Nice spin...  That election had a recount that made its way through the courts.  As soon as the results were official, Gore conceded.

Funny how bush_cheney says Gore lost before the votes were counted.

Then why can't he rant and rave just like Al Gore did ?

Excluding Florida, Bush had 246 electoral votes and Gore had 266. The exit polls in Florida were in Gore's favour and all the pundits declared him the winner. Early results in the counting reversed that and Bush was declared the winner. Throughout the night as other counties results came in the lead narrowed considerably so the pundits retracted their pronouncement. There was an automatic machine recount and Bush ended up taking Florida by a margin of 300 votes. Gore requested a hand recount in a few counties (remember all the controversy about the machine failures and chaff?).

Note that because of the way the electoral college works, even in the end Gore with well over a half million more votes nationwide had to concede to Bush because he happened to have about a thousand more votes in Florida.

The big difference is however this all happened after the election, not weeks before from the loser Trump who is way behind by many orders of magnitude in all metrics.

Gore lost when he didn't even win his home state.    But he still refused to concede the election after Florida recounts were done.

Supreme Court put an end to his whining.    Why can't Trump whine too ?

It's curious that he would be compelled to lie and say he has never met Putin. He has on numerous occasions. He's even bragged about it.

But I guess if his only defence is "No, you're the puppet!"

He said he didn't know Putin!  Why do you people pull this shit?

In your tradition of stating the obvious, Gore lost when all the votes were counted and the electoral college pledged their votes.

A distinction without a difference.   Trump is just affirming his position...same as Gore and Kerry did.   Why the double standard ?

Trump is losing by 9%. Gore won by 0.5% but lost Florida by less than 0.01%. It is weeks before the election and Trump is whining.

Trump will not lose by 9% in all states.....he can whine all he wants just as Gore (Florida) and Kerry (Ohio) did.

True enough, he is losing by over 30% in some states and 62% in D.C.

In 2004, John Kerry lost Ohio to George Bush by about 120,000 votes...he still refused to concede until pressured to do so.

Not quite, the Supreme court overruled a recount that the Florida Supreme Court had ordered. Gore did not claim the election was rigged, he disputed the count in one state. Certainly it would be any candidates right to do the same thing in a close vote.

Trump may be saying he will honour the result now and maybe he will but that is not what he said during the debate. He and his handlers had to know this was one question he was sure to be asked yet he was so poorly prepared it seemed to come as a surprise to him. This is a guy who ignores advice and shoots from the hip. Just the kind of guy you want as President.

Yes, I suppose technically no one can really know anyone. Why do you people like to weasel around with semantic arguments when you want to avoid the truth?

Trump is just doing what he has done from the very beginning.....drive the attention and media cycle with a focus on his "outrageous" comments.   I don't want either of these "deplorable" candidates as president, but I only get one vote.

b.t.w. It was not the Democrats that demanded a recount in Ohio, it was the Greens and Libertarians. Don't forget the whole controversy of the president of the voting machine manufacturer writing a letter to Bush saying he would deliver the votes in Ohio.

The election & count hasn't happened yet.

That's not semantics.  WTF!  "Know one can really know anyone".  That's utter bull!

You people relish in calling him a liar for stuff like this, but clearly either lack reading comprehension, common sense skills or are genuinely dishonest.

Not all the votes had been counted, there were still more provisional ballots than the lead Bush had. As soon as it was clear that Bush had won, Kerry conceded. That was the morning after the election, you are making a mountain out of nothing.

'You people'?

Trump is a liar for the many, many, many lies he tells each and every single day.

The "mountain" is one of consistency, something that seems to have gone missing this time around.    Oh well, keep watching from across the border....we'll figure it out somehow and get a new president for ogling.

Never in the 240 year history of the US has a Presidential candidate (at least from the major parties, I don't know what other quacks are saying) made such vast and unsubstantiated allegations about the democratic process. This only exemplifies that Trump belongs with the quacks, and demonstrates what a sad state of affairs exists in the once great Republican party.

I agree...you don't know, and such grand statements are irrelevant given the most recent history for U.S. elections (President, House, Senate, state & local elections).

I'm not going to call you a liar. I will just correct you and point out that Trump said he had never met Putin. His exact words were, "I dont know Putin. I have no idea . . . I never met Putin. This is not my best friend." You can see that in the video HERE. You are so biased toward Trump that you will literally ignore the things he says (or deliberately lie, which I honestly doubt you're doing).

I call him a liar because he's lying. I accept your apology that you lacked reading comprehension, common sense skills, or are genuinely dishonest.

If I were Trump I would have done the same thing. When the votes are cast and the results are in, then at that point Trump can make that decision. The media would have gone after him no matter what his answer was.

But that kind of backs Trump up, Gore conceded only after the recount (a botched one which then a Florida court had ruled Bush the winner).
