From The Line

"Trudeau is going to leave before the next election, he is rapidly eating up runway for his successor. As a sheer matter of practical logistics, he needs to leave this month — or early July at the latest — to allow the party enough to both run a leadership race, and build enough profile and goodwill for his replacement. It's going to be a slog, and frankly, I can think of only a few individuals who possess the strong professional credentials and total lack of political savvy to volunteer to be as popular as Michael Ignatieff and as doomed as Kim Campbell.

It's Mark Carney.

That's it.

Meanwhile, there's still Trudeau the man to contend with. I stand by my previous assessments. I think Justin Trudeau is both too egotistical and too bunker-bound to cede a fight with a man he viscerally and obviously despises. I also think that, even now, he has a good instinct for political timing. The next election could be a year away. Any number of weird events — including the re-election of Donald Trump — could happen between now and then. Any one of them could tip the odds back in the Liberals' favour.

In short, I think Trudeau thinks he's playing rope-a-dope. "

In other words Canadian politics to remain boring for at least another year...

Most Canadians would trust Poilievre to deal with Trump. Or at least those who were recently polled about it.

Trudeau doesn't care about the country he is running, and even some of his most loyal constituents are starting to grow weary of him.

That said, I know some liberals who would vote for him because he is not Poilievre.

Trudeau seems like the kind who would proudly take such votes, but this should be something he should be deeply ashamed of.

Another elitist running the country,  we have had enough of that. Lol But if Trudeau is still in power and Trump wins, We are in for a world of hurt.

1. Strikes me as naive.

2. The reasons for voting AGAINST Poilievre could be numerous, just as the reasons for voting against Trudeau.

What makes Mark Carney "elitist", by your estimation?  That he's crazy smart and highly regarded around the world?

When I hear someone complain about "elitists" in a context like this, what you're really telling us is that three word slogans are the key to your heart.  🙄

For the record, I don't think Mark Carney should run in the next election.

They had there chance under trudeau, and he rubs shoulders with.the same type of people. And maybe he should be a MP 1st. He is not suited for the rough world of politics. He is another Ignatieff and will be treated the same way. And for him and the country to be successful , he will need to govern like a conservative.  He is just of waste of time.

That is the most vague and wordy non answer. O_o

Enough of these central planning freaks who want to “save the planet” by impoverishing the population.

The monopolies that employee you and sell to you do central planning, both independently and in collusion.

Ok, fair.  I'm saying there are more things wrong with these guys than right.  Their proponents tend to say... At least he's not the other guy....

Private companies, provided they aren’t virtual monopolies, can attempt central planning and the marketplace can respond.  When governments overreach and impose pricey regulations and taxes to meet some abstract global goal, that quickly becomes a problem, especially since Goldman alumnus Carney doesn’t have to worry about money like most people.  Same goes for Trudeau.

1. It becomes a problem in practice or in principle ?  And regulations, taxes, or "global" goals don't need to be a part of central planning in all cases.  My point is that it's a tool that is useful in some cases.

Word is that Kearney is already talking to and working with gerald butts. Trudeau may be a bit of a dolt but Gerald butts is not. I don't think he would let mark run for the leadership if Trudeau steps down.

There is always some !diot that will take a run at the job thinking that maybe if he rolls the dice somehow it'll come up double sixes but it won't be anybody with a brain or real credentials that would sway the public.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data

Gerald Butt's, LOL There is one reason to stay away from Carney.

Not true. He cares a lot more about the country than our disposable income.

Raise the PM's salary to $14 million and draft Connor McDavid.

I like the cold, cruel and small remark from Freeland, about con voters. Lol So sad.
