Bitcoins? A total waste of electricity. A few may gain but overall, it's a great loss.

We buy electricity from Newfoundland at Cdn 0.5 cents per kwh.

People in Boston pay about US 20 cents per kwh for this electricity.

Talk about a mark-up, middle-man - arbitrage profit!

At least Hydro-Quebec makes a profit.

Sure after you blackmailed Nfld....one of the poorest provinces in the union...something to be proud of...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

True.

But you miss the point that many Newfoundlanders have never understood.

An idea is one thing, Bring it to market another.

====

You van catch a cod fish. Can you sell it?

Don't worry they understand it perfectly, and have not forgotten how quebec ripped them off in their time of need....and when that contract is up "soon" your bill is going to reflect that...today there is no need to run or use Quebec's hydro lines...talks about running under sea cables from NFLD to maritimes into the US, cutting quebec off completely...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Thats the point it is not Quebecs energy it originates from NFLD...and soon that contract they signed with Quebec will expire, NFLD is looking at other options one of them is under sea cables to the maritimes, then onward to the US same market different route. Quebecs cheap energy will soon come to an end....

NFLD will soon have another hydro dam project near completion  with more energy, and I'm pretty sure it is not going to be routed through quebec...NFLD's have a long memory, and this did not sit well with all NFLDS...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

You - and Smallwood - miss the point.

I own gold on the Moon. Am I "rich"?

No the point is very clear, Quebec will take advantage of whom every they can....and soon you'll be cashing in on that gold to pay for your hydro...at full cost....Your not that rich when it comes to getting your equalization payment, no when applying for that your broke...Liberals days are numbered you might want to start counting your gold just yet...

Waste electricity locally, and only use the bike a few months of the year?

Use your electricity to heat your terrasse and melt the snow so you can use your e-bike year round.

IME, Male Newfoundlanders are no different from Icelanders. Crazy risk-takers.

Female Quebecers are the wise of the bunch.

For something that can be used comfortably 3 months of the year? If your lucky. It's absolutely astounding how many Canadian politicians failed geography. Given the state of the Canadian education system perhaps not!

Oh FFS how broke ass are you? Electric bikes are a hell of a lot cheaper than quads, boats or snowmobiles people don't use year round.

Yes that's exactly what they're proposing!

Too hard to hold your purse on a bike?

Got to be a greenie or liberal. Can't have a discussion without slurs being tossed around. For your edification totally impractical for Canada!

The average travel distance for Canadians in a year is 15k. Assuming 15% is discretionary your still left with >12k : on a bike, no way!

Are you using a food deliver service? I'm not and neither do most Canadians. A bike no way!

Do you work from home? I don't most people don't so how do you carry your tools to work. A bike no way.

National Seasonal Temperatures - 3 months of the year if your lucky

  • Winter: -15°C to -5°C
  • Spring: 0°C to 10°C
  • Summer: 10°C to 25°C
  • Autumn: 0°C to 10°C

So unless your looking to live in one of the socialists planned 15 minute concentration camps I think we can safely rule bicycles out as a viable mode of transportation.

On the contrary, your political leanings have nothing to do with that statement. Supreme ignorance does.
You think when I lived 1km away from work for one summer I drove my f^cking 4x4? Those people in the bike lane during rush hour are doing it because they like to breathe exhaust while they exercise?

But you have the option. Most of us don't so spending $k of my money to appease a few pisses us off!

Montreal isn't BC.  There's lots of snow in the winter.

Actually, I was born in Montreal, and am a Quebecer.

Did your school play the Canadian national anthem every morning growing up?  My francophone Montreal friend says they did not in her schools.

Oh FFS you don't buy a bike to ride it in the snow.
You don't buy a Nissan Leaf EV tog go on road trips.
You don't toss your winter boots because you can't swim in them.

Ditch the stupid thinking.

Actually Yes. I went to an Anglophone school, but back in the 80s we did sing the Canadian national anthem, although I think it may have only been on Mondays and Fridays. There was some schedule whereby sometimes it was sung in English and sometimes it was sung in French.

We also prayed in school. Not all schools did, but my elementary school was Catholic, and we sometimes recited the Hail Mary and sometimes the Lord's Prayer.
