We don't but we still have some of the same issues with the riding system. It just scales it up.

Same as an electoral college, whomever gets the most votes in a riding wins the riding and the other votes mean nothing. 

And we don't get to vote for the prime minister, the party who wins gets to choose who the prime minister is.

And our gov't has the ability to call an election whenever it feels like and often uses that to it's advantage to improve it's chances to stay in power. 

The last two elections where trudeau ran the conservatives actually got more votes and won the popular vote handily, but the liberals formed gov't. 

Truth be told i like our system more than yours and feel it's more functional. It's also harder for the prime minister to run amok.  (harder, not impossible).   But lets not pretend it's perfect.

It's actually doing better than expected so far.  3 percent growth would be about 'normal' or pretty good, nothing fantastic but strong. 3.8 is pretty solid.

The U.S. economy showed strong growth in the second quarter of 2025, expanding at a faster-than-expected 3.8% annual rate. This rebound followed a contraction in the first quarter and was driven primarily by a decrease in imports and an increase in consumer spending. The final estimate from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) was a significant upgrade from its previous 3.3% estimate. 

Q3 may be a little screwed up because of the gov't shut down especially if it drags on but if he keeps his head above 2.9 and has a decent 4th quarter he's going to be able to claim victory for his policies. 

The job market is softening a little but that's probably short term.  And it's still not bad. 

Too soon to reach a final conclusion but right now it's looking pretty decent for him.  Sorry
