rotary
That's Trudeau's opinion, and just like he says, most Americans don't know who he is, and don't care that they don't know. If Canadians want to intently watch American politics and culture, that's their choice....doesn't mean more Americans have to reciprocate. That's why we have the CIA, NSA, Google, YouTube, Twitter, etc. Canadians also love to use these. Not caring about what you don't know is the problem we are speaking of. Maintaining that attitude simply prolongs the issue. I suspect after the nice dinner at the WH our new PM is much better known by Americans. ReeferMadness
My reaction to American politics is the feeling that no matter what my feelings are towards Mr. Trump, win or lose, if the candidate with the most votes wins, that is a victory for democracy. That's a lovely platitude.

Another man named Trudeau is much better known because of late night infomercials on American broadcast and cable television. He is serving 10 years for fraud. ReeferMadness
The pissed-off - Another "scorched earth" approach, only this time, at the entire political process. (Fair notice - I'm a borderline member of this) We hope for 1 of 3 things: Complete implosion of both major parties; finally seeing cooperation among both major parties as they try to oust Trump; total rioting and anarchy among the people that could normally care less, rebelling against Trump. Be careful what you wish for. If you think things couldn't be any worse, you'll find out they actually could be. Much worse.
Queenmandy85
That's a lovely platitude. It is paraphrasing something General MacArthur said while he was in charge of post - war Japan. He over saw the first free elections in Japan and there were complaints that a Tokyo prostitute had won a seat. All he said was "How many votes did she get?" There's your answer. Should Trump become President, it would be because it is the will of the American people. As a Canadian, my concern would be, will he invade Canada? I believe it would be highly unlikely, but that is all. If he ended NAFTA, I'm undecided if that would be good or bad for Canada. Moonlight Graham
'talking heads' are lately suggesting Sanders will prevail in the 'swing west'... notwithstanding in an assortment of polls, in a head-to-head match-up, Sanders would 'trounce' Trump (doing even better than Clinton would against Trump): ---SNIP--- Those numbers are pretty irrelevant though, since popular vote is meaningless. The POTUS elections always come down to a small number of swing states, like Florida and Ohio. August1991
*sigh* yep, and yep to the rest. As a transplant from New York City, I'll give you a taste of what I go through living in the good ol' southwestern USA. .... As someone who is not Barbra Streisand and is not even a transplant from NYC, I have a different viewpoint. ==== IME, many American leftists are well-meaning, but naive. Far too many Americans are "leftists" because they want to denounce their own country - and they declare themselves to be leftist/socialist/communist/liberal to show that they oppose "America". They're not really communist/socialist/leftist. IMHO, they're just being American. Edited March 24, 2016 by August1991
