gatomontes99 Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 We have had 36 years without a true leader. This is what it looks like. CdnFox Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 He's a bully and this is what bullies do. Not much surprise here The problem is going to run into is that the more people he actually tariffs the more it's going to hurt to tariff anyone else. It's all fine and dandy to say you don't need anything from Canada. But suddenly you are going to not need anything from Canada, Mexico, Brazil, columbia, china, parts of Europe and so on and basically all you've done is created an instant 25% inflation and weakened your negotiating position entirely. Good news for us in a way Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data

I seem to remember someone in office who couldn't move the needle economically, couldn't deliver on his promises and drove massive elective deficits before leaving the country in complete shambles. Hm... Someone who lost half of his cabinet of "best people," who coincidentally denounced him as dangerously unfit for office. Someone who was twice impeached and became a convicted felon--with numerous other crimes on record. Someone who stole from his charity and ran fraudulent scams on the people who looked up to him. Hm... Someone who put our international relationships and esteem in the gold-plated toilet. And we became a laughingstock. Hm... Can't quite remember the name, but that guy was definitely a "true leader." Feels like the new guy is doing his best to emulate that guy, whoever he was. Edited January 27 by Hodad 1 Quote

herbie Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 (edited) Well he just stood in front of the world's leading economists and told them 'they' would pay for his tariffs. Even told then how he's ordering lenders to lower interest rates when he doesn't have the authority to even do that in his own country. I mean tell lies to people who know they're lies and think you're the clever one? And within hours told Columbia how he's going to punish them for not allowing military planes to land at their civilian airports and dump off migrants. Like what kind of shithole country thinks it can control it's own airports, anyway when King Shit says otherwise? Edited January 27 by herbie 1 Quote

gatomontes99 Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 LAUGHING MY ASŚ OFF!!!!! Quote At the same time, the Government of Colombia, under the leadership of President Gustavo Petro, has arranged the *planon of the presidential* to facilitate the dignified return of the fellow citizens who were to arrive in the country today in the morning, from deportation flights. This measure responds to the Government ' s commitment to ensuring decent conditions. In no way Colombians, as patriots and rights subjects, have been and will not be banished from Colombian territory. https://www.presidencia.gov.co/prensa/Paginas/-Presidente-Gustavo-Petro-dispone-avion-presidencial-para-el-retorno-digno-de-connacionales-y-liderara-esfuerz-250126.aspx So Trump says, "FU! Here are some tariffs and some bank regs!" Colombia then sends the presidential airplane to pick them up. Not only did he get Colombia to take them back, they are now paying for it. THAT IS HOW WINNING IS DONE! 1 Quote The Rules for Liberal tactics: If they can't refute the content, attack the source. If they can't refute the content, attack the poster. NAME REMOVED Posted January 27 Author Report Posted January 27 (edited) On the bright side, it's only 6 days into his Presidency. There is a chance he completely forgets about the tariffs to Canada, and proceeds as usual without them. I mean he still has to threaten Germany, France, Australia, UK, Spain, Poland, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and Finland. At this pace, he can start putting tariffs on different planets, by the end of the year. Mars hasn't been paying their fair share. After all, those unmanned spacecraft that have landed on the planet don't pay for themselves! he has a tough schedule ahead, but I have faith in him. I think that Trump can alienate all of the NATO allies by valentine's Day. Tariff everyone! Edited January 27 by DUI_Offender Quote
myata Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 Not really: he's playing out the old playbook. Appoint a visible scapegoat. Tickle misplaced national pride. Throw some threats around in a show of power. All the old, familiar staples. And the political system is sleepwalking right into it. Astounding and disgusting. A total and accomplished decay of duty, integrity and morality under the blanket of formal processes. Just like the last time. Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant

myata Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 As seen from here, two main scenarios are possible. He throws up a lot of mud and chaos to see who and where will budge and show something real to his base for the initial period. Sure renaming and chasing immigrants will keep some of them entertained for a while, especially the fascist psycho kind but some will get bored seen nothing of the promised paradise and nirvana of instant prosperity. Surely if sane people stand together soft talking but never budging he'll have to pedal back, like from the tariff wars or Greenland, etc. with nothing real to show for all the bombastic chatting. He can be hoping to score a quick point on Ukraine with some stinky deal with Vlad at her expense, but may see a surprise there too. So some of his following may begin asking questions. And that brings up another possibility: what if he tries to follow on with more sinister plans? We absolutely have to ask it ourselves because most certainly his gang has been and is asking it, and devising plans for it. And this angle makes the situation highly uncertain and dangerous. I've no idea what political establishment is thinking or even where looking, but the appearance is that it would just fold up in a snap. Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
