One of the things that really surprised me about covid back at the beginning was how the Dems, and leftists in general, went from not really talking about covid that much, and from saying things like Trudeau's "Covid won't really affect Canadians all that much", Pelosi's public hugathon, and DeBlasio saying "Ride the subway like normal", to suddenly spazzing out at the mention of HCQ. 

I've said many times that it was like someone kicked a beehive, but I didn't really understand how they got everyone in the public so revved about HCQ. It wasn't a controversial drug, it was a drug that was almost perfectly safe for 60 years. Doctors prescribed it without talking about adverse side effects because they were trivial and you literally had to take it for more than 5 years straight to run into any possible meaningful issues. 

But the public outcry was massive. "IT KILLS PEOPLE! IT MAKES PEOPLE BLIND! IT'S THE DUMBEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD OF!!!! TRUMP IS ONLY SAYING IT BECAUSE HE PLANS TO PROFIT MASSIVELY FROM THE SALE OF HCQ!!" A super hasty study was published in The Lancet and NEJoM, and HCQ went down in flames so fast that it made the Hindenburg look like a smouldering match in an ashtray. Then the Lancet and NEJoM had to pull their study "because some participants wanted to remain anonymous" or some crap like that... Complete BS.
