California regulates cow farts

Not so fast.

If we all become vegetarians.....the same alleged problem will only get worse!  Vegetables causes flatulence!

Cows are one of the most inefficient ways of producing protein that exist. And their farts are clogging the air while their fat is clogging our arteries. We'd be better off chopping the heads off more of your chicken little's.

I don't think so. I think cow physiology is different from ours.  But I don't know that for sure.

Cows are ruminants, so yes they are very different from us in digesting their food. The diet the cow is fed also has a lot to do with their methane production, as I mentioned above. Finally it is their addition to the food chain that really is responsible for the increases (methane, C02, etc.).

There's too many damn people on this planet.

Wayyyyyyy too many. More than double since my birth...and many our births.

Cows are only responsible for a fraction of the methane added to the atmosphere. Rice cultivation is almost as big a contributor so switching to vegies won't necessarily help.

Yes, a lot of rice production causes a lot of methane production and solutions need to be adopted there as well. A good example of a solution would be instead of the traditional flooded rice paddies used in many places, farmers could switch to the method used in the Sichuan province of China where they have raised beds and flood the furrows. Another method is to regularly flood and dry out the paddies so as not to give the methane production a chance to build up. It is not only cattle farmers that need to make changes, agriculture in general is a huge contributor to green house gases.

At some point people will have to accept that the huge population of humans will impact the planet and there is not much we can do about it other than adapt. In 1890s cars were hailed as the clean alternative to horses which produced tonnes of manure much like EVs are touted today. EVs will end up causing just as much havok in different ways.

You were saying if everyone else is willing, you'd also be willing to stop eating meat.......what were you thinking of eating in lieu of meat?

Ahhhh. So you're going to ignore all the clips I gave you........bBut you're still going to justify your silly position.

Now, it's about fat, clogging our arteries.

It's about control, really.   What else is new?

See?  It didn't take long for the true colors of liberals to come out.  They're control freaks!

. Who's talking about inefficient?  You don't dictate what people should eat, or not eat.

I think Liberals digestive system works about the same as everyone elses. Or do you have a clip that refutes that? Try Breitbart maybe.

In the Trump era, people will be proud of their ignorance and mock and bully those who take any time to learn anything.

Too bad that Obama and Hillary didn't take the time to learn and know the facts. What the Trump people will be showing the non-Trump people is how foolish they have been led by the nose by a bunch of ridiculous politicians who are concerned about how to regulate cow farts. The thought of those politicians in California wanting to come up with a plan on how to reduce cow farts is so bloody ridiculous. That king of thinking needs to be left only as skits on SNL or some other silly butt shows like that. Cow farts?  Seriously?

Some people will listen too and believe anything some politicians will tell them even if it does sound beyond silly. Allowing more illegal migrants into California is more of a threat to the environment rather than cow farts. This is just one big chuckle to me. :D

Hahahahaha

I mean........what an insane world we live in!

It's hilarious.....except for the fact that it's the loonies who are running the show!

And what is sad about it all is that there are people out there who will listen too those ridiculous politicians who come up with this stuff and will believe such nonsense. What about the billions of people on earth where probably at least once if not three times a day who have a good fart? Farts are a part of nature, and no doubt the body does it for a reason.

Try holding your farts in if you think that it will do harm to the environment. That won't last long. As the old saying goes "wherever you may be let your farts go free".   :D

Nothing like a good porter house steak now and then. I say leave the cows alone with their farts, it's natures way of relieving a slight gas problem in the tummy, and let the politicians involve themselves with other more important issues concerning people their priority rather than with what cows release from their butts

Is it possible to run a country without politicians?  Seriously?

The question is how will we adapt? Reducing consumption/emissions is a way of adapting.

I agree that population is at the root of the problem, but I don't know how that is addressed. Long ago draught, famine, disease, and war kept things in check. Today it is the advanced countries, the ones that solved those issues (ie. got rid of the balancing factors), that are the biggest consumers and emitters. It sound like the best solution is to get rid of the advanced societies as it will reduce more per person, and help restore the natural order of things. Who's in with me on the movie script?

Reducing emissions for the sake of reducing emissions is the opposite of adaption. It is wasting resources on things that may not make any difference.

Adaptation is something humans are good at. It happens gradually, as needed, based on local priorities. The best way to prepare for adaption is to ensure the economy continues to be productive and generates excess wealth. Artificially increasing energy prices undermines that objective. Global agreements on CO2 reduction targets are even worse because it means resources are misdirected into pretending to reduce emissions in order to meet arbitrary targets.

The kind of adaption you are thinking about is better suited to frogs.

Human are one of few species that has to adapted to almost every climate one can find on the planet. The range of plausible changes in climate is less than the range of climates that we have already adapted to. More importantly, reducing GHGs for the sake reducing GHGs is futile and will make no difference in the long run because we are going to have to adapt whether you like it or not. The less we spend on pointless feel-good exercises the more we have to spend on adaptation.

Ha-ha-ha-ha  That saying can only go so far!  They'll come up with toot-capping!

What stuffs can really compensate for meat when it comes to protein???

With environmentalists, being "full of beans" takes on a whole new meaning.

The liberals/socialists have long been complaining how only 10 percent of the population have all the riches!  Now, they want to add to their complaints!

Like as if the Gores, and the DiCaprios, and the Clooneys, and the Soros, and the Obamas........are going to stop eating steaks for the sake of the planet!  How many huge, huge houses and cars do these people have?

Only the "little people" are expected to follow what they're told!

If meat will be forbidden to the public - it'll be naive to think the same rules will apply to the elite!
