Ok.  Time to get real and make peace with something -  there is NO chance, zero, nada, that we're going to hit our world climate goals. These guys are talking that paris isn't enough - and we're not going to hit paris. At all.  we're certainly not going to do BETTER than paris.  There is nothing Canada can reasonably do as a country -  other than perhaps invent the tech that will allow future generations to stop the process and eventually roll things back, even if it does take a few centuries.

So it's time for you and all those who have been worried about climate change to realize that fight is not one we're going to win right now, what we have to do is focus on adaptation and developing the tech that will one day allow for things to get better. Electric cars isn't going to cut it - that's a stop gap at best.

20 meter rise in sea level over 100 years isn't great but it's not exactly an extinction level event. we can start to move our people away from the coastlines easy enough. We have to put a lot more money into forest fire reduction, and make sure all our people have good heating and cooling.  We'll need to reorganize a few other things as well, but it's not the end of the world.

But if we don't stop focusing on stupid 1diotic carbon taxes and weakening our economy and kidding ourselves about what we can or can't do - then it's going to be far worse.

We don't have " a few centuries", that's just the point. That's why these scientists are so frenzied in trying to get people to drastically alter their behaviors and start paying strong attention to the most dangerous real time threat the entire world faces...we are out of time for stalling and " thinking about it".  Think of where shorelines will be in under 50 years, worldwide, not just locally.  Then, if you.live inside 24 miles of a coastline, move inland another 24 miles ...that will be where your children will have a beach in 50 years ....think quickly...we are quickly running out of time.

Well we better make it - because thats what's going to happen.  We have no pull with the rest of the world right now, trudeau has reduced our limited world power from low to zero.  And the other polluters are not interested, and there is NOTHING canada can do to substantially cut world emissions, even if we all killed ourselves tomorrow.

SO now it's adaption. We can do what we can to help showcase better ways to live and to slow down the climb and we can look for the next gen teck but that's it.  It is out of our hands.

That opportunity is gone and it's not coming back.  TRUDEAU isn't going to make his commitments - and the liberals are supposed to be all about climate change.  What chance do you think china is going to reduce emissions has?!!?

Its impossible to take you seriously becasue if you felt this was a serious issue, you'd be looking at what we can actually do and you're not.  You're still dicking around with the idea that canada has ANY say in this, or that the other powers that be will magically decide to take it serious.

All we can do at this point is focus on adaption - what will we need to do in order to adapt over that time, try to make it work out for us as best we can (canada will get some benefits from global warming) and do our best to help invent the next technologies that will one day allow carbon levels to be seriously reduced and return the planet back to a decent temperature.

 

That's it.  That's all we've got.  And even THAT is being severely threatened as trudeau, who was SUPPOSED TO FIX climate change,  has trashed our economy to the point where nobody is even thinking about climate change and nobody has money to SPEND on climate change adaption OR development of new tech.

You guys bet on 'carbon tax' and lost.  It didn't work - it just made everything more expensive. Now 'prevention' is off the table, it's too late.
