Doug Ford - leader of Ontario PCs

I want to throw this one on the pile from a Guardian correspondent. Not sure where he's working out of, but he seems to be bang on in his assessment of Doug Ford and conservative populism:

A surging NDP can defeat Canada’s Trump – whose folksy act is a front for an assault on working people and the environment

And socialist/communist NDP Horwath wants to declare and celebrate in Ontario an Islamic heritage month to be recognized in October of every year. It's endless with these liberals/communists because all they seem to want to do is kiss minority azz. I am still waiting for a Caucasian British/European Heritage and history month in Canada. But at the rate Caucasians are going there may not be that many Caucasians left in Canada to be able to celebrate a white heritage and history month in the future. Blacks, East Indians, Asians, Native Indians, gays,  and maybe soon Muslims, will all have their heritage and history recognized in Canada but Caucasian Canadians are not allowed too celebrate their history and heritage.

In the news today Horwath was trying to cover up for a member of her cabinet if elected where it was reported that this person said something anti-semetic in their past. The CBC is not pushing this story much but you know that if one of Ford's people said something anti-semetic in their past the chit would hit the fan. That person would be told to leave the conservative party. The lying left wing lieberal media will be doing whatever they can to try and make Ford look like he will be bad news for Ontario if elected. It will surely be bad news for the liberal/socialists though if Ford is elected as premier of Ontario. All their liberal/socialist agendas and programs will now be in peril of surviving. Whoopee. :D

Trump has raised taxes, not cut them.  He cut them for billion dollar corporations and raised them on the middle class, the rich and the poor.  Unemployment was falling before he even entered office, he inherited a good economy, it will take him 1-2 years to destroy it.

So why should we vote for Ford if we have no clue what he will do since by your own admission he is lying.

The cons are incompetent and usually on drugs or like harris, ford, etc.  They sell off public assets for pennies on the dollar, and run up high debt, while INCREASING taxes.  Their goal is usually complete destruction of the middle class.  Their goal is to turn Canada into fascist states in latin America with no rights.

Bulgaria is considered right wing and fascist.

Where and how did Trump raise taxes on the working people? Did you not read what I said? Many companies were able to give their employees a thousand dollars in bonus money because of Trump cutting taxes. Trump was responsible for that. Unemployment is dropping because since Trump became president millions of jobs have been created. It was Obama was responsible for the high unemployment rate in America and of the destruction of the middle class. The middle class were starting to disappear under the Obama regime. Thanks to Trump unemployment for blacks and Latinos has dropped since Trump became president.

So, why not vote for Ford? Can he do any worse than what Wynne has done to Ontario? Horwath will even be worse than Wynne if she becomes the premier of Ontario. I say give the guy a chance and let's see what he can do. Where did I say that Ford is lying?

What? Wynne has run up a bigger debt for Ontario. She also has raised plenty of taxes while in office. The middle class has been dying under the present day liberal regimes in Ontario and Canada that have been running and ruining this country for the past few years. Canada is well on it's way to becoming a socialist third world hell hole. That is just as bad as fascism is.

At least Iceland is not a right wing or fascist state. The government is there for it's people. Bulgaria is not.

The Liberals have been desperate from the start - but I don't see any choice for them but to try in any way they can to mitigate their losses......and that means trying to get SOME votes back from the NDP. I have no idea how they'll do it but they've proven that nothing - absolutely nothing, is beneath them. Fasten your seat belts.

If the liberals can take a lot of support and votes away from the NDP that would work out well for Ford. Ontario will be free at last from liberal/socialist dictators. :D

That is because here in Canada as you already know does not have a leader like Trump. We only have a pro diversity feminist as a leader in Canada. The Canadian media needs Trump to give them something to talk about. They cannot go thru one daily news broadcast without bringing up the name of Trump. Bloody sad.

You guys need to get out more and visit other small (by population) countries beside larger ones with the same language e.g. Ireland. There’s the same anxiety of influence as here, and the same mixing of national debates. It’s about numbers.

Which illustrates the problem of FPTP. Ford can win by splitting the vote. In a straight run-off against the NDP he would lose at this point.

