More than 120,000 mail-in ballots uncounted in federal election

120000 our of 1.3 odd million, so just under 10% were not counted..........

Elections Canada says over 120,000 mail-in ballots from the April 28 general election were never counted, raising new questions about voting irregularities and transparency.

The agency said 1,321,449 mail-in ballots were issued but only 1,200,808 were tallied. It did not explain whether the 120,641 missing ballots were unused or returned too late.

Blacklock's Reporter says the disclosure follows earlier apologies for uncounted ballots left at a returning office in Coquitlam, B.C. and mislabeling of ballots in Terrebonne, Que., where Liberals won an unexpected seat by a single vote.

Bloc MPs say they want answers.

“We are demanding transparency from Elections Canada,” said MP Sébastien Lemire (Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Que.).

House affairs committee members have summoned Chief Electoral Officer Stéphane Perrault to testify.

Perrault has previously admitted “unfortunate” irregularities in the 2021 election, when 123,000 ballots were mailed too late for voters to return them by deadline and another 90,000 were disqualified as late returns.

Concerns are also being raised about low turnout in ridings like Abitibi-Baie James-Nunavik-Eeyou, where only 47.6% of voters cast ballots amid complaints of unexplained poll closures.

The House affairs committee earlier rejected a proposal to allow Canadians to vote by phone. The 2021 report, backed by Liberal MPs, argued for exploring smartphone voting. Bloc MPs opposed it, warning of voter fraud risks and difficulties verifying identity.

The 'accidentally' closed polls and the mystery mail in ballots vanising all just happen to favour the libs because of the ridings where it happened.

The problem is even if this has absolutely nothing to do with election interference it now has that appearance instech about it

It is always been said that mail-in voting would be the easiest to exploit.

The title of the article is manipulative:

"The agency said 1,321,449 mail-in ballots were issued but only 1,200,808 were tallied. It did not explain whether the 120,641 missing ballots were unused or returned too late."

Did the voters not mail back the ballots?  Arrived too late?  Returned by not counted by Elections Canada?  More details needed here.

I.O.W. over 91% of mail in ballots were returned in time and were counted. Roughly 9% of people did not vote with their mail in ballot, sent it in too late or the bogeyman ate the ballots.

Ooooooh! How scandalous !

Well it's a shame they refuse to answer that question. Presumably they would know and decided not to volunteer that information. And as you can see from the article that might just be the tip of the iceberg

One of the things that makes canadian democracy resilient is that our systems are set up so that it is very very difficult to manipulate them. Therefore people trust that the results are substantially accurate, and any fraud or error wouldn't change the outcome.

Things like this completely erode that. Considering how many ridings were one or lost by a couple hundred votes it totally delegitimatizes the process and opens the door to valid arguments that the results were wrong.

This kind of crap cannot happen.

I agree they should answer where the ballots went, and if they were sent in etc

OMG!!!

Some people didn't use their mail-in ballots! Some people sent them in too late! This has gotta' be a conspiracy!!

But wait!!!  The Canadian Press April 29, 2025
Elections Canada says more than 68 per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot in the federal election!!

My God people - 32% of Canadians didn't vote!!! What kind of underhanded shenanigans are going on here? We can't let the Leftards get away with this!!! The only thing to do is join the US! Praise Donald. Praise Bigly Brother!

How so?  You have to return the ballot to exploit or interfere.   When I lived in Florida many years ago for university I signed up for a mail-in ballot and I received it. But I didn’t bother to mail it back.

Shocking.... not everyone sent in their mail-in ballots.  Absolutely shocking.....

Probably a good thing.  The Con's would likely have got 39% of the vote if they had.  40% sounds better for your moral victory.

But we do know that many of them did and they weren't counted. So right in the article in fact based on what they said it sounds like most sentiment and they weren't counted

So on top of everything else you're standing up in favor of election fraud or interference are you? Why am I shocked.

Yes to the left wing any voter suppression that might favor them is a good thing 🙄🙄🙄

Well at least you're not pretending anymore

awwww did you hear something you didn't like and realize you said something stupid, and now you've got to try to change the channel because you can't ACTUALLY bury your head in the sand on the internet ?  LOLOL

you're a bigger joke every day kid :)

I think we all know who they'd rather have in, but you dance with the one you're with. Poilievre isn't here right now and while they might wish it was the case that he was here or hope that he is in the future at the moment they have to deal with Carney.

Conservatives aren't as filled with hatred and bigotry as you are. They're prepared to work with anybody if they have to do to make Canada a better place. I see where this may have confused you, it's not really your style of thinking

Working with someone that you have to at the moment is not moving on from anything it's just accepting that in order to do your job you have to work with someone distasteful

And what's with this DF stuff? I'm sorry I don't speak juvenile you spend far more time than I do on Elementary School Playgrounds so I may not be up with you and lingo. Could you rephrase it in something that an adult would understand?

Ummm.... trump actually didn't lose the next election, he won.  :)

And this really did happen, it's not the conservatives who are claiming it, this is coming from elections canada.

But typical of you that you want to blame mistakes made by elections canada on.......... donald trump :)  LOLOLOL

Real adults have jobs, families, friends, and go outside sometimes.  You wouldn't know anything about that though.

awww muffin :)  still butthurt from the last time and hoping to jump in and try to score a point somehow? You know this always ends with you looking stupid.

We've been over this a million times. I heck often enough when I'm posting I am outside. It takes me a few seconds to fire a reply off to someone like you, you just don't take that much time.

Whereas you spend almost all your time on here replying to me, but it takes a lot longer because you type with two fingers and think with one brain cell  😆😆😆

Oh and I bet I need more money than you, Based on income statistics :)

So I get more done, I have more leisure time, I still make more than you, I'm still outside as much as you and have friends and yet I still manage to post here more than you.

It must hurt to be so inferior

what that you're butthurt and you claim you debate regularly with children?

Yeah. We know.  Honestly there's not much else to you. It's not like you can make a reasoned argument or point or anything.

With the exception of you, I don't debate children.

All you had to do was read my original comment in this thread for the 'point'.  Not complicated was it....
