There seems to be a number of commentators suggesting that people have expressed they were unhappy with it. 

The ratings were huge because everyone missed teh olympics during covid, and i think a lot of people were disappointed.  The general overall seems to be 'meh - it really wasn't impressive whether you were offended or not".

We'll see how the ratings go for the rest of the olympics.

Most major media outlets (if not all) have reported on this, and many prominent non-anonymous people, from Harris Butker to the Speaker of the House, have said something.

That's about 100 million in advertising, and it sounds like they may not be the last. Plus a number of people including politicians and the pope from around the world are condemning it. Sounds like the french have gone from sticking up for it to apologizing for it now.

This could be  a bit of a 'bud lite' moment for france and the olympics after all if people dont' buy the apology. There's already calls for a boycott.   

Looks like it REALLY didn't go over well.

Wow, I'm impressed. The same people who say it is imaginary when a great majority of the world's scientists say man made global warming is real and show the data and observations to back it up. How can you take people like that seriously because I can't.

Yeah, that's more about your hatred and bigotry and it is about those people. Basically you just said that all christians are climate deniers. That isn't remotely true but in your mind because of your hatred and bigotry they are all bad people and they all believe the same thing.

BTW  pope francis? You know  one of those evil christians who critisized this opening and therefore must not believe in climate change, has spoken out loudly and frequently about climate change and how it's a 'road to death' and good Christians should be joining the fight against it.

Lol...we got us a Simone "I didn't think there would be pressure at the Olympics" Biles here, doing some major back bends and flips.

It isn't the he people used in the representation that was the problem. It was the clear intent to incite anger. It was the blatant bigotry. This wasn't a reimagination of the last super, it was an intentional bastatrdization. The director thought he was highlighting bigotry, he just didn't know it was his own.

OK, what makes someone a Christian? It isn't love. Anyone can love others. 

Jesus preached on a great deal of things and love doesn't mean acceptance of deviant behavior.

I didn't enjoy the show. I don't enjoy watching the cult of LGBTQ do things to denigrate my faith (never mind the disgusting nature of a naked dude on a platter or the idiocy of trying to say it was for the Greek God Dionysus making us aware of the absurdity of violence when they are ignorant of the cult of Dionysus that engaged in violent frenzied actions...) during what is supposed to be a worldwide event where athletes come together to compete as sportsman in fair competition against each other.

Really.  So if you misgender someone there's absolutely no offense unless they "choose" to be offended?  So - THEY should be charged with the hate crime?   LOL!

Sorry but no where in canadian law, or the civil rights tribunals, nor common sense is that a concept. People are offended when someone speaks to them in a fashion that is rude or demeaning or threatening or the like, and christians would obviously find this demeaning, which appears to be its intent. 

how you DEAL  with being offended is a choice of course.  How you react and how strongly it affects you and its impact can be something you have a bit of control over. But that's another story.

Clearly people were offended and it's easy to see why. I'm not a practicing Christian but i can entirely see why those who are would be.  So.. this was supposed to be an opening ceremony to an event that was supposed to bring the world together and they chose to do something divisive and insulting instead.
