Tourism In Europe

Europe is still safe compared to places like gangland-Chicago or similar neighbourhoods in Detroit. Please come and visit our continent! We need your money!

Certain neighbourhoods is the operative term.  A person can go to Chicago or Detroit and feel pretty safe provided they don't go into black neighbourhoods.  The problem is; the terrorists aren't tied to a certain neighbourhood, they're targeting places vacationers will go or transit services they'll use.

Besides, if the best argument is to compare Europe to the worst neighbourhoods in Chicago or Detroit, you must know the argument isn't going your way.

Some cities in the EU can only dream of the increasing visitor traffic to Chicago, now over 50 million per year and increasing.

France has the highest international tourist traffic, about 12% higher than the US which is second.  There was growth in 2015, but I haven't been able to find overall 2016 numbers yet. There was a decrease in Paris in the first half of 2016 and I haven't see the figures for the rest of the year, but it is important to note that there are many destinations in France for international tourists and while Paris is a major one it is also avoided by many as well. I visited France a couple of dozen times, and only once did I go to Paris. The French Riviera attracts a huge international crowd, and certainly on my wish list that I haven't made yet.

Don't forget that 54 million is not international traffic, but yes Chicago is a major tourist destination. It is also on my wish list. Other than spending too many hours at O'Hare, the closest I've gotten to Chicago is the I-294 (perhaps once on the I-90 during off-peak hours).

Call it hysterical, or over-reaction - the reality remains the same.

Tourism is down in those hot spots!

You're the one being hysterical when you start bringing up "hell holes" we created.  We're not talking about hell holes we created (or not).  TAKE A DEEP BREATH , AND GET A GRIP!  For goodness sakes.  If this were a disaster movie, this is the part where you get slapped for being so hysterical.

Who is hysterical? Look at your typing. Slap me? Keep it together betsy.

I never said people are not irrationally scared. I know they are. This forum is a good example of people who are irrationally hysterical.

Put your energy to better use.

France is not a city, and Paris comes in second when compared to London.

Read and understand what you're reading, Marcus.

Take a deep breath. Now, you're hyperventilating to boot. Definitely, you're in hysterical-mode.
