Shady Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 Has anyone else seen this video? It's going viral online. I have my doubts as to whether it's real or not. I was thinking that it's just a drama student trying to get himself noticed. If it is, he deserves to be acting on Broadway! If it's real, then this guy is beyond a lunatic. Regardless, you won't watch a more entertaining video in quite a while! Anyways, Shady presents, 'How Not To Defend Atheism', enjoy... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW9dmpR94J0 Quote
cybercoma Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 Yes. Atheism needs to be defended, just like people need to justify why they don't believe in Thor. Quote

The_Squid Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 Finally some evidence. I am no longer an atheist! Now........ which god is that???? Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 Finally some evidence. I am no longer an atheist! Now........ which god is that???? If you don't pick the "right" one, your head may come off. Thank whatever god you want to for us athiests. Quote

-1=e^ipi Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 That guy should have been arrested. I don't understand how this is entertaining. It is just some guy that clearly has some mental issues screaming at people. Quote

Bonam Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 The entertainment value is marginal at best. And yes, that's certainly not a good example of how to defend any particular point of view. Quote

Mighty AC Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 A lack of a belief in gods need's to be defended about as much as a lack of belief in unicorns. However, if an actual defense of something is needed I recommend using ninjas with lightsabers, preferably those cool purple ones. Mighty AC Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) What about deranged lunatics? Looks like atheists got those now too!Angry lunatics are everywhere. From the segment of the video that I did watch it sounds like this particular lunatic experienced some abuse at the hands of the religious, possibly contributing to his state. I believe he mentioned that he was a homosexual, Jew from the South. Based on the attitudes I have seen and heard many Christians take towards homosexuals, I'm sure his teen years were not pleasant. Anyway, even though lunatics are everywhere at least far fewer atheists believe in imaginary, magic, sky people controlling the Earth, with strong opinions about who we have sex with and the techniques involved. Yes, lots of people have lots opinions on lots of things. Some people wanna tell me what car I should be driving, how much taxes I should be paying, even what kind of toilet I use in my house. All because of magical mother nature. Quote
The_Squid Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 So low-flow toilets are a bad idea? I've never heard anyone argue that before! Another first from Shady! LOL Quote
cybercoma Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 What about deranged lunatics? Looks like atheists got those now too! You know there's no such thing as a group of "atheists," right? They're not some collection of people who share the same interests. Quote
Shady Posted July 23, 2014 Author Report Posted July 23, 2014 You know there's no such thing as a group of "atheists," right? They're not some collection of people who share the same interests. Of course there's such thing. There's groups, and organizations. Some of them have even started churches, as idiotic as that sounds. Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 You know there's no such thing as a group of "atheists," right? They're not some collection of people who share the same interests. There actually are groups of atheists: BC Humanist Association Society of Ontario Free Thinkers These are just a couple in Canada. There are many more. GostHacked Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 Of course there's such thing. There's groups, and organizations. Some of them have even started churches, as idiotic as that sounds. Then those who are doing that are missing the point. Real atheists want nothing to do with anyone else's religion, and real atheists would rather be left alone. Quote

Atheism is a lack of belief in gods, beyond that there is nothing that unites them. Some want to be left alone while others do not. Quote
