For how long that was going to last is up for debate. The Royal Navy was very aggressive in taking down any remaining slave ships to the Americas by 1860. It can be clearly seen by reading the resolutions the State legislatures passed in deciding to join the Confederacy. There has been 150 years of revisionist history writing trying to make the Confederacy and its leaders seem noble, and trying to make slavery seem benevolent and kind. It’s all lies. Slavery was incredibly cruel and evil and it was the sole reason why the South fought the Civil War. Of course slavery was cruel and evil but whites were not the only participants in it. There is always more blame laid on the West for slavery but the left seems to forget the enormous effort of those who fought so hard to end the practice. The British and Americans(mostly Republicans). 1 Quote "Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it." Thomas Sowell

The slaver ship Clotilda was the last US registered ship to transport slaves to America...that was in 1860 as I mentioned earlier. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_slave_ships Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

Of all the ways someone can make a living, how can they choose that… and then think of themselves as Christian? Unbelievable. Quote @reason10: “Hitler had very little to do with the Holocaust.”

I'm on the side that would leave those statues up and actually let people learn about the real history of the person or persons. The bad and the good. I totally disagree that everyone that wants a statue of Robert E. Lee to remain standing can be automatically categorized as a wicked white supremacist either. Given the clear evidence of what statues have been removed/vandalized by woke mobs it's obvious that they have little knowledge of history. They seem pretty weak minded if they can be such obvious useful idiots. Clueless Protesters Demonstrate Horrible Grasp on History by Defacing Statue of Abolitionist (westernjournal.com) How about the fact that there were also slave owners in the US that happened to be black? It must be pointed out that the slave trade in Africa depended on heavily on blacks willfully selling other blacks into slavery. And we should take down any statues honoring black slavers or slave orders or Confederates, or at least move them from places of honor in front of courthouses and into the corners of museums somewhere.
