Canada vs Duffy vs PMO

Recommended Posts

Conservatives contradict themselves on Duffy affair.

I am always ready to do exactly what is asked. Clear evidence that under the Conservatives, the supposedly independent senate is squarely under the thumb of the PMO.

And you find this surprising? Did you think it was any different under Chretien, or did you simply not care then?

Harper did not realize that demeaning the Role of the Senate would unleash this storm.

Had he appointed someone interested in carrying out Canada's business... Instead of a Party bagman..... none of this would be happening.

It wasn't party bagmen who got him into trouble it was the journalists who acted like grubby gluttons at the trough.

cause your boy Harper isn't accountable for anything... and isn't responsible for anything... and it's not his fault that his Senate nominations have blown up on him, big time... blown up reeeal good!

Huh.

I didn't know the laws against bribery were imaginary. You should tell the Justice Department. Seems like information that might interest them.

I just got off the phone with a friend who attended a Conservative event. After the PM spoke he gave the 5 reporters an opportunity to ask a question. Three of the reporters were CBC, The CBC reporters asked the same question about the Duffy trial. The PM answered. Given that they had all asked the same question I don't know why they would have expected a different answer! On the evening news we listened to Hannah Thibedeau say, "The PM was peppered with questions about the Duffy trial". I was astounded because her statement was such an outright lie. Three CBC reporters asked the same question 3 times. This kind of 'reporting' is why many Canadians lack respect for journalists.

I think I've said on any number of occasions that whoever in the PMO is responsible for nominating and vetting people for jobs ought to be tarred and feathered.

Surely not even YOU, think Harper comes up with the names of people for all these boards and agencies, to say nothing of the Senate, then checks them out himself.

It really is ridiculous. It's time that he started vetting the questions. If you say you're going to ask a question that's already been answered, you're off the list. If you go off script and ask a different question than you said you would, you're off the list.

The Liberals appointed a few party 'bagmen" too.

No doubt.

Which is why the Senate's constitutional purpose has to become understood.....AGAIN..... by all parties, and appointments made for that purpose. If it was deteriorating, Harper had ten years to turn it around. Instead, he chose to allow a greater slide into abject partisanship, now followed by active neglect.

so far, the only party that has publicly expressed an interest in returning the senate lo its constitutional role, is the Liberals.

socialist, if Harper was a the leader of another party would you still defend him? Which means more to you Harper or the Tory party?

A better question - if Harper were facing a better opponent than Trudeau, would we be defending him?

I really have no problems with Harper anymore. I'd say he's been a solid, consistent leader. My financial situation has been better under the CPC than it was under the Liberals. I don't get worked up over the phony, agenda-driven scandals of the CBC and Toronto Star.

Why dont you take a break, your 10 hours of bleating and praying that this is some sort of scandal must be tiring..

Making up all that BS has to be stressful.

Well, I was responding to "If [Harper] were facing a better opponent than Trudeau..." His main opponent atm is Mulcair, who I do think is better than Trudeau.

And yet if you try to convince the left that the press is hostile towards the Conservatives, they'll refuse to believe it. This trial is glaring proof of that bias, and I'm actually chuffed that at least one guy had the guts to take them to task for it (at yesterdays press conference).

You are being deceptive, again!

Harper has never, ever said he fired Wright.

It is correct by saying that Harper said he dismissed Wright.

Wright resigned, Harper accepted the resignation and thereby dismissed Wright.

If words have no meaning to you, then there's no point discussing anything with you.