The candidate shared a Hitler quote:

https://globalnews.ca/news/4230225/ontario-pc-party-ndp-announcement/

which was foolish even though the quote itself would have been innocuous from anybody else. With social media, though, people are going to get caught with this kind of thing all the time from now on. If anti-Semitism is considered to include support for BDS or any criticism of Israel whatsoever, there are probably more NDP candidates who could be in for a tough time.

I've tried to remind a frequent conservative poster here that it was Conservative or....at least a string of PC governments in the past who set the course for Ontario Hydro, first by prioritizing nuclear sinkholes (with a couple of coal-fired stations) and then coming up with this wonderful privatization idea that created Hydro One and was supposed to get the province out of debt. But that frequent flyer considers everything that happened more than five years ago THE PAST...so I don't bother anymore!

Maybe you should get your calendar adjusted. Harris was 15 years ago, and according to the AG it's the policies of the Liberals which have caused Ontarions to have to spend many tens of billions extra in electricity costs.

She's whoring out Ontario's future to pay for things today. Your folks constant preach about PC is precisely why society has gone to shit. Take a look at Peterson's comments in the latest PC Munk debate. You folks instantly jump to beliefs I'm referring to a single mom as a whore, when you don't take into any account that maybe there's more to the picture here, or ask "why did you call her a whore?"

FFS. And no, I'm not a Ford supporter, in fact I despise Ford and I had SERIOUS problems when he won the PC nomination.

You seemed rather PC to me when you were expressing how disgusted you were with her for standing by a candidate who was not politically correct. But when did society go to shit? I must have missed that.

The fact that you have framed that NDP candidate as someone that is only just not being politically correct means that it's pointless for me to continue a discussion with you. There's not much more heinous things you can say in life, let alone being a candidate for public service as one that degrades our military that badly and uses memes with Hitler in them.

Except that war crimes actually were committed.  There's really nothing more useless than a person who gets all flakey when faced with reality.  That's what makes a society go to shit.

Society in Canada went for a shit back in 1980 when papa Trudeau won the election in that year. Ever since then Canada has been pretty much owned and operated by the lieberals and allowed to run and ruin this once great WASP country. And yet what did the dummies do in the last election? They voted for his pro diversity/feminist kid and put him into power to continue on with his old mans legacy of how to destroy a country in one decade. Oh the joy of it all.

Opening statements:

Ford - plan, plan, pla...cut off

Horwath - change, change, change

Wynne - I’m not sorry, look at my record, no really, look at it. Isn’t it wonderful?

Are you some kind of masochist? There's no way I want to watch any of them say one damned things except "BYE! I'M LEAVING FOREVER!"

Tried to listen to the whole thing, a dreary litany of heckling and half sentences, Horwath being a particularly annoying offender. Microphones should be turned off when persistent interruptions happen. Ford probably impressed the hardcore loyalists but failed to extend his appeal to right-wing Libs. I thought Wynne came across better than the other two, not that it matters for her now.

Imagine if they all interrupted the introductions to say "We met backstage and decided that we're all resigning for the good of the province"

I'd be more impressed if they said "we've all agreed official and especially unofficial secrecy is the bane of our country's existence and have decided to outlaw in-camera lobbying."

I don’t think Ford supporters can see how repulsive he is to many other voters. He’s that ignorant loudmouth in the bar who won’t shut up. The thought of having to listen to him for an extended period of years is too awful to contemplate.

I think there's enough fiscally responsible Liberals and swing voters who can hold their nose and vote for Ford. With Trudeau's unending deficits and accumulating debt putting fiscal responsibility in the spotlight, it's a watershed moment for fiscal sanity. Ford is the only one who is committed to getting to a balanced budget in his first term. To those who actually care about the future, it's perfectly clear that an NDP government would send us into a vicious cycle of deficits and more debt - followed by the inevitable downgraded credit rating creating more deficits and debt. And guess what comes along next? Another Mike Harris to clean up the mess - because the only sure thing about large deficits and massive debt is that one day the bill has to be paid......and it's paid with huge layoffs, cuts in services and increased taxes.

Too funny. Horwath was at an event this morning. A Liberal, the riding incumbent, showed up with his election sign and with a couple of supporters. He heckled Horwath. She said to him "Don't interrupt me, it's very rude."  Now, if you listened to the debate you would know that she constantly interrupted the other two leaders. So for Horwath, it's rude to interrupt her. But if she's the one doing the interrupting, it's OK.
