Overdose deaths went up sharply in 2020 and increased again in 2021. Mental health issues arising from isolation were a huge reason for that. 

There were 30,000 extra OD deaths in 2021 compared to 2019. If there are 35-40 years of life lost each time then those 30,000 extra deaths represent about a million years of life lost. That's about the same as the amount of life lost from 1M covid deaths.

No one said, "every single excess death was due to covid." 

There were 1.2M+ excess US deaths during COVID, so 30K is a drop in that bucket.

And yes, 1.2M+ excess deaths does mean that "people in every age and/or health covid demographic had an increased chance of death because of covid." You can write off individual deaths for ANY reason, but that does not make them insignificant. For example, children suffered from a disease similar to Kawasaki's Disease from COVID infection.

The avg age of covid deaths in the US was right around 75, and the avg life expectancy is 77, but people [with 1 or more co-morbidities, and an average of more than 2 co-morbidities] don't have a life expectancy of 77. They're the ones who bring the average down.

People who are 75 and still jogging 5 miles a day bring the average up.

We started vaxing kids in Nov of 2021. One year later, this is how many kids had died of covid:

30 more kids under 12 died in one year. (41-11)
