I was not referring to Alberta - rather Iceland.

Sigh.

Pay attention.

You refereed to newfoundland. You pointed out they have a low population growth rate.   I corectly pointed out they are the worst economy in an otherwise prosperous nation. Their economy sucks. The population that has the LARGEST growth rate on the other hand is also leading the country in economic growth most of the time.

So your theory that newfoundland has no prolbems with low growth is absolutely false.  They suffer for it.

It won't happen overnight, that's for certain.  But it'll happen and until we do catch up we'll have to be careful about letting our population grow too quickly.

Good to know we're both on the same side about growing our population too fast. Its encouraging knowing how unlikely your path to that is...growing the economy first.

LMAO!

It sounds like you're more standing on your head than your side ;)

LOL you seem to regularly be encouraged by your own imagination of what people said... but didnt.  But hey, they say ignorance is bliss and why shouldn't at least one of us be blissful? :)

The problem is that Canada is not a democracy, deep in essence. It is not governed by the people in their interests but by enlightened elites for the people, in the ways that the elites believe right for the little folk and never forgetting their own interests. To get the formal democratic stamp of legitimacy the elites need the look that everything is mostly OK. Any minor shakeup like Covid shows that it's only a pretense. They really are clueless and care mostly about themselves. There may not be another first world democracy where government elites were so much isolated from the realities and interests of the population.

If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant

You said nothing else that has anything to do with growing the economy?

This is going to take even longer👌

Awww look at you trying desperately to find some sort of way to justify your obviously dishonest posts ;)  Puppy chasing tail is always amusing :)

What i've said very very very very clearly is that population growth has to be at or lower the increase in infrastructure/economy and that means we need to lower it to that and probably a little beyond that while we catch up a bit.

If you want more immigration you'll need to make sure the rate at which the infrastructure and economy is growing matches whatever you want.

Pretty simple.

I get your left wing echo chamber thinking combined with your desire for me to be wrong during at least ONE of our discussions someday is leading you to try to twist the conversation in a different direction and pretend i said something i didn't.  But ... i didn't.

We will have to lower immigration to meet what we can sustain and if we want more in the future we'll have to increase our ability to sustain it.

Fortunately once we get rid of the woke left dyamic duo of justin and jaggers that you love so much we can not only reduce immigration but also get to work on repairing that economy. So, there you go .

IOW, grow the economy.

Good luck.

Great idea! We can stop all immigration and go back to ignoring the infrastructure collapse only the socialist progressive leftists told you was coming 25 years ago. If there's no one else to blame, wood won't rot. pipes won't burst, iron will stop rusting tc. etc.

And we all know addressing two things at once is humanly impossible.

IF - If we want more immigration. Yes.

Do we?

And no luck is required - simply getting rid of your woke buddy will already improve the economy :) Literally doing nothing at all would be a big boost compared to what he's doing now.

Kid, you know you're wrong. You realize the lefties didn't warn of anything, they CAUSED everything to collapse.

If  you didn't you wouldn't have tried to lie and pretend i ever suggested stopping all immigration.

You and @eyeball  are peas in a pod -  can't defend your woke viewpoints without lying.

You keep calling me a leftist like that was some kind of insult.

That depends.  Do you consider being an emotion driven unthinking tribal fanatic with delusions of adequacy an insult?

It's praise coming from you people barely left of Mussolini.

Mussolini was a socalist bud.  Did all the things you like, lots of social programs lots of 'progressive' stuff, lots of public works and public spending, health care....  he was one of you.  Left of him was stalin.

You actually remind me of him a lot.

By world standards, Iceland and Newfoundland are successful, rich societies.

Ordinary people in both places live well now.

For centuries, Icelanders and Newfoundlanders have lived, prospered. They are civilised.

Nope, that is not a true statement. By world standards both are on the low end of the scale for developed nations,  especially iceland and newfoundland is in bad shape and would be worse without numerous decades of support from the rest of canada.

Do you believe lying somehow makes your argument better?

Mass immigration?

Iceland has some 300,000. Newfoundland? About 500,000.

======

Politcians {the State, according to Mearscheimer) want to tax.

And did you have a point? Or were you just proud of your ability to count :)

Disagree.

For centuries, Iceland has been a successful, civilised society. No immigration.

Newfoundland too.

Realist, I entirely agree.

I reckon that Mearscheimer mistakes the "State" with the person in power.

That's just factually wrong, sorry.  Newfoundland is only where it is due to support from canada, and iceland is not doing great at all.

those are facts. If you want to lie to yourself about it i guess you can

I know Newfoundland. I have been to Iceland.

These places, islands - with so few people - have survived for centuries.

I suspect that you Americans and your Constitution only survive because you are States, islands.

Thrive? Disagree very, very strongly.

What a word.

The people in Iceland have organised a civilised society for centuries.

In Newfoundland too.

I agree that you Americans have managed for 200 years or so - except when you violently disagreed.
