Spread it faster to get it over with.     Does Canada even have a Sunbelt ?

That's the policy?

Someone better tell the Governor of Texas.

“There is a massive outbreak of COVID-19 across the state of Texas,” Abbott, who was among the most aggressive governors on re-opening, said during an interview with KFDA TV.

“The numbers are moving in the wrong direction,” Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said during a media briefing.

Houston police and fire departments will step up monitoring of taverns and clubs to ensure compliance with occupancy limits and mask requirements.

“We want to really crack down on people who are not adhering to the rules,” Turner said. “We want to create a board of shame for those who are violating the rules.”

Yes, that's the policy, same as Canada's policy of killing grandmas and grandpas in LTCs.

That was never the policy. They brought in the Military to assist.

Deflecting to the Canadian blindspot from early in the outbreak doesn't negate the current dire situation in the US's three most populous states.

If letting the virus spread is the policy, then why is the Texas Governor telling people to stay home?

Perhaps to Flatten the Curve? I've heard that before, haven't I?

Too little...too late.   It was the effective policy in Canada after decades of neglect and poor oversight.

That's right...better get use to it...and work on cardio fitness !

Exactly.  People may not understand, but you if eat right, and exercise, your immune system will be strong, and you'll have little to worry about.  But our society has more obese people living than ever before.  More people with serious underlying health conditions than ever before.  And more people living past 65 than ever before.  When you add that all up, you get people dying.

Or New York, even worse.  But Gov. Cuomo, gets a pass.  It must be nice having a brother that works at CNN!

Parroting the Bill Maher line. That's cool.

But when you say "isolate the vulnerable", I suspect you also mean people with a certain BMI as well as people of a certain age.

New York was, perhaps, the worst hit place in the world. Mostly due to travel.

But they've flattened the curve. For a good month and a half now, actually.

Cuomo forced sick people into nursing homes....brilliant !

New York was not the worst in the world...except when facts don't mater.

New York's Deaths per million is Twice any other country. And their cases per million is more than three 3 times the US average.

21,000 cases per million. Italy has just under 4,000.

The only country with a worse case/million is Qatar.

New York is not a country.    Canada has far more deaths than California...see how that game works ?

So what's the point there? My point is that New York was probably one of, if not the worst places hit in the world. How is that controversial?

I had thought California had dealt with the disease very well.

Here's a good article about where the spikes are coming from.

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-06-24/4-suburban-california-counties-behind-dangerous-spike-in-covid-19-hospitalizations

SAN FRANCISCO —

Four suburban Southern California counties are among those primarily responsible for a dangerous rise in California’s coronavirus hospitalizations, according to a Los Angeles Times data analysis. The four counties have seen significant upticks in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in recent weeks.

Increases in Ventura, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties have contributed to an overall rise in hospitalizations recorded statewide that began after Memorial Day, just as officials were rapidly reopening the economy.

I had thought California had dealt with the disease very well. I'm actually not sure why they see spiking cases now. Perhaps it's from interstate travel.

New York was just one of many places around the world that was "hit"....and the "hits" continue around the world.

Yes, but places like New York, Spain, Italy. AND! Ontario and Quebec present the playbook on how to get the virus under control.

Putting your head in the sand and blame the numbers on testing is not helpful.

Doesn't matter....it's easy to claim control now after huge spikes early on in Ontario...Quebec...or New York.

Other places will have their own rates, curves, and timelines.

Snowbirds don't go to Ontario, Quebec, or New York.

You really think getting the virus under control just happens? The shutdowns and Social Distancing guidelines had to happen first.

Perhaps, if they start taking the virus seriously. You know that Blindspot the Texas Gov is talking about.
