Yes, this is good news. But remember, this is the first time the National Front made it to the final round. And only a few years ago it would have been unthinkable they would make it so far. She also got 34.4% of the vote, which is not that far below what winning political parties get in Canada. And they now go into parliamentary elections where there will not be just two candidates on the ballots. Also remember that Macron represented something new and different himself, the first presidential candidate in the final round not from one of the established parties. That allowed him to escape the kind of anger the population had for the old line parties.

France has just committed national and cultural genocide.

Macron has declared that French culture does not exist and has never seen French art...   really....   he is anti Jewish and anti west.....   goodbye France.

Wrong. Le Pen's father made the final round in 2002.

Anyway, this is good news (for France) since Macron wants to implement much needed economic reforms to make France more competitive. I wish we could replace Trudeau or Wynne with Macron.

Then maybe that's why he chose The Louvre for his victory speech.

Maybe, but when he said about not seeing French Art he was just spitting on French cultur/nationality, as he is now.

I see, so he runs for president of a culture/nationality he wants to spit on, and then celebrates his win at one of the nations most famous cultural icons. Got it.

I don't know that they did...and neither do you!  I will assess the situation (as many people will) in about a year or so.

Lepin would have taken France out of the EU and likely bankrupted the country.

The outcome will likely disappoint Trump and Putin. There seems to be some evidence "somebody" was hacking Macron. Hmm, I wonder who could have done that.

It seems no one has been able to find any legitimate dirt in these leaks. Hopefully people will get pissed off at foreign governments messing with their elections and these hacks well end up having the opposite of their intended effect.

Macron is not anti Jewish. In fact, antisemites have attacked HIM.

Seriously.

What's up with this crap?

At least post some links to the National Enquirer articles.

12% voted blank or spoiled their ballots. Unsurprising really as none of the candidates this year deserved to win.

How can politicians these days be of such sub-standard quality?
