2. Milquetoasts runaway from conspiracy theories, as there's at least an element of truth in so many of them.

It's alarming how many people will just believe what they're told without question.

If you compare the list of covid truths from Fauci and the CDC vs the conspiracy theories/disinformation, the conspiracists win hands down.

With the benefit of hindsight we know that Fauci funded GOF research on the coronavirus to make it more transmissible among humans long before he ever told us all that it came from a bat-(pangolin (or other intermediary species)-human trio in a wetmarket.

He never even mentioned that there was a possibility that there was a coronavirus that his own team had manipulated in the nearby lab that might have leaked.

How much of a conflict of interest is that?

"Conspiracy theorists" were banned from social media for talking about the BSL4 lab in Wuhan.

Then "science" was pimping covid fear among the whole population long after data had determined that only the elderly and those with co-morbidities were at risk.

Then Fauci and science pimped vaccines as our only hope. "Everything else is shit."

It wasn't until the vaxed started dying that mainstream science finally started saying that "Among vaxed deaths, only the very elderly with co-mobidities are dying". BS, that was the case since day 1.

When 15,000 people died in 2020 covid was 24/7. When 16,000 multi-vaxed people died in 2022 we heard crickets.

Anyone who isn't a "conspiracy theorist" now is one stupid piece of crap or a liar.

This is why it's so crucial for us to think for ourselves - even our favorite talking heads can disappoint at times, so we have to be on guard at all times.

Democrats hate questions; they hate thinking for themselves; they just want their marching orders, and that's it. Antifa is a perfect example of this mindless obedience.

1. It comes down to critical thinking. Buying into something because it aligns with my beliefs/values is not good enough. I need more than that to buy into what someone says.
2. Gut instincts are frequently wrong especially when you do not have all of the information.. not even close most of the time.

1. No it doesn't. It comes down to right and wrong. It comes down to recognizing the truth. "Critical thinking" gets you bullshit theories like "Critical Race Theory".

2. Gut instinct definitely has its place. "Critical thinking" can work when it's free of bullshit activism - same applies to science in general.

I believe that it's just bizarre how gullible and stupid you are.

1) Fauci absolutely, positively funded gain of research on a specific virus in order to make it communicable between humans. Do you have an opinion on that? No? Of course not, because you weren't told to have an opinion on it.

2) that specific virus started spreading among humans in the exact location where the lab is (The earth is 510,000,000 sq km, the virus leaked out in the sq km that the lab is)

3) Fauci went on TV and said "A virus in a wetmarket went from a bat to an intermediary species and became infectious to humans" without ever mentioning the fact that his own scientists had made that virus infectious to humans right in that exact spot

4) All of the MSM outlets and social media giants that unquestioningly pimped Fauci's messages to us for three years straight blocked info about the lab where Fauci's GOF research was done one the virus. They even went so far as to ban people from social media just for mentioning the lab.

Regardless of whether or not it was Fauci's strain of the virus that 'killed' millions of people, Fauci is completely discredited as a scientist and as a public official for not disclosing the fact that he had funded GOF research on that specific virus in that exact location.

Regardless of whether or not it was Fauci's strain of the virus that 'killed' millions of people, it was an extreme attack on freedom of speech and a highly suspect move for the MSM & social media giants to mount such a disciplined plan to hide the fact of Faucis disinformation.

Then The WHO decided to tell us that the virus "probably wasn't transmissible among humans" after they knew how 'deadly' it was and how quickly it was spreading. Since when has "Err on the side of pandemic" been a thing?

Yeah.  All that stuff is pretty much straight up true.  And yes the media did brutally repress anyone who said that the virus came from the lab for the longest time.  While the covid issue abounds with crazy theories on both sides - this is the unvarnished truth. He did that.

Actually Good ole Albert Einstein noted that hunches and guess work were an important part of the process. That leads to hypothesis and testing, or in his case hypothesis and math proofs.  He further noted that often the appearance of a solution being 'elegant' or having a certain beauty to it often lead him in the correct direction tho it would be some time before he arrived at a proof.

So - the beginning stages of science is indeed guesswork. Go tell that kid you owe him an apology :)

For sure gut instinct has its place. For example, that gut instinct that tells you that you're being lied to.

You don't always need all the info to know that things just aren't adding up.

For example, at the same time the media was hyping covid up to be a huge killer that we should all be terrified of, The WHO told us all: "Covid prolly ain't transmissible among humans" and the MSM hype train was ALL perfectly fine with that answer.

That's not just counter-intuitive, it's impossible:

1) Common sense and ancient wisdom tell us to "err on the side of caution"

2) All of the media outlets (as in 100.0% of them) were pimping covid as a straight-up killer

3) All of the above media outlets, who were in lock step about how much of an unstoppable killer covid was, all agreed that we should just let people from Wuhan fly into our countries and wander around freely. ALL OF THEM. Those covid-phobes all basically said "Let's err on the side of pandemic." That's like if someone says that they're an arachnophobe and then a big spider jumped on their hand and they said "Meh, it's probably not poisonous..." Never gonna happen. I wouldn't need the expert opinion of that person's psychiatrist to know that they weren't really an arachnophobe.

They all, as in 100% of them, acted like Trump was just being a racist for pumping the brakes on visitors from Wuhan - as if there was no other good reason for it but they were also deathly afraid of covid...

At that point I'd say we definitely didn't "have all the info" - not even close; i.e. we didn't know what the CFR was going to be, how deadly it would be be for people in specific health demographics, exactly how contagious it would be, what kinds of things would help fight it, etc, we basically knew nothing. But we did know that the people who were saying "WE SHOULD BE FREAKING OUT!!!!" were also saying "but we should let infected people come here and wander around unless they voluntarily quarantine", and those sentiments/emotions/message are mutually exclusive. Our own PM said "We don't think that covid will affect Canadians very much", the media was fine with that.

There's a 1,000% chance that we were being lied to. There just a lot of people here who are incapable of considering that CBC or Trudeau/Hillary would ever lie to us.

It sounds like a woketard.

Science is based on what we "know".

For example: We know Joe Biden is not fit to be President of the United States. We know this because he falls repeatedly, he mumbles incoherently in public, and impeachment for dereliction of duty on our southern borders is imminent.

David Brooks laments the changes in American conservatism:

Quote

What passes for “conservatism” now, however, is nearly the opposite of the Burkean conservatism I encountered then. Today, what passes for the worldview of “the right” is a set of resentful animosities, a partisan attachment to Donald Trump or Tucker Carlson, a sort of mental brutalism. The rich philosophical perspective that dazzled me then has been reduced to Fox News and voter suppression.

and has this to say about Trump:

Quote

donald trump is the near-opposite of the Burkean conservatism I’ve described here. How did a movement built on sympathy and wisdom lead to a man who possesses neither? How did a movement that put such importance on the moral formation of the individual end up elevating an unashamed moral degenerate? How did a movement built on an image of society as a complex organism give rise to the simplistic dichotomies of manipulative populism? How did a movement based on respect for the wisdom of the past end up with Trump’s authoritarian campaign boast “I alone can fix it,” perhaps the least conservative sentence it is possible to utter?
