That's part of the problem....relentless comparisons to "Hollywood". The Coen brothers from Minnesota have "done well" large or small, but even if they didn't, there is no hue and cry for legal restrictions to protect Minnesota culture. The best state film boards can do is provide financial incentives and foster healthy markets for media distribution from all sources.

I'm starting to lose interest in regular tv programming as there are are very few shows worthy of watching and those that i do watch are nearly 50% commercials, most of which are that scruffy bum on the Trivago commercials..

As well they should have. The threat from the CRTC was insane. "We have no jurisdiction over you, but if you don't co-operate, we will give that jurisdiction to ourselves".

The CRTC has backed itself into a corner....Netflix is not a broadcaster and is not licensed by the CRTC....it is an internet service easily accessed by Canadians even if the government tries to block Netflix.
