A self-described socialist against Wokism ?  "True socialism seeks the greatest good for all" Whoa, he is old school.

Well, not surprising to me as most old-school socialists I know are at least suspicious of wokism.

What a world where a billionaire can proclaim himself a socialist on Twitter and the guy who doesn't think others know how to think accepts it without critique.

Did you notice in the sentence following that one he proclaimed Marx a capitalist? If you believe any of that the words socialist and capitalist have no meaning.

A reply to Musk's Tweet noticed, "The best way to convince people you’re a socialist is to sound exactly like Ayn Rand."

I'll happily  give credit to a self described socialist when he or she says something that makes sense?

He actually said some things about climate change in that same article that are sure to enrage the alarmists.

I don't see anything enraging in there... I think that the economic impact of climate change has been established at single digits of GDP so hard to see what they could complain about...

Why would I care if it's true or not.  If the poster who quoted him cares, he can challenge it.  Why do you want to charge into that conversation and wipe up ?

People on this site flip their shit and call Trudeau a Communist every time he bats his eyes, so I'm checking...

So far we have Ironstone willing to fall into socialism - how about you ?

He did challenge it.  Here ya go. This should help.

Elon Musk Dragged Hard After Saying He’s a ‘Socialist’ – and Marx Was a Capitalist

Didn't understand the Ayn Rand crack, eh. Google might be able to explain to you why talking like Ayn Rand wouldn't make you a socialist.

As to whether you care or not. I don't care.

No, I mean the poster can challenge me.

What I'm at odds with is people who overstate, make ridiculous claims and generally wreck the forum with stupid statements.

Believe it or not when I joined this forum over 18 years ago there were as many left-posters doing this as right ones...

This talk of "right" and "left"...I think its false. In the "right/left" political scenario, neither ever meet at a point of perfection or a point of destruction. They most certainly do meet. Fascism and Communism produce the same results. Oppression, poverty and eventually...violence. I think the following well know picture exemplifies what I mean.

snake_eating_its_own_tail_poster-r305cdc

This is the real "political spectrum". Depending on your outlook, the snakehead belongs either on top or on bottom. I'd prefer it on the bottom myself. I find wanton destruction...objectionable.

As for "The Woke"...I'd place them near the snakehead. Very near. They are wildly destructive to society and culture. Unfortunately The presidency of Donald J Trump opened the doors to a public flight to wokeism in the name of HATRED.

And really...that's all anyone needs to know about "The Woke".

I guess if you don't like ideas, you can ban them like the governor of Florida does.

Pretty ironic stuff.

I think more the question is, 'Should kids be taught that they are either one of the oppressors, or one of the oppressed, and should that distinction, false as it is, be driven directly at skin colour?'

Ideas are ideas. Free speech too...just a verbal expression of ideas. None need be banned. Some need be regulated for appropriateness. Others need be examined with a critical eye. I have a feeling you already know this though...

and ignore it. Interesting...

Well, we can only guess the specifics of what Mike is talking about, but it's understandable, I guess. If he told us we could tell him why it's BS.

I think he might be talking about this one:

Quote

The Senate Education Committee in Florida approved SB 1834, which critics have dubbed the "don’t say 'gay' bill," which says schools "may not encourage discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students."

That anybody feels there's a need for a bill like that tells you they're most likely right.

You can 'scream fire in a crowded building' so to speak, when there actually is a fire in a crowded building, so to speak.

What the woke want to do to kids is the fire STS. So says the electorate of Florida and its representatives.

Oh so you're saying you do want little pre-school kids trained in woke pervert sex.

I'm just hoping it's not you playing teacher when you're imagining this.

See this is why there needs to be a law against it.

So you are not against banning speech, as long as you set the terms.  Very democratic...

Gawd ur so full of it.

Answer my question.

'Should kids be taught that they are either one of the oppressors, or one of the oppressed, and should that distinction, false as it is, be driven directly at skin colour?'

And while we're at it...

'Should kids be exposed to any sexual behaviour instruction in elementary schools?'

Now...go ahead.

I don't think so, but I am pretty sure that you will define the reality in a deviant way.

Why would I? You just made the point for me. All this arguing over "banning speech" has been for what purpose?
