the form of lower prices, and 22% was being passed on to U.S. consumers in the form of higher prices.

This suggests 64% of the imports Americans consume were always overpriced and Americans were being gouged by other Americans.

This will be good news to exporters who can look forward to raising their prices once this is over.

Consumers can take advantage of the law of supply and demand to make purchases at lower prices if they become aware of events that could affect either supply or demand.

Sure, but this is a lot harder when the event is a crazy móron bent on stupidly driving the cost of everything up because his last brain fart said so.
