ReeferMadness Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 Isn't it kind of a blessing for the Democrats though if one of the crackpots gets the ticket. Relying on the US to reject the crackpot is a dangerous premise. ATM, Clinton is polling 10 points back of Carson. We might think it's a bit scary for someone who takes a literal view of the bible to have the launch codes. Unfortunately, Americans may not find anything wrong with it. BC_chick Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 Are you serious, Clinton is 10 points behind? Admittedly I haven't been following this election very closely. bush_cheney2004 Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 Some of you guys still don't get it...remember, the USA re-elected President Bush in 2004 for a resounding "in-your-face-world-we'll-damn-well-do-as-we-please". As for a President Clinton, she would use the "launch codes" way before Carson. Same rules apply this time around. Frankly, wannabes from Canada are not very good at this anyway....just look at what that lovable, Nobel Peace Prize winning President Obama turned out to be. Enjoy the show folks ! ReeferMadness Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 That's what Fox News says. IDK much about American politics but I would never wish for a crackpot candidate. There's one poll that has Carson ahead by 10 points. But from this polling average of all polls, Carson is polling 5 points ahead of Clinton nationally. Americans voted in W. Bush twice, so anything can happen. Sanders trails Clinton significantly nationally but polls a bit better vs Trump, which is interesting. Big Guy Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 Carson is an early flash in the pan. I believe that he has no chance for the nomination. The advantage of not having a history of politics is also the disadvantage that because of not having been a politician, he has never been closely vetted. Ever since he has been considered seriously, reporters have started to dig into his past and people are beginning to come out of the woodwork claiming to have negative information on Carson. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_GOP_2016_CARSON_NYOL-?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2015-11-06-19-57-59 This is just the beginning. He has been on this earth for 64 years and his history has never been scrutinized in detail. There is a lot more to come. Moonlight Graham Posted November 7, 2015 Author Report Posted November 7, 2015 Personally, I think it's hilarious that Elephant Team cheerleaders have to pretend that this guy and Trump are credible candidates until somebody normal takes over the lead. It's not as funny when you consider that a lot of the cheerleaders aren't pretending. Watching the GOP race, It's like FOX News is running for president or something. Moonlight Graham Posted November 8, 2015 Author Report Posted November 8, 2015 Ben Carson's house is a bit odd, it's filled with homages to himself. Especially odd is a portrait of himself with Jesus: http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/gallery/2015/nov/07/ben-carson-house-homage-to-himself-in-pictures Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.

Topaz Posted November 8, 2015 Report Posted November 8, 2015 Why do some of u go the them vs us debate, when the topic is on Ben Carson, who should be looked upon with some respect because of his life story, especially growing up un Detroit during the 1960's when some of that city was on fire and vilolence was every were. Carson was able to get an education which sent his life where he is today. This is not about Canadains or Americans its about Ben Carson, and keep going back and forth and this debate will be another topic locked by the moderator. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Carson Quote
jbg Posted November 8, 2015 Report Posted November 8, 2015 Now it's come out that Carson has lied about past accomplishments: "The campaign of Republican Presidential hopeful Ben Carson told Politico on Friday that details in Carson’s book Gifted Hands stating that he was offered a full scholarship to West Point may have been fabricated. The story in question focused on a 17-year-old Carson meeting former Vietnam commander General William Westmoreland in 1969 at an event. According to the story, Westmoreland then had dinner with Carson and at the end of it offered the young man a full scholarship to West Point. The campaign is now saying that some or all of this story is inaccurate, though it is unclear exactly how or why it was fabricated." Some are trying to soften the impact of the lie. I have a problem when someone's instinct is to lie or exaggerate where it's totally unnecessary. A truthful narrative would be that he moved from underclass to neurosurgeon. Full stop. No need for exaggerated or made-up stories about stabbings, rock-throwing or West Point. I find this deeply troubling. A truthful narrative would be that he moved from underclass to neurosurgeon.I am not sure it is a lie. West Point does not offer scholarships per se but people attending don't actually have to pay to go if they commit to military service. A 17 year old could have easily misremembered 'no cost' as 'scholarship' and even if the memory was wrong it could be sincere. Edited November 8, 2015 by TimG Quote
kimmy Posted November 8, 2015 Report Posted November 8, 2015 But "school in exchange for service" wouldn't make for quite as dramatic a story, would it. There's probably an equally plausible explanation for why he thinks the great pyramids are actually granaries, in spite of people who've actually been inside them saying that's ridiculous. The great sphinx is probably a giant cistern, too. I wonder if the Bible says anything about that? -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
