And Christians belief the bible is 'the very word of God', so they take that and whatever additional stuff their church tells them to believe. Most Christians in Western countries interpret the bible in ways that promote peace; a few in some other countries interpret the bible in ways that promote violence. Islam is the same; the Quran and the Hadiths say a lot of different things and different groups within Islam choose which of those things they'll believe in and follow. Blaming all Muslims because some of them believe in violence is like blaming all Christians because some of them believe in violence.

The Book of Mark was apparently written by Mark...etc, etc.

Islam survives the death of those living entities.

Only the Quran claims to be the actual words of a deity.

Allah wrote the Quran. Dictated it to Mohammed.

Muslims believe in the Quran...all of it. If not...they're not Muslims.

They can believe in it. It's how they act on it that matters.

All of these scripts are the words of men. There is no God.

Exactly. Imperfect human interpretation of imperfect human writings.

And at the end of the gospel, we all stand up and the priest says, "The word of the Lord".

And we all say, "Thanks be to God."

In other words, it's the word of God told through others. For someone saying such definitive things, you know not of what speak. As a Confirmed Catholic, I've been through all of this.

Those folks that do not follow the Quran are not Muslim.

And those that don't not follow the word of Jesus, as told through his disciples, are not Christian. There is no difference.

Are you saying Christians claim that God dictated the various books of the Bible?

Many years ago, Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) got into a sticky wicket by endorsing the fatwah death sentence against Satanic Verses author, Salman Rushdie. When challenged on this, he explained that he wouldn't kill Rushdie unless he was in an Islamic state and the court so ordered.

Ohhhhhh...that's makes a big difference then...never mind !

Economics trumps Virtue.

You're trying to make a difference where there isn't one. The Quran may very well be the literal word of God as told by God. The Bible is most definitely the literal word of God. It is simply told from the 3rd person.

I do not agree that Islam and Christianity are the same.

They are certainly very close relatives with a belief in the same Aramaic God and his teachings (fictitious ones at that).

The Bible reads like a story. The Quran isn't in any logical order (longest to shortest)...with verses that come later historically abrogating those that came before it...perfect God and all.

Christians believe the bible is the 'word of god'. Doesn't matter to them who penned the actual words Muslims believe the Quran is the word of god, even though Muhammed penned the words.

My brother-in-law is a Muslim, born and raised in Egypt. He follows the Quran, but does not believe it's right to kill non-believers or apostates, or even to impose Islam on anyone. He has Christian friends. He thinks ISIS is absolutely not Islam, does not follow the Quran and is not approved of by Allah.

In one sense they are both religions upon whichpeople base their actions. These days Islam is the basis for far worse than Christianity is. It's an argument people don't like to hear but it is true. Nevertheless, in both cases it takes the people.

Islam's claim is that the deities are the same. Not the other way(s) around. In fact, Mohammed pretty much hijacked two other religions to make his warrior themed Islam.

Your brother-in-law isn't a practicing Muslim...thus not a Muslim.

That's really a troubling reality. I think the problem can only be solved over time with education...and in the mean time, a few...million bombs and bullets.

Christianity had its moments of violence.

Islam never stopped.

That is true of any religion or sect of. No one follows all of it - not even the most devout.
