According to Global News, Trudeau has met Trump's demands for securing our border, thus staving off tariffs for a while.

  • In a bid to head off crippling tariffs threatened by U.S. President Donald Trump, Canada has committed to tasking 10,000 frontline personnel with protecting the border.
  • McGuinty also says Canada’s promised contribution of $200 million to fight organized crime and fentanyl trafficking is in addition to the $1.3 billion Ottawa already has announced.

  • The money will help fund the appointment of a “fentanyl czar,” who will serve as a liaison between Canada and the U.S. on cross-border efforts to curb fentanyl traffic.

I'm still not a fan of Trump's threats and insults, but he definitely got what he wanted from Trudeau when he threatened these tariffs.

We all know that Trudeau was never going to take any form of security seriously. Trump is barely into his third week and he already has Trudeau dancing to his fiddle.

This is like the end of a vampire movie, or Fatal Attraction, when you think the baddie is lying there dead but they pop up like they were never harmed and the battle is back on.

This thing with Trump gave Trudeau a chance to puff up his chest and get CBC's sycophant reporters all hot and sweaty, but at the end of the day he just acted tough while he was checking off all the items on Trump's list.

This guy is going to be PM at the end of this year:

what are your thoughts on that? I know nothing about Pierre Poilievre.

Pierre appears to be a no-nonsense, unflappable leader with a knack for delivering solid answers and quick, witty retorts.

But TBH, it's like a game of checkers where all the other player's pieces are lined up for a multi-jump.

Trudeau's government has been a complete mess, partly because our MSM just keeps blowing sunshine up his arse no matter how badly he screws up, and it's easy for Pierre to say things like "maybe we shouldn't have done that" over and over.

Trudeau keeps on upping the carbon tax, Poilievre keeps saying that he wants to axe it.

Trudeau keeps saying things like "We committed a genocide at the Kamloops Residential School" when it turns out to be a bunch of tree roots. They didn't even investigate it for over a year, they just called it a genocide that whole time.

Some 12-yr-old muslim girl said that a Chinese guy ran up to her and cut her hijab with scissors, it seemed pretty fake, Trudeau still took the opportunity to call all Canadians islamophobic, then when we found out it was a hoax, just a day later lol, he just doubled-down on his insult towards Canadians.

Trudeau said that he couldn't foresee a situation where we'd have vaccine mandates, we had vaccine mandates a month later.

Trudeau opted not to order jabs from the US, he was going to get Chinese ones instead, then we wound up being at the back of the Pfizer/Moderna lineup, so he poached 1.9million vaccines from the 3rd-world charity pool. They were supposed to go to front-line healthworkers there but Trudeau snatched them up for old, white Canadians.

Then he had all his massive scandals....

The fish just keep jumping into the boat, Polievre whacks them with his oar.

I think it's funny how the donkeys are framing this as a big win.  $200M (nothing) for border security and then some hollow, symbolic gestures.

AMERICA IS GREAT AGAIN!

It's more than that though: it means that they will cross any line now, the conversion from independent observation and processing of the reality to parroting propaganda complete. And it's more scary than funny too because it's 1984 that is a creative analysis of the 1933-1939, and everything that followed. This is all what's needed really. Some will go on to do the physical stuff and the rest, explain it away to the drumming of propaganda. They won't object, that cannot stand to it. Their minds already prepared and converted to follow any directive, however impossible and outright ridiculous. Scary: and right here, not in some funny book.

If you were just watching CBC you wouldn't have noticed.

The donkeys are known as the party of lying, so it's not surprising that they're lying about this as well.

10,000 border patrol... That's neither minor nor symbolic.

The US and India don't want our terrorists, but unfortunately that's what we're becoming famous for. And it doesn't help when our PM invites terrorists to dinner in India.

no thats only 1,500 more people... added to the 8,500 that already do the border. another $200 million is pennies. and worth it to stop guns from coming from the US. whatever.

as previously cited, Mexico has had 10k troops at the border since 2021. negotiated by Biden!

the drug war was all a ruse to cover a trade war ploy... in case the trade leverage didn't have any teeth. it didn't. Canada and Mexico are capable of hurting US business interests. numerous US trade groups freaked out. why would Trump say from the oval office that economic negotiations would continue when it was actually a drug problem?

my wife was at the grocery store again today. a couple of days ago, US agricultural products were stocked and no one was touching them. today they are half price. soon they will be throwing it out. a friend of mine works for the BC liquor distribution branch. US liquor is stagnant on the shelves. these are surgical trade attacks that are very painful for US industry.

the US has made itself king by being the integration point of the worlds economy. Trumps dumb isolationist thinking will dump the US economy. but that just means more for everyone else as they become integration hubs in different markets.

go Trump! go!

Will take your word on this one. I know next to nothing about Trudeau. My intuition was that he would cave in. He seems like someone who at his core does not think beyond tomorrow or next week. Not a long term thinker.

Not to be a downer but just so you're aware, the constitution says that we don't have to have an election until fall of 2026. Not 2025.

We have election laws in place that are passed by parliament that say it will be in 2025 but those laws can easily be undone for dozens of reasons.

If Trudeau, or Carney after he takes over,  were to declare that dealing with The threat of the US tariffs was a crisis and it wasn't the right time for an election they could easily carry on to fall 2026 with the support of the NDP.

Just food for thought
