Smallc Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 I'm glad to see you have changed what his actual response was. Oh my goodness, you read way too far into things. It's clear he meant picking a favourite baltic state isn't a thing. There's no other way to see it. Quote
overthere Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Clinton liked him a lot. Bush, not so much. None of them were on the level of actual friends that Mulroney was with Reagan. Mulroney was a eulogist at Reagans funeral, one of only four asked by his widow. It doesn't matter if Obama and Trdueau are pals anyway, Obama will not be able to do anything for Trdueau or Canada in the remaining months he has in office. Other than buy dinner. He has no skin in the game anymore. Obama made it plain with the rejection of Keystone XL where his priorities lie, and it is not in helping Canada. His actions were made under the cover of .... what... enivironmentalism, but in the promotion of US oil exports which are now ramping up. No Canuck oil in those tankers leaving Gulf refineries- except of coruse for US oil being sold to Canada. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!

I'd compare it to the Clinton Chretien relationship, where they'd sneak away from their delegations for private friendly talks. Quote
The_Squid Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) So yes....being the the PM of Canada and NOT knowing what the Baltics are is in fact a gaffe. Wow... you are really reaching here... And I'm pretty sure this is the thread drift that the Mod was talking about, although I do think the Mods should be a little more explicit about which posts they mean are thread drift when they make such an announcement. The topic is "update... Harper" Edited March 14, 2016 by The_Squid Quote

There's no other way to see it. No other way? Is that why those politicians from the Baltic states posted that video? Keep digging Smallc....you almost have a hole big enough to bury this gaffe Quote
Smallc Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 No other way? Is that why those politicians from the Baltic states posted that video? Keep digging Smallc I don't have to dig. It's clearly not a gaffe. We are off topic though, and have been warned, so I'll stop. Quote

The topic is "update... Harper" I made a factual point about Trudeau's gaffe on this but hey if you want to hide behind thread drift instead of acknowledging it as a gaffe then go right ahead. Of course, please show me one thread about Trudeau that doesn't discuss Harper! Quote
PIK Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 I wonder if harper has received more calls then Trudeau from world leaders for advice, since the election. Because no one will be calling Trudeau, unless it is for a snow boarding lesson. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

PIK Posted March 16, 2016 Report Posted March 16, 2016 (edited) What did that meeting do for anybody. It did nothing. Everybody agreed to nothing. It was another waste of time so the élites can all hang together and pat each other on the back. Trudeaus plan is no different then harpers.. Smallc Posted March 16, 2016 Report Posted March 16, 2016 Yaaa right. Those things didn't happen? Quote
PIK Posted March 16, 2016 Report Posted March 16, 2016 Those things could have been handled over the phone. How many of these meetings have we had over the decades and how much did it ever accomplish, not much by the looks of things. And the fact trudeau took over the largest group of people, twice as large as America. It was one big elite party / photo op. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
SpankyMcFarland Posted March 26, 2016 Report Posted March 26, 2016 Who on the 'right' ever described JT as evil? Most believe him a flighty, dilettante pretty boy with little concept of reality, but that's about it. That's why he lost the election badly. Quote
Topaz Posted April 11, 2016 Author Report Posted April 11, 2016 Today, its being reported that Harper has been in the US giving advice to the Republican party and to chat with the Jewish society members. and there is a big Conservative party coming up in May. http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/harper-reportedly-gives-tips-to-top-republican-donors/ar-BBrCJoG?li=AAggNb9&ocid=SK2MDHP Quote
PIK Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I would take him back to lead the party against trudeau . Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

PIK Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 If harper is still a MP, and the conservatives win, I wonder if he would get a cabinet post. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

?Impact Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Harper has been in the US giving advice to the Republican party Lots of replies to the original topic, but this appears to be the only one that was actually on topic. It also seems to be an appropriate topic for Harper. He did manage to unite a fractured party, but unfortunately he fractured a united country. Quote
PIK Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 Not as fractured as it will be in 4 yrs. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

Big Guy Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 Well, there is an opening coming up for Secretary General of the UN and the panel is currently interviewing potential candidates. Harper is available as is Obama but I wouldn't bet on Harper.
