No, they manufacture a lot because they have infinite cheap highly repressed labor and 76 years of intense government projects to build up industries.

It's not that simple.

Part of it is as you suggest the fact that they have 76 years of experience, not government projects but the reality is is they have been developing this for ages. Watching this over time has been quite interesting, and there are few areas where this showed up more than Chinese firearms. If you bought a Norinco years ago you knew you were buying complete junk. Then it started to evolve as they improve their manufacturing processes, they didn't get more expensive they just got better at making things. Suddenly they started coming out with guns like their 1911 copy which stands up toe to toe with almost every other American or Canadian 1911 copy. Other guns were the same and suddenly the raincoat was not a discount firearm with discount quality.

It is hard to replicate the lessons that they've learned and the techniques and models that they have put in place to produce the way that they do.

They also have different red tape issues, in some ways much better than what we have and in other ways more restrictive. They have a lower cost of living so it's not that the labor is repressed it's that they don't need as much money to get by. And they have existing supply chain so it's very easy for them to build something new and just drop it into the existing market flow.

So no it's not just that they have a repressed labor force which is inaccurate or that they have a bunch of government programs. Even if you were using automation or paid the same wages it would be very difficult to duplicate what they've got without spending a number of years working at it

Gas prices are going down and so are a lot of things. Manufacturing is returning and The Gulf of America is open for business again.

There's no "unmasking" you weirdo. He's just a regular judge trying to administer the law. This is the executive trying to eliminate any check on his power by attacking the co-equal judicial branch. To end the rule of law and replace it with rule by executive fiat. Trump has done this consistently with the judiciary--and the media, for that matter. Every judge that inconveniences him is smeared and attacked and threatened to discourage the next one.

The "dismantling" you're cheering about is the dismantling of democracy.

I've come the conclusion that the dismantling of democracy is exactly what Nationalist wants.  Either that or he is the stupidest thing on two legs.

Yes, I had one when I worked in the US but have since drawn it down. It's the same as our RRSP. And if you are a retiree depending on it for your income you are watching it shrink before your eyes seeing your capital gains disappear or even showing losses. How many of these companies will still be paying dividends when the recession hits and the necessity to lower interest rates also kills your fixed income returns.

So... you don't understand how a 401K works.

By the time you retire, your 401K has shifted to low risk, more bonds, things not impacted by volatile market ups and downs.

If you are a retiree with that aggressive of a portfolio, you've seriously screwed the pooch.

About 30% of my portfolio is equities. My stock picks are conservative and most pay dividends. I'm down $110k since December. I can afford to stand by and watch without having to sell to pay the rent or put food on the table but many can't. They say the death of democracy is directly proportional to the death of empathy.

That's what you said before they sank another 10%.

@gatomontes99 I don't blame or judge you for ignorance (everyone has gaps in knowledge) but I certainly do blame you for for combining ignorance with being a smug, arrogant douche. And now also for being a gutless weasel. Since you don't have the integrity to admit that you were mistaken, rude and arrogant while being ass backward--I'll do your Google University homework for you. For the folks playing along at home:

This is you
"Diamonds have a very low price elasticity. Increased prices result in severe drops in demand because a diamond is not necessary."

This is reality CFI
The lower the price elasticity of demand, the less responsive the quantity demanded is given a change in price. When the price elasticity of demand is less than one, the good is considered to show
inelastic demand. When the quantity demanded does not respond to a change in price, it is said that demand is perfectly inelastic. If an inelastic good has its price increased, it will lead to increased revenues because each unit will be sold at a higher price.

This is reality - Investopedia

"Usually, unique goods, such as diamonds, are inelastic because they have few if any substitutes."

When has any other president personally attacked a judge and called for their dismissal when a ruling hasn’t gone their way? Anyone who thinks this is normal or acceptable in a country that claims to believe in democracy and rule of law is a complete id*ot

The word is "drivel" you halfwit. And yes, the dismantling of democracy. The intended disempowerment of the judicial branch to a state where laws can no longer protect the people from the whims of a dictator.

In a nation of laws, you appeal an unfavorable decision.

In a budding dictatorship, you attack the judge personally, you call the judge biased, you call the judge corrupt, you attack the judge's authority to adjudicate the matter, you attack the judicial branches authority to adjudicate the matter and ultimately you refuse to abide by decisions no matter what level of court has rendered the decision. The fall of a nation of laws in a few easy steps. And that's what you're blindly cheering on, without knowing anything whatsoever about any of the judges in question. You cheer it just because your master said it.

Keep buying. If it's on sale and you buy and it goes on sale again, buy more. You are effectively adding years of gains to your portfolio when things like this happen. Buy buy buy.

BTW, a bunch of countries are already negotiating fairer trades. What are you going to say when we come out the other end of this and we have set the stage for stronger manufacturing and better jobs?

You want to know why the middle class isn't keeping up with the wealthy? It's because the good jobs went over seas. Now Trump is pulling those jobs back in. The problem is, you and your ilk don't have the balls to withstand even the slightest pressure. You fold like a cheap suit at the hint of a problem. This is why I tell libbies to shut up, the adults are in charge now.

Do you guys just not care about being honest or are you really this woefully ignorant of recent history?

Biden specifically called out Justice Thomas after Roe v Wade and nevermind all the general attacks on the Supreme Court he repeatedly made as well did just about every other major Democrat in Congress.

This notion that no one criticizes members of the court from the executive, as if Trump doing it now is some big sacrilegious thing, is just stupid nonsense.
